Coming up on episode 17 of the RedCafe.net podcast, Steve, Dan and Dov take a look at the last two matches with Portsmouth and Turkish champions Besiktas, as Ryan Giggs reached 100 Premier League goals.
The lads will also be discussing whether the likes of Macheda, Welbeck and Gibson will ever be good enough and the likelihood of a certain Inter Milan defender being the next arrival at Old Trafford.
As well as the rest of the regular features, Dov will be looking at a terrific servant from the 90’s in his legends profile and the lads will be joined by Iain Dale from WestHamTillIDie.com with a trip to Upton Park on the horizon.

Wes Brown, cabbage of the week ?
Dov do you ever actually watch our games ?
Not the first time your judgement has been shown to be dodgy as fuck, did you enjoy Fletcher's goal against Everton after writing him off a few weeks ago ?
Iain Dale has got to be the poshest WH fan you'll ever hear.
Good effort all in all lads. Thanks.

Do you reckon Dov is really Frankly Vulgar in disguise ? Both Scottish. hmmm

He's been one of the most consistently impressive players in our team since the start of last season. Actually, scratch that, he's been the most consistently impressive.
He's had a very strong all round game for a while now, but this season he's stepped up his attacking input as well - more goals, much better creative passing and more snap to his typical passes to keep the tempo high.
He's been playing better than Ballack for well over a year. Busquets is getting plenty of games for Barca, is he really better than Fletcher? Not yet.

I think that has much to do with Barça looking to blend in some Cantera youngsters in the first team and should rather be likened to Welbeck for instance, getting games ahead of Park or Owen in their respective positions albeit arguably still inferior to them.
I also do not think he'd replace Ballack at Chelsea given the confidence shown in the German by both Hiddink and Ancelotti, rewarded by some confident performances from the German over the past year.
and Fletcher was rubbish before I said and he will never score a goal like that again and he is not world class!! Would he get into Chelseas side... NO, would he get into Barcelona's team... NO, would he get into Inter's team... NO!!
He's out performed at least one midfielder from each of our rivals starting team over the past year.
If that's not good enough for you then you need your head screwed on.

The players are there because they fit, chances are they won't fit in other teams quite as well. Makes more sense to compare their performances for their respective teams - and Fletcher measures up quite well I'd say.
He might not be world class, he's probably in the tier just below that but he makes world class players look very ordinary when he plays against them. That was a world class goal against Everton though.
He has stepped up, which if you listen to previous podcasts, I have acknowledged. But for ability he is not the quality I demand at United
I'd love to know how the fuck we managed to win two league titles on the trot (including a CL winning season) when our most consistent performed in central midfield was "not United quality"?
Brown was one of our best players against Besiktas, he was voted second in our MotM thread here on Redcafe. None of our defenders shone aganst Pompey but there's no doubt about it Wes Brown is doing a good job at the moment filling in for Rio.

I've listened to every podcast so far so I'm well aware of your previous. Your last sentence is laughable and sums up what I've been saying.
Browns performance against Portsmouth was the reason I gave him such an award.
Dont you want players of high quality at United?? would you be happy having Luke Chadwick back, he works hard too??

What I wouldn't be happy with is spunking 50/60 million on a player in what is an inflated transfer market. A player who has the same chance of getting injured as any other.
There's enough quality in that United squad to win the lot this season.
