United haven't been good enough this season to presume they'll take two CL semi finals with League games vs Arsenal and Chelsea sandwiched in between in their stride.

and if we lose either one of the two league games we're up against it. If Chelsea have the incentive they'll probably win all of their other games quite comfortably.

Which is why the six point cushion will be enough to carry us over the line.

Which would leave us 2 clear of Chelsea, even if they won every game other than us.

With the Schalke games inbetween that lot I'd say theres a very good chance that we could drop points in 3 of those games

Unless we lose twice, in which case it probably wont.

We should win it, but we've hardly swept all challengers aside in a manner which gives me supreme confidence we're incapable of buggering it up.

Yes, we'd finish on 79pts and them on 77pts. They could win every game but ours, and it wouldn't matter.

Said all season its ours. We'll win it, no worries.. especially after the latest pair of bottle jobs Arsenal have produced. It's the CL we should be concerned with for now.

For us to have to beat either Arsenal or Chelsea we will have to drop 7 more points in the run-in, which means we are only allowed to pick up 5 out of 12 remaining points at most. We're not allowed to beat more than one of Blackburn, Blackpool and Everton.

Said it last night its the Blackburn game that i dont like the look of, its a horrible fixture weve struggled so many times down the years at Ewood Park, i actually worry more about that one than going to Arsenal.

What i dont want is us having dropped 5 points in the Arse-chavs game leaving us just 1 point ahead having to go to Blackburn, thats a scenario that would worry me.

Don't know how people can be fully confident playing Chelsea and Arse either side of Champions League games. They very rarely go well for us.

Okay, I'll try to be objective... and perhaps the worse case scenario in my opinion:

    W - Everton
    D - Arsenal
L - Chelsea (In all honesty, I don't think we'll lose it, but I suspect we may struggle due to the midweek CL semi)
    W - Blackburn
    W- Blackpool

    Those six points eh. Vital.

Were in a good position and I'm confident, but I don't see what's changed to warrant this thread. If anything chelseA are closer than they were two days ago.

We lost to chelseA and Liverpool earlier, we could do the same with arsenal and chelseA. and blackburn is a tough tough game.

So basically, still lots to be done.

I agree, id take 2 draws right now and be delighted, you just know Fergie will protect players for the Schalke games.

Chelsea have been in good form in the League for a while.

I've had Arse as out of the race since that draw against Sunderland.

Yep, personally I think we can afford to send weakened sides to our nearest rivals and play for draws if need be. We have a really good chance to make a CL final for the third time in 4 years. It should be a priority now.

What's their current form like? Oh and they did lose a couple in the CL, despite them not being league games. But they were important matches nonetheless. I can't see them winning their last five games.

Is two weeks really 'a while'? And they've only had one relatively tough fixture during that period, home games again Wigan and Birmingham are as good as 3 points.

Bloody Hell! I was quietly confident before I read this thread.....some of you lot really are 'glass half empty' merchants.
    Have some Faith!
Our home form has been fantastic, trust it!... and why all the pessimism about playing Arsenal and Chelsea, teams we have already beaten twice this season?

Six wins in their last seven League games. They're in better form in the league than us, and have an easier run in.

The difference between Chelsea and Arsenal is that Chelsea going out of the CL makes them MORE likely to win their remaining league games.

They've lost seven games this season. I mean, usually champs don't lose more then six. I suspect they've got another defeat in them and all.

Yep, in Chelsea's last 6 matches they've won 5 and drawn 1. They have the best form in the league right now.

Tbf since we handed their asses on a plate (Chelsea), they've upped their game and Ancellotti is actually playing the best system that this Chelsea side has to offer. He's including Kalou & Malouda in the same side, which provides them some much needed width and stretches the game for the likes of Lampard & Essien. Picking Drogba over Torres, also looks to be the sensible preferred option now.. so I reckon unless Ancellotti fecks it up for himself once again, we can expect a much sterner test than the one they gave us in the CL.
