It's especially embarrassing when you have possibly the best ever Premier League team on display. Meanwhile, we sell out OT to watch a load of pub team footballers.

  2. KingMinger22 replied to the thread Centre Back... Who do we go for?.

I think it's important we buy younger players. We are not going to challenge for anything any time soon so we should at least buy players who will be around five years plus.

This thread is fake news. Can we have some quality control here?

  4. KingMinger22 replied to the thread The Saudi Takeover Rumor Thread.

I do not believe Man United will ever be an elite team without new ownership. Barca and Real make 15-20% more revenue than us and can reinvest every penny back into the team. City and PSG make within 10% of us and are actually subsidized with...

  5. KingMinger22 replied to the thread Fergie’s role in our current plight.

The club was completely stretched for cash flow in his final seasons. This is the entire reason why we are where we are. Failure to invest from 2009-14.

  6. KingMinger22 replied to the thread United V Barca: Wage Bill.

Where are you getting these figures? Real and Barca have wage bills that are double, or close to, ours. City are third. We may be fourth but I'd suspect that's Juve now.

  7. KingMinger22 replied to the thread What do we still need? Post Summer 2018 edition.

That's basically what I said too. We don't need to do it over a number of seasons but we are a for-profit club so we won't invest as aggressively as Real did in 2009 and will this summer. They literally went from average to world beaters in a...

  8. KingMinger22 replied to the thread Matthijs de Ligt.

You are thinking like a for-profit club whose main goal is to maximize shareholder value (United). Barca are an elite sporting institution with the only goal of being the best on the pitch. Look at how they are gobbling up the world's best kids.

  9. KingMinger22 replied to the thread What do we still need? Post Summer 2018 edition.

How much does an entire new, top 4 quality squad cost because that is basically what we need? If we spend 300 or 400 million this summer we should have a good shout at top 4 but no way does that get us to Coty level. The state of affairs is...

Agreed but... I'd get rid of Martial and keep Shaw.

Care to dispute? I got them from the KPMG report on the finances of the top clubs.

  13. KingMinger22 replied to the thread Ed Woodward - Same medicine for the patient, no new structure?.

At this stage, there does not look like much room for significant growth. Match day revenue has plateaued out for a few years. The recent TV deal saw no growth whatsoever. Commercial has matured. Maybe add another rice partner here and there....

As if a club of our position could buy a guy like this. Get real.

  15. KingMinger22 replied to the thread Crazy, but genuine question...£1bn spend.

£1bn is around the figure you would need. Consider that Sterling and KDB are worth £200m each. No question.
