When its laid out like that you think, imagine if we were playing well, would it even be any different?

    3 L
    11 W
    1 Draw

... thats not worth cracking the shits over. I remember doing the same thing when LvG was still here and it was horrendous. 2 wins in 11 or something.

What about 2018 transfers. Which all players did we buy and sell?

FFS, 1 year on and we've not managed to improve our form. Did we go out in the same round of the CL?

Once the year is corrected, it’s not bad form.

There are obviously a couple of very disappointing results in there with a few very good wins.

We simply have to improve again next season. Nobody can deny that. There’s cause for some optimism and I think shortly after the season starts we’ll know if it’s going to work or not.

Forgetting the mistake of the year, the form (despite some of the games) is impressive. The one big blow is the L against Sevilla. That was such a massive game that it makes a whole lot of difference viewing how things have progressed.
If we attack that game, and lose, I think people would have been more forgiving.
If we had played as we did, but go through, people would have said 'job done, need to improve' etc.
But to basically not even try to attack over 180 minutes against a team that loses quite big when they are attacked was really hard to take. Especially when we have superior players. And then we are told Sevilla have a bunch of players that would easily make our team. (like we lost to a power house team like Madrid, Barca, Bayern).

The problem is the only two real important games in that lot have a D and a L...and two performances which you can't even begin to argue deserved any better.

If we were going for a league title and that was our form, it wouldn't look so bad. Except you do have to factor in the level of performances as well, which haven't exactly been inspiring.

Terrible! It have to be straight Ws from start to the end, no L no X, sack Mourinho. :nono:
Haha, Many vocal posters remember the most recent L one and that X one, mainly that two games, after the big profile L, the caf blown up with many (bottled inside) criticism of Jose, understandably.
Nothing problem with form, it's the big expectations of approaching every games more positively, and oh also the frustration of wanting their fav players to play all the time and not just that, to play great, if the players don't, blame only the manager for it, nothing on the players. Not all vocal posters though.

    Disagree with the OP.

Our form in 2019 will read as follows

    15 wins
    0 losses
    0 draws

    This is fun.

I can do a 2020 one where we win every game from Jan1st to May 25th if you like? In some Rawkish irony we could claim we are rightful owners of the 2020 team of the year since we will have a better goals per chance or some bollox.

    Absolutely.

I predict that by 2025 United will have won 7 straight Alternate League Table titles (footballs most coveted prize), ending Liverpool's 47 year winning streak and finally achieving SAF's ultimate long-term goal..

SAF On Liverpool "My greatest challenge is not what's happening at the moment, my greatest challenge is knocking Liverpool right off their fecking perch. And you can print that."

We all know deep down what he truly meant with this statment of intent.

The form in letters isn't bad, we're second in the league for a reason and two big wins against Chelsea and Liverpool are hugely significant. What it doesn't tell is how clueless we looked against nothing more than a decent Seville side and how our manager is having very public fallouts with Shaw and Pogba. Form is temporary, Class is lacking.

Can never remember a time following united when 4 wins from previous 5 was a time so many were in crisis mode. Not to mention Chelsea and Liverpool beaten in that time too.

The hysterics this season have been laughable.

People see a big difference between the results and the performances, trying to get around that won't change their perception of the performances.

That is if you see Europe as the be all and end all - which it is not - it is just a cup competition.

I presume that's all competitions? I worked out last year's equivalent:

    2017 Form: WWWDLDWWDWWWDWWWDLWDDW

What really stands out is how many more matches we'd played by the time we were down to 8 league games left (22 last year vs only 15 this year).

2 L (one of which was second leg of a two legged tie we won overall)
    13 W
    7 D

I don't think this is meant to do that?
A little perspective doesn't hurt, its hard to bluff this kind of run over 15 games regardless of how unimpressed we are with the performances.

    5 L
    10 W

Considering this was the season Van Gaal got sacked it's actually not as dramatically worse than the 2018 version as you'd expect. Two more defeats, one less win, three more draws (2 more fixtures played).

Mind you, Van Gaal's fate was mainly sealed by the diabolical end to 2015:

DDLLLDD in the last month of the league campaign. Feck me, those were dark days...

We won the FA cup and kicked on in the league to end up level on points with City. I'm surprised posters remember it any differently. This would be the Rashford honeymoon period with wins v City and Arsenal thrown in.
It was November to January that killed is.

What perspective? Most people are perfectly aware of the results, it's just an other bs thread meant to move the topic away from the actually problem that people have which is a lack of trust in the performances and for some boredom.

I think the important question here is why have you used an X to represent the draw and not a capital D?

The OP is simply asking if our results would drastically improve if we performed better since it already looks impressive as is.
Just because it isn't Jose out or tells us the sky is falling in doesn't make it a BS thread.

I agree, but performances can be forgiven when you see the results. Also, we need to remember, our performance has dipped since we shoehorned Sanchez into the team in january, a prime example of why signing a player in january is usually avoided. I think next season we'll be much better.

Yeah, two legged ties in the semis. Plus the Europa League, also double headers each time.

As a few already mentioned, both here and other threads, it`s not about results really. The results under LVG were not really that bad either, but the football was so poor i actually couldn´t care how we did at the end of his time here.

We are no doubt better now, but still, there are just to many games were our approach and attitude is a long way from what we expect from our team. Our squad is easily good enough to go out at Wembley against Spurs and give our fantastic away fans something to be proud of.

Our squad is easily good enough to give Sevilla´s keeper a reason to wash his kit after 3 hours of football.

We resort to hoofball to Fellaini/Lukaku way to often.
How many times have we watched our team more or less stop playing after they scored a goal?
Just moving the ball around with no purpose of going forward and actually trying to score another one.
