As per the title. Obviously we are not a selling club so you can pick player whose value at their peak while still play for us would be more than when we bought them.
I would say De Gea, Smalling and Jones would be the last 3 we bought that their stocks have gone above what we initially paid for them.

Though we didn't pay a fee for Romero I'd say his stock has certainly risen under us.

Problem is most of our squad were signed for a lot of money. Smalling was the cheapest and though Jones should be worth more than we paid for him by now, his many, many injuries are quite the deterrent.

Pogba, DDG, Bailly, Smalling, Martial and maybe Blind (can't remember how much we signed him for though, just assuming it was cheap).

    Matic.

As I personally wouldn't sell him for 100 million at this point.

    Add Pogba to that list.

I also think Herrera has gone up slightly.

A rather silly question since transfer prices have been increasing steadily for a long time

Most of our squad have gone up in price.

The reason why we don't get a lot of money for our players is because of their high wages. We must accept a lower transfer fee to compensate for a higher wage.

If we exclude inflation I'm not sure Martial and Pogba have really increased their value. Martial especially still has to be considered a talent 2.5 years down the road.

Even if we exclude inflation, if Madrid came in with an offer for £80m for Pogba in the summer, would United sell?

How much was Martial, fifty million? I don't think you'd get more than that for him. Pogba was 85 million, so it's difficult to appreciate in value from there.

De Gea definitely; his value has increased several fold. I'm struggling to think of others, but that's par for the course: United always pay top dollar for a player in his prime and rarely sell for a profit; Ronaldo being the best of example of a massive net profit.

Pogba basically cost a world record fee at the time. Post Neymar that would mean around €200m, if we keep proportions intact. To me Pogba has roughly kept his status in the game.

With inflation he'd be much more expensive. Like Jose said, this transfer would be viewed differently in the following summer and he was proved right. Why would we sell even for 150m? Irreplaceable.

I agree in the case of Martial, but not Pogba. He's in no way gotten worse since leaving Juventus. I'd even argue that he's better now, because he's become a leader and an inspiration for the rest of the team. You can tell from the body language of the other outfield players whether Pogba is playing or not. He's that influential.

And then you have to take his age into consideration. He's still probably a few years away from his prime, which means that whoever wanted to sign him in january would be likely to get his best years.

Bailly as well, in this market when you see what dross is going around for £30M CB's you'd have to say we've done well with Bailly. Rojo for 16M as well.

Not sure about what the fee might be, but you're right his value has increased, even on 85 million.

Martial right now I'd be asking for 80m. Dave about the same, Pog 130-150m.

In today's inflated market, I would just sell them the right to Pogba's 'dabbing videos' for 80M, not him.

Pogba - Worth £100m+ now easily.

Bailly - Probably worth more than £30m looking at the market, he's shown he's a really talented front-foot defender, just needs to stay fit, cut out the rashness and the lapses in concentration. Not a lot more, I just think given his age and talent he's more like a £40m player.

Martial - £38m I think initially, rising to £52m? United won't have paid all that yet, even so I think he's worth more than that when you factor in age, talent, potential and his current form. He's probably a £65m+ player nowadays.

Rojo - I'm not a massive fan of him as he can be rash and isn't very good technically but probably worth more than £16m, he's a great stopper-style CB. Gotta be worth £20m+, injury-record might hurt him a bit though.

Blind - Probably worth more than £14m now if United were to sell him. Not had a bad United career, still got years left in him, versatile and intelligent and good technically. £20m+

    De Gea - Self explanatory.

Smalling - Worth way more than £10m. Probably around £25m-30m range.

Romero - Bit of a cheat one, but he was free, so...

You'd pay up to 30 million for Chris Smalling? I have a used car I'd like to sell you.......

Transfer price has gone skyrocket for the last 3 year. Yet I think we wouldn’t get what we paid for if we were selling these players today.
    - Shaw
    - Mata
    - Mkhi
    - Martial
    - Lukaku
    - Fellaini.
    - Herrera
And they are pretty much still in their prime.

De Gea, Valencia, Smalling, Jones, Bailly, Young, Pogba, Romero, Rojo, Carrick and many others could have been sold (or still could) for more than their original transfer price at some point.

That despite the fact we are forced to buy high and players often stay for a long time. The fact that we don't sell players at their peak cannot be used as a stick to beat us with.

Carrick was an £18m purchase but nobody would have ever wanted us to sell him for all the seasons he was worth more than that. Keeping him to the point he's worth nothing is not a bad thing.

Exceptions to that self-invented rule would be Mata & Fellaini who nobody else would have paid those figures for and never will. And possibly Matic, Martial, Shaw and Miki but it's a lot less fair to include them, all for different reasons.

Erm, there is no real "market value" in absolute terms but simplifying it to a situation conducive to selling, we'd easily be able to sell more than 3 of them for more than what we got them for.

Every Used Car in the world is not worth 40m+, that is called inflation. Say you are after any seasoned CB in the league and try to make an offer less than 40m? Smalling is not my favourite CB but any offer less than 40m is a rip off.

De Gea - Without any doubt.
Bailly - Signed for 30 Million, easily worth more than that.
Jones - Signed for 16 Million, only thing that stops getting bigger fee is his injuries.
Rojo - Signed for 16 Million, easily worth more than that.
Pogba - signed for 89 Million, clubs will easily pay more than that.
Martial - Signed for 36 Million plus addons, now even just a young players with potential are worth that much. One of the best young talent in the world.
Smalling - 10 million, there are at least 15-16 clubs in PL who will pay more than that to sign him
Blind - 14 Million, again worth more than that.
    Romero - free transfer

It's all well and good but these players won't leave ManUtd, so clubs interested won't be making any bids. Players we will offload are usually are of no use to us, so will fetch smaller fee than other players from other clubs.

That's being pretty generous to Smalling, Rojo and Jones too. I'd imagine the English tax would add a few millions, and we'd probably just about make a profit on Rojo.

It is hard to say because market changed. Example rojo was 20mil euros. Today we would pay 30 at least. Martial was 70. Today he would be 90. And i am talking about sporting rojo and monaco martial. So for most of our players that we have bought we can get at least the same fee today.

But if i must pick 3 player with biggest value:
    Pogba-150 mil
    Martial- 100 mil
    De gea- 100 mil

We could easily get £15-20m for Smalling at the very least if we were being sensible. I reckon Arsene would pay that for a start.

. Not sure that rationale holds, a world record doesn't mean the best! For example I don't think we would have got Neymar for the same price we got Pogba, similarly Messi or Ronaldo. Therefore the top end doesn't dictate the market. A better indication might be some of the average players going at £50m! That's a true realisation of the scale up, but even on that basis it might mean inflated Pogba is £120m, but his market price might just be ahead of that.
