The issue is, we need a couple good midfielders, in my opinion, and who knows Pogba MAY go, doubtful, but you never know. It may be the case that Rabiot is just too good to turn down on a free, considering he is still young too with room to improve, cause I can't see us splashing big on every position on the field that we need, arguably the big money signing should be RW, but we need a CM, a DC, and whatever else. Do I think there are better players we could target than Rabiot? Sure. Are they free? Nope, they'd cost a bomb. So you never know, this COULD happen.

Also coming to a club like United, under the wing of probably OGS and such, could be the turning of a new leaf for the guy, you never know.

Their treatment of him shows how annoyed they are with the whole situation, they were obviously counting on him this season.

The problem is, Players like DeJong are joining clubs like Barca and Real. They are not signing for United and certainly not for Arsenal.

I'm sure Zidane will recruit Rabiot, especially because he had positive comments about the player just after the 1st against Barcelona in 2017.

Pogba is your only one central midfielder who is better than him.

He never had problems with PSG coaches and teammates.

A no brainer if I were a Manchester United fan.

I'd take him. At least make him an offer even if it's 2 years with a club option.

Rabiot sounds a bit like a fella called Paul Pogba, anyone heard of him? Here's what SAF had to say when he left.

“Pogba signed for Juventus a long time ago as far as we’re aware, it’s a bit disappointing because I don’t think he showed us any respect at all. To be honest, if they carry on that way, I’m quite happy that he’s away, from me, anyway.”

He even comes with an agent that is a proper twat.

Does sound similar. But I'm not sure if that is supposed to be a good or a bad thing.

If Rabiot doesn't replace Modric and starts for the team right away, he and his mom will cry again.

I think it is what it is. Footballers nowadays have huge egos that come with being so successful so young. Usually someone will have to come from poverty to be humble and even then a lot of players from poor backgrounds are still twats. The only reason he is being sold is because he refuses to sign a new contract, PSG tolerated the drama before that and he was a good player for them, he is also considered a top midfield prospect by many clubs including Barcelona (they know their midfielders).

It's not even close to the Pogba situation, Pogba left rightfully so because SAF refused to play him when there was a huge need in middle of the park due to a bunch of injuries. Rabiot has been playing for PSG consistently and was part of the starting team until his falling out with PSG. One left because he was stagnating and not playing and showed he was more than ready once he got to Juventus, the other is a little twat that's had all the opportunities given to him to play and succeed but is so used to having everything handed to him the exact way he wants that he's still looking for his next job because some of the offers he's gotten are from clubs too small for him, like Tottenham.

Ah right, Pogba is the one who decides he is ready to play for United. Not Sir Alex Ferguson. How far up his arse do you have to be. Rabiot when he wanted game time went on loan to prove that he was ready for the first team. It is undeniable that what Pogba did was worse than what Rabiot did when they were starting their careers.

Rabiot is running down his contract because he doesn't want to play DM. Sounds awfully similar to our superstar, or was I just imagining the endless 'midfield 3' discussions on this forum. His ideal position even came up in interviews and he said he wanted to play in an advanced position.

Do we want someone who is determined to just play in one position or players who will be prepared to play elsewhere if required by the manager?

Pogba was going to leave if Mourinho didn't. It's safe to say that his position was part of that since he said that he wants to be an advanced midfielder. Rabiot was playing very well as a central midfielder before this fiasco, but PSG have been weak in midfield areas and so have utilised Veratti and Rabiot in more defensive areas. He doesn't want to play in that situation so he's leaving.

It seems that some have completely ignored the situation he is in. He is not being moved around because they have world class midfielders in spades, he is being moved around because PSG are thin in there. PSG's midfield should be Veratti, Rabiot and a DM.

What I am getting at is will he leave every club each time he has to move into a position he doesn't like? I could happen everywhere say there are a lot of injuries. I know that might not be the case at PSG, but most players will play anywhere just to play.

He was asked to move long term to a more defensive position. PSG have resorted to Marquinhos because Rabiot has been frozen out. Because Marquinhos is only good at breaking up the play, they've used Di Maria and Draxler a lot more since they can add creativity to the midfield. Presumably, he refused to sign a new contract because he didn't want to convert into a new position.

I doubt he would have a problem with covering for an injured player. But PSG are in the state they are because they did not replace Motta correctly and are trying to turn Rabiot into his replacement.

Did FFP impact because of the money they paid for Mbappe, because you would have thought they would just get who they needed or is it that Tuchel made a bad decision in replacing Motta?

The fact that he had an immediate impact at Juventus and Manchester United had to break a world-record to bring him back is all you need to know as far as how ready he was. Pogba was not even given the DM as an option, which he would have taken. He didn't care where, he just wanted to play at a time where there was no midfield and Rafael was put in there instead of him. Sorry, but you're just wrong on your comparison; it's not even remotely the same situation that's going on with Rabiot.

Only problem I could see is if He only wants to play as an attacking mid.

PSG have been trying to replace Motta since 2016 and failed mainly because they haven't been well run since Leonardo's departure, Tuchel wanted Weigl but Dortmund didn't want to sell him while the club failed to provide alternatives.

Pretty sure Tuchel would pay Woodward out of his own pocket for United to take him away from Paris.

Every time I see this thread at the top I'm hoping its good news regarding us trying to acquire him and every time I'm utterly disappointed seeing "TopReds" consistently telling us how terrible a signing he would be.

Me too. Certain members of our fan base are great at overrating and underrating in equal measure. Rabiot for free bar a signing on fee is a no brainer, we need better quality than McT and an aging and slow Matic.

That right there is key! We never go for value and now that there is an opportunity too I'd always take the risk giving he is actually better than most f our midfielders.

This is a stupidly obvious target for all the top clubs. When is the last time a player of this quality has been available on a free? For us, with or without Herrera, it would be a huge piece of business. He is superior to all our midfielders (maybe even outfield players) bar Pogba and getting him on a free opens up the opportunity to go for another midfield target too which we need. The lad is a prick but he has never been seen to underperform on the pitch because of his issues. Ideally him, Barella and a CDM are signed. If we keep Herrera then the CDM becomes a less important issue especially if we develop Garner in the right way.

I'd be surprised if we weren't interested, but equally surprised if we actually made any enquiry so far.
And even more surprised if he's actually interested.

We are actually one of the teams that have a spot for him right away unless Madrid are interested in him to replace Kroos or Modric. Barca are fine, City don't need him especially if he wants to play as an 8, Klopp uses midfielders to protect his defense and make sure VVD looks good. We have Martial and Pogba here. Why wouldn't he be interested?

Yes, most of the fanbase think McTominay and Lingard are genuine world class contenders and should be starting, we had one person here comparing Tuanzebe to De Ligt too. It's just astounding.

Declan Rice is far more the profile of player that we'd want if we can get him. Someone who has the warrior DNA who would feel honoured to pull on the jersey.

Rabiot has that French flair and could turn out to be a monster and I wouldn't say no but.... There are alarm bells being set off in the way himself and his mother conduct themselves.

Besides if he did come, then we'd have Mino and Mommy as the agents controlling our club and that doesn't seem right.
