Yeah great comparison, comparing outfield players to Goal Keeper.

If they accept the ban then it’ll be disaster for them without new quality signings. Losing Hazard without equality replacement is a massive loss. Take him off last season, Chelsea wouldn’t make it to top 4. Let’s not underestimating the impact of Hazard in their team.

They still have top players like Kante & Jorginho but that’s about it. Their trio attackers & the backup doesn’t look very good for top 4 challengers. On positive side for their fans, they will get to see CHO more often and will make the player happy to stay.

The reality was your club's players downed tools in order to get rid of Mourinho.

In today's circumstances, the context is different with your best player, a good coach and no incoming transfers but the result could end up the same.

Who would be an "equality replacement" for Eden Hazard? There's isn't one that is even remotely realistic a target.

Losing Hazard is a massive loss of course.

We won't play in the same way but expect Pedro or Willian or Pulisic to do what Hazard did, we'll have to change up the way we attack.

You've picked three outfield players and compared them to a keeper  Also I can give you lots of top players who's had down years who's bounced back - doesn't mean there's a science behind it, it's football.

I don't understand what attributes DDG has that separates him from other keepers? He's still only 28 years old which is relatively young for a keeper and should be coming into his peak years. The issue with DDG this season has been his concentration not his athleticism regardless.

It could be possible that he's suffering from mental burnout or due to the fact that he's currently playing for a club who are currently on a downward spiral which could possibly affect the players. What Utd player has stood out this season after all? I could understand if Utd were playing well and he was making mistakes but his form is probably a direct consequence of how the club is performing.

Hazard is a world class. At least sign a top player for replacement, that’s what I was referring to as equality replacement.

    Okay then, Casilas.

There really seems to be a contradiction with our current era of players.

On one hand we're constantly told they lack balls and leadership but on the same token we're suppose to believe those same players took on one of the biggest names in sport, doesn't really add up.

It's still a relevant notion because DDG relies on his athletic qualities to be as good as he is, the same way those players mentioned did.

I guess we will see next season.

What Casillas? You mean the player who declined in his 30s?

I'm not sure how realistic Coutinho leaving Barca for Chelsea is and as for the other two, id rather give Pulisic and Hudsob-odoi a go.

It's all irrelevant as we are banned from making transfers.

Who will be their starting striker next season?

Batshuayi? Giroud? Abrahams? What happens with Higuain and Morata?

Morata is on loan at Atletico for another season and Higuain's loan has ended.

I would guess we'll start next season with Giroud as starting striker.

What does their position have to do with it? DDG going from good to bad the same way others in different positions have done. Essien's sad decline was entirely down to his injury though, not a loss of form like DDG and Sanchez.

If their ban is lifted could see James Rodriguez ending up at Chelsea.

The fact is it happened with Mourinho and Conte and that's the way it is with Chelsea's players.

Don't believe everything the media tell you.

If we're going down this road, what about the fact the same thing happened to Jose at both his clubs either side of Chelsea?

And you have inside knowledge as to what happened? It’s obvious that the players stopped playing for Mourinho during his second stint at Chelsea. Also, players downing tools isn’t unique to a particular club and it was clear that a number of players like Pogba stopped performing when Mourinho was in charge at Man Utd.

    No, but neither do you.

I don't think the players were completely innocent but i certainly can't imagine a situation where they would borderline sabotage a manager, the Real squad you can just about picture it but the only players from our squad that i could imagine having the cojones to do that were Cesc and Costa, which would in turn be partly Jose's fault as he signed both himself.

I don't think it was that big a factor at United either, watching their games earlier in the campaign the similarities were scary, the only difference between us both (which saved United from a similar dive down) was they had the firepower to see them to results they didn't deserve, whereas we only had two reliable scorers one of whom was playing through an injury.

No surprise whatsoever. There was a story the ban would be extended further if we tried, maybe the reason. Importantly there is no point in FIFA handing out such bans if clubs just suspend it, sign who they need then serve it...

