I bet my son £50 that Bent would score more premiership goals than Aguero this season
Bent guarantee's 10-15 goals so it's not a bad bet.
Who know how Aguero will play in tougher games. Everyone's quick to get their cock out to him at this early stage.
Robinho had a pretty good debut for city did he not? Deco was pretty awesome to. Lets see how it all goes first.
You're pretty much fucked I reckon. As good as Bent is, he wont have the service of last year, let alone compared to what Aguero will have (plus Aguero is just better)
With McLeish in charge, Bent will do well to even get 10 goals this season.
The man plays dour dour football.
Mutu, Mario Stanic, Fabrizio Ravanelli..
Fair to say my examples are more recent.
Ravanelli scored about 25 goals in that season for Boro to be fair.
Doesn't matter about the service difference. He score at Charlton and at Sunderland. He's a great striker because he delivers goals no matter what. Every team will create chances and he is the type that makes sure that you make the most of them.
Pay the lad
I'm not doubting Bent's ability, saying he will score less than Aguero is not a slight on his talent at all. But his chances are going to be limited with Villa in comparison to Aguero's. I can't see Vill winning many games by more than 2 or 3 goals, but if City's attack clicks in a game they could easily score 4,5 or more against a lot of teams in the lower half of the table.
Yes that's true. I was just pointing out that the lack of Downing or Young might not matter. He achieved 20 goals with Charlton. They've got N'Zogbia now who's very good and they're youngsters such as Albrighton are good passers.
I think it'll be very close. Aguero has all this competition to deal with and City are very defensive minded away from home.
Mate that was a terrible bet! Villa are utterly decimated after losing Young and Downing. N'Zogbia is more selfish and they don't have a complimentary right midfielder.
Start praying for an injury!!
Aguero is top notch. And I've said it before his debut. He'll tear defences apart, amazing little player. What a shame he's at City.
Bent might have a chance if Tevez stays
This is what puzzles me. People say every time Barcelona and Real win games that defenses in La Liga are shit, try doing that in the PL blablabla.
Neither Aguero or Torres banged in goals for fun in a better team than Bent has played in. Yet he's got the better record than the both of them.
Only way you'll win this bet is if Aguero gets injured for a long period of the season.
Moreover, Bent can't create goals on his own.Aguero has that ability.
Bent? seriously? you just chucked £50 away.
The '4 egos fighting for one spot scenario' hasn't kicked in yet. Bent is Villa's undisputed 'main man'
I think it will be much closer than others are pointing out but I fancy Aguero to score a few more.
Bent will have the luxury of not only being the first choice, but just about the only choice. Aguero has a lot of competition for playing time, especially given Mancini's usual one forward formation. Pending injuries, I'd reckon the deviation between the two is no more than two or three goals.
Aye. Aguero will be rotated quite a bit I expect as he's still recovering from Copa America plus City have to juggle European games.
Doesn't Darren Bent play for Aston Villa who are now managed by Alex McLeish....
That and I would expect the other city strikers to have limited playing time as they seem to prefer 1 man up top in a lot of games
Darren Bent will score more.
Unless De Jong puts in a really bad tackle during training, you're going to be paying up.
Darren Bent has got 17,24,12,6,13,18 goals in the last 6 seasons, and two of them in the middle he was far from first choice. That would be a fair amount for Aguero to get, I'm backing Bent.
Which is why he'll spend more time outside the box than in.
Does Aguero take penalties? Bent does.
Bent can do it at Stoke away on a wet Tuesday
Just a random bump!
The OP at least tried. Didn't quite work, but he tried.
Cheltenham just being a good father here that's all.
He's usually a good shout for top scorer. No real surprise his lowest tally came under the management of McLeish.
Despite backing him, Dzeko and Rooney for top scorer, I made money on that market this season.
LOL, Who is Bent????
Phew, I thought that the cafe had gone from "Chicharito vs Aguero", all the way to "Bent vs Aguero" based on the whole season for a second there..
How many games did he miss through injury at the end of the season? Always seems to be a good shout for at least 10-15 goals.
12. The bet wasn't actually the worst in the world, though with McLeish at the helm of Aston Villa and Aguero having better service there was only going to be one winner.
Separate names with a comma.
