So we play away first against the Spanish club and then at Old Trafford a week later.

    Lyon meets Ajax.

I don't think we should be scared, we should beat anyone of those remaining in the EL. We'll win, but we'll make it difficult for ourselves by missing a shed load of chances.

Hopefully we will have enough healthy defenders for the games.

Content with that but it's not going to be easy - especially with the injuries.

Lyon were the ones to avoid. Probably wanted Ajax most.

Early prediction - away draw followed by home win.

Yeah happy enough with that. The way i see it all 3 other clubs are good sides so i think the most important thing was to be away first leg IMO.

What are the fixtures before and after each leg?

    EDIT:

    23.4 Burnley (A)
    27.4 City (A)
    30.4 Swansea (H)
    4.5 Celta (A)
    7.5 Arsenal (A)
    11.5 Celta (H)
    14.5 Spurs (A)

    Crunch time :nervous:

Gonna be a tough tie but we should go through, the away leg first is a added bonus.

Looking forward to it. Quite excited to be in the semi's of the EL tbh. The remaining teams are decent so it doesn't feel like such a tinpot competition anymore.

After Ajax were drawn first I was praying that we would come out of the 2nd ball. Short trip to the Netherlands with 2nd game at Old Trafford would have been ideal.

That said, I prefer Celta to Lyon but it's not gonna be an easy game. Spanish teams are always decent at possession football and Celta will be no different.

We should be qualifying though. We must. We are the favourites in this tie.

Going to be tough, for sure, but I do fancy us beating them over two legs rather then them raising their game for a one off 90 min.

Always worried when it comes to Spanish teams. Especially one that has players that used to play for Liverpool and City (Aspas and Guidetti).

Hope we can settle it in the away game.

Could suit us having a side coming at us and trying to dominate possession - are they that sort of side?

They are 10th in La Liga.

    Why are we dreading this.

Like someone said earlier, Bilbao were 10th too. You can never be sure when it comes to Spanish teams, they really love Europe.

Who isn't beating Barca these days?
I've never seen a group of fans dread every fixture like this place.

I actually think that Celta is far more dangerous team than both Lyon and Ajax so I am happy we got to play them in semifinal, and away game first too. I would be more worried if it was one game in the final, less chance of us fecking it up over two legs.

I don't see anyone dreading it, to be fair. And it's got nothing to do with Celta specifically, it's the fact that we've been really shite at putting poor teams to the sword this season. Last night was yet another demonstration of that.

Celta have scored 48 goals in 31 league games, exactly same as ManUtd. But like ManUtd they have scored decent number of goals in Europa.

We should take these lots apart. They are 10th in La Liga and their home form is dreadful.

And they are 10th on the La Liga table.

By the way, it was 2-2 against Madrid in their home game. They lost 2-1 at Madrid. Their win was in the Copa Del Rey cup. Against Barca at home, they won 4-3. If that was a cup knockout tie, Barca would have had 3 goals away. :)

Anyway, just saying that they are not so scary. United just needs to take them seriously, cut out mistakes and finish a lot better.

Oh God not that Sisto lad again, he ripped us a new ahole when we played Midgtylland. It's a big opportunity for Iago Aspas to show the World he's not a complete shithouse after his embarrassing appearance in the Prem.

I'd much rather they were challenging for fourth, think they'll save their best eleven for us and rotate heavily in the preceding La Liga games.

Because we can't score goals that is why.

And also they are a bunch of game raising cnuts if they can beat Madrid and Barca.

But must say I wasn't overly impressed with their games versus Genk. If we finish our chances we should definatley go through but after last night I don't dare to say anything anymore. This team makes things far too complex and far too difficult than they should be for me to say we will just get past them like that.

Yeah but they've shipped in 51 goals too, which is more than double what we've conceded (24). It really would be a major feck up if we fail to qualify over 2 legs

Yeah and lost 13 games I think. But like few said they are very strong at home and good at counter attacking.

They're also 10th in their league so there's some issues there somewhere. I hope we've been keeping a keen eye on them this season. I saw a few people saying Aspas (from Liverpool) and Guidetti (from City) are their best players. Also seen people say they aren't as good as they were last season.

Perfect draw again though, what I would have picked if I could choose, same as last round, even having the home leg 2nd is ideal.

We've lost our top scorer and best defender - on top of which we will have to do without our next top scorer (Mata) for the rest of the season.

The idea that we remain 'favourites' for some is baffling to me. We didn't exactly make light work of Anderlecht.

They don't have a squad deep enough to face 2 competitions, they focused EL this season.

United still the clear favourite here, plus side Celta play a beautiful football so we should get some enjoyable matches

You didn't mention that they have conceded 51 goals while United has only conceded 24. They have also lost 13 games while we have lost only 3.

In an ideal world, we should take them apart.

It's a semi final! Regardless of what team it is, you expect it to be a tough game. We just need to make sure we approach this the right way. If we do that, on paper, we should be beating Celta Vigo, but like I said, it's a semi.

Glad we got away draw first. Hopefully we can get an away goal or two and take that back to Old Trafford.

    I did in other post.

We would have loved this draw if we were in CL, would have loved any of the 3 if it was in CL KO. So no excuses, we should concentrate on Europa and should win it.
