The 'prospect' signing doesn't necessarily need to be named explicitly.

By nature, a £20m buy is going to be someone under the radar who nobody's heard of. I think it's enough to say we need a RB in that price range without then naming names. That's what United's scouting team are for.

But I agree that Wan-Bissaka won't be that man. He'll comfortably be £50m+.

Midfield can perhaps wait. But RB can't. We need one as much we need a RW and way more than we need a CB.

I personally dont think this is the question we need to worry about Sancho. Will it be a gamble to buy him for that sum? Sure, but bigger gamble in my opinion is letting him stay for another season. If he has a season absolutely tearing it up in Bundesliga there is no way the big boys wont be sniffing around. They probably already are.

Things are going our way now, such a positive atmosphere at club. We need to make hay while the sun shines. I dont think there will be a better opportunity to sign him other than this summer. Even if it is a big gamble and the pressure on Sancho coming here and being top notch, its still worth it. He is English which means that even if he would flop here we could offload him to a smaller PL club for a decent fee.

Sure there is other options on the market and Im 100% sure the club will make the right decisions. Pretty hard not being confident and positive at the moment.

Di ligit .. badly need a centre back
Wan basaka .. need a right back and id be happy to stick Dalot as right Winger. He was incredible against PSG.
I used to think we needed a back for matic but mccleverly evolved into mctominay and looks a very good prospect. Would also like to see Garner come through. I think our squad is really good, we just need a real leader at the back and replace young. United is all about youth and with a strong pre season, who knows!

    Sancho or De Ligt 100
    Felix or Neves 50
    Tonali or Tierney 20

All great prospects. All gettable for united with the feelgood factor back.

Either of top 2 players go straight into the team. We certainly need a RW more than a CB but De Ligt is a generational talent, it would be a shame to miss out on him. Getting both would be a massive statement of intent from us. Ole obviously trusts young players and they are the 2 best out there for my money. That’s the real United way! Our squad is already big enough really as it is if we want to give youth team players a fair chance.

Any of the bottom 4 players could all rotate in and out of the team next season. If shaw gets injured or his form drops off young isn’t really good enough at LB... he’s good enough cover for RB for another season while laird matures or goes out on loan and wan bissaka has another PL season under his belt. Matic will still be a starter next year so tonali or neves will have time to settle in. Tonali will be cheaper and looks to be a good player in the making.
Felix to rotate with lingard and all across the forward line.

The future looks pretty rosy even without any of those players coming in. A few of them and we are really set for the next few years.

Mata Sanchez Darmian Valencia and Rojo could all leave at the end of the season and we wouldn’t miss them. That’s pretty much the end of LVG and Moyes signings at the club and it’s no coincidence we are playing much better without them. Signings that never really fit the clubs playing style. I have a good feeling Ole is going to go all out for top youth, a few league proven players if we need them and a few punts from foreign leagues. There will be a British/Irish core to the squad again going forward. I’m So happy! I’ve been beating this drum since Fergie retired. I don’t know why we had to change something that was clearly working so well!

Sancho + Koulibaly/De Ligt/Varane would be a dream summer, presuming that we get important existing contracts sorted. We need to replace Matic eventually but McTominay has impressed and deserves his place in the squad. Allan could be of interest though if available this summer.

It will certainly be an interesting summer for us, we have a few that need moving on and it won't be easy.

I don't think we can get any player for 20m these days unless they have a year left on their contract. I would restructure to say Mega ~ 100m, Big-ish ~ 75m and Prospect ~ 50m.

I don't think we need a Mega signing... We could do well with 2 Big-ish signings in the form of De Ligt & Ndombele and for a Prospect, I think Nicolas Pepe would be phenomenal.

One big signing winger is a must. Then a midfielder and solid RB.

Verratti would be great. Matic won’t be around forever and he’s a good age to sign.surely he won’t stay in that league for good.

    I think we need
    A) sub left back
    B) right side attack not necessarily a starter but somebody to mix it up among rashford martial lukaku.
    C) a centre back. Smalling and lindelof are doing so well but I worry longer term. Maybe they can step up even more next season and if so then fantastic.

