Is Romero starting due to speculation/confirmation from Ole?

Greenwood, Chong, Gomes should make the bench.

Romero literally hasn’t put a foot wrong in the games he’s played!

Dozens of international caps, quite well travelled, vastly experienced and adaptable. Best back up keeper we could ask for, no?

I believe Greenwood is injured so has not made the squad! Am pretty sure Chong or Gomes will start on the right though!

Desperate for Lindelof to be rested, but also Young as well really. The only way I can see that happening is if Valencia plays again and Dalot can be used at Left Back.

    Romero
    Valencia Darmian Jones Dalot
    Fred Pereira Fellaini
    Mata Lukaku Sanchez

I think this would still be my preferred line-up, so only Jones would have to start against Spurs from those. If Greenwood is injured, that's really unfortunate. Gomes and Chong will get on from the bench.

    Not sure, but makes sense.
Would like to see Romero in.

You would think Matic would be rested but Ole said he has to see if Fellaini makes it through training and we don’t have any CB’s if Bailly is suspended for this.

He really is, I'm surprised we'll have him left, he really has to like the club!

No news on Gomes or Greenwood yet.

Edit: No Gomes, or Greenwood. McTominay and Fellaini make it.

Sure, but he's so good that it's a bit tragic that he has to compete with DDG, but he may think that the competition makes him even better. Good for us anyway :)

From that team list I'd say that Darmian has a good chance of starting, possibly at CB. I'd maybe want him starting with Lindelof though given he could have to cover for injury prone Jones

How unfortunate for Greenwood to pick up an injury right before he makes his debut. But his time will come. Hopefully, we will see Chong replace him in the starting lineup who is equally exciting.

Don't know a great deal about Garner other than he is Carrick reborn. Settle for that!

Sadly don't see the youngsters involved from the start but I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised. Iirc even SAF didn't give academy players debut starts

Should be interesting to see if Chong og Garner gets a few minutes, but really don't think any of them will start. Given the circumstances Lukaku and Alexis is confirmed. And Fred / Pereira / Fellaini is likely to get the opportunity to make a claim for for match time in a 433-ish shape. Last of the mid/att spots, I would guess, is Mata. A more radical approach perhaps would perhaps be Pereira on the right wing, and McTominay in the "Matic role" With Fred as Pogba and Fellaini as Herrera.

Lindelöf or Jones should also be rested, so it wouldn't be too surprising to see Darmian at CB?

    Looking at that squad:

    Romero
    Dalot Jones Darmian Young
    Fred Pereira Fellaini
    Mata Lukaku Sanchez
    ---
Grant; Lindelof; McTominay, Garner, Chong; Rashford, Martial

No chances taken with Rashford/Martial on the bench in case it goes tits up. Otherwise, Garner and Chong will get at least 20 minutes each IMO.

The only other things I can see happening are McTominay or Lindelof playing instead of Young, with Darmian moving to LB. Or, it could also be more of a back three with Dalot/Young as wing backs, Darmian as part of the three and Mata or Pereira behind a front two of Lukaku and Sanchez. I don't expect Ole to change the formation, however.

Lindelöf should be rested because we need him against Tottenham.
I would rather have Williams (but he isn't in the squad) as CB than Darmian but like said we should rest Lindelöf.
Yep that should be the starting XI.

Exciting to see Garner and Chong make the squad. Really hope Chong starts or at the very least comes off the bench, very exciting player.

They start O’Shea at CB. I’ve checked a Reading forum and they think they are going to get completely destroyed.

They have also just changed managers but that didn’t stop them from losing 4-1 to Swansea.

    Romero

    Dalot-Jones-Lindelof-Young

    Fellaini

    Pereira-Fred

    Mata Alexis

    Lukaku

Subs: Grant, Darmian, McTominay, Garner, Chong, Martial, Rashford

Players like Fred, Pereira and Dalot could really show Ole what they’re all about in this one with top performances, we know they have the talent but if all of them apply it correctly today, we could not only as fans have another top performance from United on our hands, but also be able to see at least two of these three starting in our two home games after spurs against brighton and burnley.

Same goes for the proven players like Lukaku, who’s already shown he can score when used correctly tbf to him but needs to carry on scoring and Alexis, who’s got to use the first half of 2019 to kickstart his MUFC career.

Lastly, if we do build up a comfortable lead of at least 2 or 3 goals by the 65th-70th minute, I hope and believe that Ole will give us a taste of Chong and Garner.

Anyway, I’m going for a comfortable 4-0 win (Lukaku X2, Alexis, Rashford).

    COME ON UNITED!

Crazy that O'Shea hasn't retired yet. Even 2 relegations in two years didn't make him decide to hang then up

I remember a 10 hour drive home from Old Trafford when we drew with them 0-0 after a Motorcyclist was shot on the m40.

What a fun day that was. I think they had a player sent off too.. Dave Kitson.. . That could have been a different game.

Remember reading he was an incredibly upbeat and engaging presence in the locker room. Probably having the time of his life no matter what.

You got to feel for the media here, they love Ole and they know a lot of people love him too, they also know loving him won't give them desired clicks. They are lost on how to handle the current United manager.

Some of their questions are very weird.

They're trying so hard to find a way to twist his words, but Ole responses are so harmless, supportive of the players and the club. No drama. Just a young man doing his job the right way and getting result.
