Valencia is a big miss against Spurs not only because of the threat he would have provided going forward, but also his excellent workrate in terms of helping to neutralize Bale.

Giggs has been far better on the left than in the center this year.

Good news that he is not too far from a return and yes, Spurs is probably a huge game for us but, hope we don't play him if he isn't absolutely ready.

We are really going to miss him, what with Nani's abysmal form right now.

Nani just needs a run in the team. With Valencia out , it gives him a chance to get a bit of form back. Young's form is more worrying for me, he looks so uncertain every time he gets the ball.

If Nani gets a bit of confidence back, him and Valencia both in good form will be a massive boost for us in the run in.

    Yep

Well if Nani returns from a injury then he's always a bit "shit" in the first games.

    Valencia injury boost

Antonio Valencia could be fit in time to face Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Sunday 4 March.

The classy winger suffered a hamstring strain after coming on as a substitute in the first leg victory against Ajax in the Europa League and was expected to be out for around a month.

However, Sir Alex is hopeful that the right-sided midfielder will be back in contention for a starting spot against third-placed Spurs.

"The availability of Ashley Young and Nani as natural wide players considerably strengthens our attacking options," the boss wrote in his column for United Review, the official matchday programme. "And I am sure our strikers are pleased to see them.

"They will be sorry to see Antonio Valencia injured again because he too provides great service from out on his wing, but it's not a particularly serious injury and he should be back in a week or so."

Valencia will miss Sunday's trip to East Anglia to face Norwich City as the champions look to keep the pressure on Manchester City at the top of the table.

"A week or so". Nice try Fergie! I'm not falling for this one. I'll believe it when I see it.

Don't want Young playing against them, not been impressed with him since his return. He's always looked light but he plays as if he weighs four stone. And the rest of his game doesn't adequately compensate for that. Anyway, that's my opinion and for another thread.

I'm hoping he'll be at least in the squad to play Spurs. That said, when has Fergie ever told us the truth regarding injured players? If we all believed everything he said we'd be wanting rid of Rooney for being too injury prone..

Indeed. I have absolutely no faith in the accuracy of Fergie's injury updates.

In light of the Pogba thread which, to be quite honest, is fecking depressing, I've just realised that I have more man love for Valencia at this moment than I did even for Hernandez last year. I even had an Arsenal fan the other day tell me on a night out that Valencia was his favourite player - above Wilshere and even Van Persie.

Basically, I can't wait to see this guy play again. He's pretty much an enlightened footballer, which would otherwise have been a contradictory, paradoxical and oxymoronic concept.

To Antonio Valencia...the man with no agent:

If he were as comfortable with his left as he is with his right, he would've rendered football meaningless by now.

I think he did dip for awhile with the injuries. This season he's got stronger and been electric. Quality.

Words fail. Did somebody forget to tell him he's just back from injury so expectations were not that high?