We don’t need wholesale changes. Squad is looking good.

if ole has only £170m to spend, i hope he will go 80-90 for Sancho and 80-90 for De Ligt.

and maybe rabiot on a free.

    for the thread however:
    - Sancho
    - Ndombele or Neves
    - someone like Dalot from the Portuguese League or Dutch League.

    £100m - De Ligt... I don't need any explanation

£50m - Zaha, Under Ole I think he'd step up a level and make the right side his own, can play across the front 3, Also would make a bigger impact than Sancho imo, bring back SAF last ever signing

£20m - Kenny Lala to rotate with Dalot at RB, 4 goals and 8 assists (joint highest assists in ligue 1) with a beckham esque cross on him, perfect for set pieces ect. solid squad player.

I used to bloody love Rafael and was genuinely gutted when he was sold. Does anybody have any idea how he is getting on these days? Did a quick search but only got stats which don't really tell the whole story for a player like him. I hope he is performing well and enjoying his football. Loved that lad!

With 170mil, I would go for Veratti + either of Koulibaly / De Ligt / Varane. If there is spare after that, go for Nicolas Pepe.

This. We'll have to make another big signing at CB, Koulibaly. If we can get this done, it would be an amazing summer.

I don't think it's about mega or non-mega. It's about whether they work for us in the positions we need.

I'd be happy with three complete unknowns who have been thoroughly scouted and have the potential to succeed at OT. Just like a certain Norwegian back in 1996...

With Valencia and Darmian out of contract and leaving in the summer, we have 3 players that can play at fullback; Shaw, Young and Dalot. That’s 3 players for 2 positions. One of which is a 34yo winger who’s not the best at defending and could fall off a cliff, due to aging, at any moment through the season like Valencia did. The other is a 19/20yo that is a bit unproven yet and seems (for now at least) more suited to being winger a than a fullback.

You’re telling me that this is an acceptable risk to take, to go into the season like this? If Shaw, our only proper fullback, picks an injury that we’re down to Young and Dalot alone until he comes back with no decent subs?

Sancho is the obvious and seemingly unanimous choice. British and capable of playing in a quick fluid attack. I'd complement Sancho with Declan Rice. De ligt would be a dream signing, especially if bailly and rojo are on their way out. There we go - 3 signings maximum, de ligt, sancho and rice.

    Mega - Malinkovic-Savic
    Big - Manolas
Prospect - I think any known prospect will more than likely cost more than £20 mil

Sancho - deLight - Ndombele or Rice, possibly bissaka as well but Dalot should be given the chance as he was immense recently, if thats the case then we need a backup rb/fb that can play both wings

It's not about what makes you happy (though I hope you can find joy in your life).

This subforum is full of unrealistic shopping lists. I'm trying to figure out what people would like with the constraints of the real world.

I bet that by game 1 of the 2019/20 season, this thread will be the most accurate reflection of our transfer business. Asking for unknown superstars is like asking to win the lottery.

Tonali is a great shout, although it seems Cellino wants at least €30m for him and all the Serie A big guns, namely Juventus, head the queue.

Personally I think the RW spot is pivotal - just buy Sancho for whatever they want up until £100m as the kid is worth it. Then use whatever remaining monies to target the likes of Wan-Bissaka, Neves/Rice, Tierney, De Ligt/Alderweireld etc. (in no order). Either way I think we're gonna have a big summer - I just hope we actually get our number one targets this year...

I don't think we should sign superstars. We already have plenty. Just good players who fit the slots we need to fill.

Throw the Mega bucks at Ajax for De Ligt

If I'm remembering correct Pellegrini of Roma has a release clause of a little over €20m so he could represent shrewd business. Maybe snatch up Rabiot on a free.

Does Fekir still play from the right? If so I would like him, as great as our forwards are at countering we lack a proper creator in the final third.

Yes, the 27 year old prospect..

I don't mind that too much.

A 27 year old wouldn't necessarily be a prospect for the long term, but at that price they'd be somebody under the radar who's a prospect to make the step up for the short to medium term.
