Indeed. If we bottle it tonight I needed to really win a large sum of money to make up for it and I never bet high enough sums to really get a lot back.

I'm betting on City as, If United win or draw, feck the money. If we lose at least I got some dosh from it.

Like I said in another thread, fate will be sure of a nasty twist if you do that and he'll end up playing a blinder and getting 3 assists.

I put two relatively random bets on, even though they are highly unlikely if either come through i'll make a handsome return.

I put two £10 bets on.

If we win 4-3 then I win £1000
    But if it's a 4-4 draw I'll get a lovely £2000

That's great and all.... but I'd be surprised if there were more than 3 goals scored tonight let alone 7 or 8.

    I wouldn't. 12 goals in 2 games so far.

    I put a tenner on a 2-2 draw.

It's also a lose lose situation. You lose money or your team loses.

I don't enjoy it. Only ever put money on United in a way I'll always be wanting them to score, e.g. to score 3 or more goals.

I haven't bet on anything in ages and felt the urge. I don't actually think there's much chance that either of these bets will come through but if they do it'll be pretty nice :D

I used to always do the 'emotional hedge' when I lived in the UK. Now over in the US of A - did you know it's illegal to bet on most sports here?

    Sucks.

I don't know whether to do it now or wait and see if we take the lead.

I've done some scorecasts in our favour tonight, I never bet against us, and I'm not going to start now.

If we win, awesome. If we win and I win a scorecast, extra awesome. If we lose, then I'm going to miserable with or without money.

I just couldn't do this with my team... Not some kind of betrayal feeling, but I just think it takes away some of the joy from the games. I like being 100% behind my team, it's a weird feeling backing your team but knowing that down the line you can win something from their defeat. It mixes feelings. Same for knowing that their victory leaves me a bit poorer.

Half now, half later, I think that's how I'm going to do it. I'm monitoring the odds now, they are likely to change 10 or 20 minutes after the team sheets.

Agreed, I would never bet against Arsenal - any winnings would be dirty money anyway.

It's probably quite a safe bet to bet on a home win

I think City will scrap a win 1-0 or possibly 2-1 in a war of attrition.

I always do it, had £40 @ 5/4 and another £25 on them @ 6/5 to win tonight, also had £40 @ 9/4, £30 @ 10/3, and 2 £20's @ 9/2 (one of which was a free bet) on them to win the league, I really hope I lose the money on them winning the league but it's a bit of consolation if they do. I never ever back on United as I would hate to put the scud on them.

I did this for the first time for the CL final in Moscow. Since then I've been doing it for most important and big games. It's become sort of a superstition thing, even though I know how ridiculous that is. And it also obviously doesn't work anymore, given we lost the two CL finals since Moscow :annoyed:

Yesterday I've won about £200 but I have to say, this time it didn't console me one bit. I've put all my winnings from yesterday on Newcastle now.

I don't know what to spend my winnings on. The official Season Review DVD or one of those Champ20ns t-shirts?

Betting against United is one thing, betting on City to beat United is another. Surprised so many of you do it/did it/considered it.