We have massive squad, with all the loans and the youth system it's 40+ players, we will be fine. Who we get as manager is key. Selling clubs can forget loading, Coutinho, Bale, James etc on to us and FIFA maybe doing us a favour in some regards..

Losing Hazard, probably their manager and unable to make transfers should be a massive blow to Chelsea’s upcoming season.

They will probably set a target for 4th and be happy to hit that.

Winning Champions League and a 4th spot is good enough. Don't think League Cup and FA are realistic though.

Not just wrong but also insulting to Chelsea players!
They "down tools" yet win the FA Cup for Conte.
This season when Chelsea hit a bad patch and fell out the top four, the same rubbish was spouted again, yet they go on to finish 3rd and win the EL.
If anything, they over achieved for Sarri.

Until the transfer ban problem is solved, no other manager is accepting to negotiate and Mourinho is seen as the last resort

If this confirms I think we can shut down football, because we've seen it all.

Actually surprised Zola isn't being more strongly linked with the job. He's still at the club as assistant manager so will already have good knowledge of the squad. O.K his managerial career hasn't been that great but Di Matteo was poor at Schalke and lasted six weeks for us yet still won CL and FA cup in six months at Chelsea.

Fans certainly wouldn't be protesting after a few poor results with the esteem he's rightly held in there.

Jorginho could have had around ten assists if not for poor finishing. Puts some things into perspective. That’s why chances created is a more meaningful statistic than assists.

Yet incredibly other midfielders weren't struck by the bad luck of only their passes not leading to goals. Only Jorginho.

It doesn't put anything in to perspective, across an entire season he played some passes which *might* have led to goals. So what?

He has 4 assists in 2 league seasons at Napoli/Chelsea, the problem clearly isn't that others around him simply can't finish off his genius passing, he's not creative. He's never reached 5 assists in the league, and whilst assists is a limited stat if a player consistently doesn't get any across his career then he's probably not creating very much. Obviously he's creating enough that zero is harsh, but if you end up on zero then some of that lies with you, not just your teammates.

Most of the passes featured in the video are clipped over the top, with a player pressurising the attacker and the keeper closing him down at the same time, i.e very difficult chances to convert. They aren't putting players clean through on goal or giving him space to escape defenders.

    Jorginho, this and Jorginho that.

We finished 3rd, not sure what more anyone could want? If Jorginho is s*ite, he's still part of a better team than all but 2 other clubs... Even if we won 10 more games, we would still finish 3rd... They say the table doesn't lie?

Who will be the Manager next season? That is the question?

:houllier: Some of the most bizarre logic I've ever heard. Fair play.

A player being part of a successful team does not necessarily make that individual a good player. He can be carried by his teammates (Hazard) without having that much of an impact himself on your 'success' (you basically finished third because the top 4 contenders were woeful and we sacked off the league for the CL pretty early on). The 'table doesn't lie' statement has always been untrue, we were an inferior side to the Liverpool one which reached the CL final the season before last, but finished ahead because they had big CL games to focus on which distracts from league efforts in a way battling Sparta Prague and Donetsk doesn't.

Jorginho was fine, he did a decent job most games in a Sarri system, but that's all. He was as bang average as you can get, boring but effective in a majority of matches aside from a few where he was bullied and pressed out of games.

The reports coming out of Chelsea and the collapse in results all point to player unrest. Looking at Mourinho's history with his playing staff at various clubs, it's perfectly understandable why players eventually revolt.

I read news reports that either Houllier or Mourinho could be hired as the new Chelsea head coach.

That would be utterly bizzare and very amusing! :D:houllier:

For the forseeable future, City and Liverpool have thier rivalry going on. Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea have their mini league fighting to see who is the least shite. Spurs toddle on in betweeen in no trophy mans land.

Most of them are overhit long balls. Its no wonder that he's ended up with no assists.

Unfortunately I can see this being true of all the other top four rivals. Could easily be another season where it's pool/City battling for the league and then a pretty pathetic punch up for top four places.

Unless a club makes some serious transfer moves there's no way that gap is being made up.
