Get real, this isn't FM, or such shite.
FM is known for inflated fees, this is the real world, remember?

We are being realistic here, you are talking about the biggest transfer between 2 English clubs ever, and the 3rd most expensive transfer ever.

I give up.

This evening has made me realise why I try and avoid the transfer forum.

I'll now leave you lads to wank over Berbatov/Benzema/Eto/Whoever

G'night.

Anyways...

This is as much a debate about his abilities as anything else, i wont deny that i love a bit of transfer muppetry as you call it. Were lads, we fantasize, dont we?

To everyone:

Edit: I hate it how it always ends up with petty insults about muppetry and whatnot, i understand that a lot of shit is banded about but it isnt always relevant to use re-use the same slant (blatantly started by the admin, who are very much sucked up to) because you havent properly expressed your views. Its a cliche

Its the only thread with posting in it atm. Plus, I'm interested in discussing transfers from time to time, but I don't abide muppetry, lil feller.

At what point did this become muppetry?

All i have seen is well reasoned views, backed up and consolidated by other members, big man.

Wes, debating whether or not Berbatov will be an ideal acquisition, isn't 'muppetry'. Especially when SAF has previously tryed to sign him; aswell as him being effectively up for sale at the end of the season. Unless you don't think Utd need another striker ofcoarse?

If anybody got made to look silly, it was cockneyhammer, and Sam#1 among others. No offence.

Berbatov will not nearing 28 until January of next year. In any case, 27 is not exactly near retirement age is it?

In any case, whether Fergie wanted him or not, I think you've missed the boat since I hear that AC Milan may have got him. Don't hold me 100% on this, but I reckon it could well be true.

It certainly ties in with Levy's preference, all things being equal, to avoid selling him to a Prem club.

I'd say 25m at the very least and probably closer to 30m, possibly even more.

But as I said above, I think it's too late for United now and a deal with AC Milan has been done if Spurs ITKs are correct - no 100% guarantee on this info.

Hopefully we'll get Gattuso in part exchange

This Milan link could be true. Still think it will be in the region of 35m?

If it is true, atleast it will answer that question.

He has probably already had prelimiary discussions with a few sides, i think its clear he is going to leave, i just hope united realise his talent and what he could do for us and bloody get him signed, he ticks all boxes for us apart from the age criteria.

I think we could push it for something like 25-26 mill

Sounds pretty logical since Gattuso seeked a Premiership move and Hotspur is in dieing need of a quality DM. :\

Come on how many years does SAF have left he is building this squad up to a special level, and I have no doubt he will improve this off season

Our 2 formations are:

4-4-2

and

4-3-3

I think Fergie prefers the 4-4-2, which is when we play our best football, but there is nobody to stretch the defences like Saha did. We were playing our best football at the beginning of last season when we had Saha/Rooney up top, and Ronaldo/Giggs on the wings. That balance, is what we are looking for.

Im sure everyone was in agreeance that a quality centre forward is our exact requirment, and i cant see Fergie (while claiming to be fighting on three fronts) going with Rooney/Tevez/Manucho. Campbell seems to be doing ok, but James Beattie has scored a lot of goals in the first division, we cant quantify how good he is by what he has achieved in a lower league.

It is going to take in excess of 15 million for us to get a striker, who, may or may not develop into the next best thing. Berbatov will cost around the 25 million mark, thats tail end, the guy is begging out to play Champions League football. On top of this he has stayed at Tottenham for two years, he has kept his mouth shut, given them good times, but this is his time, he has got move to a big club, and he looks like he is already half way out of north London. He is also proven in the premiership, and i think he would complete our strikeforce.

Tevez didnt like playing on the bench at West Ham, so why should Berbatov at Tottenham when he is clearly the best player? It came at a time when le Spurs were doing shit, and he wasnt chosen, i would be pissed off, but at Man Utd; where nobody is bigger than the club, then i would keep it quiet and wait my chance, like im sure he would.
'Sitting on the bench and waiting for your chance' doesnt mean that we should bring in a shite striker. Pato was brought by AC Milan for that role, same thing can be said about Suazo while Ole had played in that role for years.

The thing is that you are expecting the club to spend 20m for a 27 yr old striker who had thrown tamtrums whenever he was sent on the bench. That situation is far from ideal expecially considering his age and the fact that we already have two 20m rated strikers upfront. What we need is someone good, who wouldnt mind doing sacrifices for the team and that may also mean, sitting on the bench and watch the SAME STRIKING PARTNERSHIP which got us to the CL final and so near to the EPL title play. No weak forward line would have achieved that. What we need is quality cover and not another 20m rated striker.

most importantly breaking up the Rooney and Tevez combo would not be necessary
