I've just had a discussion with my old man about the best ever United XI with every player being a different nationality.

The rules are simple guys, pick your best United starting XI from any era and any manager. The only restriction is you can only have one player per nation.

Many of these will be similar but I think the variations are interesting.

    I went for a 4-3-3 consisting of:

GK - David de Gea - SPAIN

RB - Antonio Valencia - ECUADOR
CB - Jaap Stam - NETHERLANDS
CB - Nemanja Vidic - SERBIA
LB - Gabriel Heinze - ARGENTINA

CM - Paul Scholes - ENGLAND
CM - Roy Keane - ROI
CM - Paul Pogba - FRANCE

LW - Ryan Giggs - WALES
ST - George Best - NORTHERN IRELAND
RW - Cristiano Ronaldo - PORTUGAL

Can you quite imagine the celebration attempt when Pogba wants a dance off with Scholes and Keane?

    CB Pique (Spain)

    CM Veron (Argentina)
    CM Keane (Ireland)
    CM Scholes (England)

    ST Ronaldo (Portugal)
    ST Nistelrooy (Holland)
    ST Ibra (Sweden)

Gabriel Heinze simply can't be in the team :nono:

I would fix it by going 4-4-2 and swapping Pogba for Denis Law, which would enable you to pick Evra at LB. Would also pick Schmeichel over DDG.

    Schmeichel
    Valencia - Vidic - Stam - Evra
    Best - Scholes - Keane - Giggs
    Law - Ronaldo

    --------------- Schmeichel
    Valencia - Stam -- Vidic -- Evra
    Best -- Charlton -- Keane --- Ronaldo
    ---------------------Giggs
    ------------------Law

Based on their all time standings in the game. Best, Law, Charlton and Ronaldo always have to be in IMO

    Players I've seen:
    --------------------- De Gea
    Valencia --- Ferdinand ---- Vidic ---- Evra
    --- Ronaldo -- Keane --- Fletcher --- Giggs
    ----------------Yorke --- Van Nistelrooy

Admittedly most of Yorke I've seen is through highlights.

    Charlton Keane

    Best Giggs

    Law Ronaldo

That team would be able to compete against the best teams ever imo. However, Valencia is the obvious weak link.

On the basis Robson was a one man team at times, sure he can hold the fort while the rest attack.

Just want to say that many great players are forgotten. In terms of strikers for example Tommy Taylor had a great record and might have gone on to score many more goals for us. The fact some put Valencia in the team grates.

    GK Schmichael

    LB Evra
    CB Vidic
    CB Rio
    RB

    LW Giggs
    CM Keane
    CM Veron
    RW Kanchelskis

    CF Best
    CF Ronaldo

People are organising their teams from the viewpoint of nationality when they should be putting in the best players who deserve to be in there and then making decisions.

    Schmeichel

    Valencia
    Vidic
    Stam
    Irwin

    Ronaldo
    Charlton
    Giggs
    Best

    Law
    Cantona

Valencia is the odd man out as he is useless. But you have to have Cantona, Law, Best, Giggs, Charlton, Ronaldo, Irwin, and Schmeichel in any best ever United 11, never mind a different nationalities set-up.

Mine would be similar to yours but Ruud in for Tevez and would probably have to drop Cantona given the lack of LB options. Not seen Best live but have seen enough videos to put him into the team.

    Schmeichel
    Valencia Johnsen Vidic Evra
    Keane Scholes
    Ronaldo Best Giggs
    Van Nistelrooy

Meant to have Irwin instead of Evra. Irwin was a very good LB for us, solid player. If you put in Ruud instead of Tevez, you'd have to replace Stam though.
