Thursday @ 5 PM British time. United confirmed in pot 2 regardless of what happens in the play-off second legs.

Feck I'll be halfway across the Atlantic when it's getting drawn.
I'll take Monaco, olympiakos, and Celtic.

As long as we avoid Napoli/Roma/Leipzig I think our draw will be ok. Obviously nice also to get a smaller pot 1 team but I'm more worried about getting a dark horse from one of the lower pots

It's actually better to be in pot 2 than pot 1 this year it seems.

My dream group would be with Bayern, Napoli and Celtic. Screw easy groups, I want some great European encounters.

Easiest would be Spartak or Shakhtar, Anderlecht and one of Maribor, Steaua and APOEL.

I only want to avoid Leipzig because they are good but not a top tier team, so I'd actually prefer to draw a tougher team out of pot 1 and 3 and have some classic Euro ties rather than play a tricky team without soul. Given the choice of Spartak and Leipzig and Bayern and Celtic I would much prefer the latter even if it is harder for us.

I really, really want big games. We haven't had a big Champions League game since 2013 and our game against Real Madrid. Our last group with Wolfsburg, CSKA and PSV was boring as hell.

Give us Real Madrid, Bayern or Juventus from pot 1, nice please.

Juve, Anderlecht and Maribor please! Juve simply for the old times, really enjoyed our games vs them plus would be nice to see atleast 2 competitive games in the group.

First pot is interesting. 3 of the best teams in the world. 1 good team in Monaco, but one we have decent chances to beat. Then 3 not so strong teams. Nightmare would be Real Madrid/Bayern with Roma and Napoli. We should have slightly over 20% chance to get Real Madrid just trying to count on it intuitively. To avoid that and I think we will be fine.

Benfica/Shaktar/Spatak/Monaco. All relatively good draws from pot 1.

    Benfica/Us/Anderlecht/Feyenoord.

Probably best possible draw when you factor in travel.

I'd love a big team that's not Madrid from pot 1 and then 2 of the lesser teams from 3 and 4.

Someone like Juve would be ideal.

Just calculated our chances roughly to get into a nightmare group. Should be around 11-14% chance to get a group with either Bayern or Real Madrid and Napoli/Roma. So roughly 1/8 chance to get a group of death for us.

My brother, Dad and a few of my mates are all Celtic fans. I would love to see us draw them, make for some great encounters I think. Don't mind who else we draw as I would like to see us play some real European Heavyweights and Celtic would be a great tie as said.

Pot 2 is actually more favourable than pot 1 looking at those teams.

I actually hope we get one top team. As much as an easier group would be a great convenience for us, I've missed the spectacle of the CL and would love to see a clash against a fellow European giant instead of having to wait till the KO stages (should we progress). I don't think realistically that we will win this time around - maybe Semi's if we do very well - so our opportunity to play the top teams might be limited to a few games. Mourinho gave some good points in his conferences in that this CL will be the first real experience for many of our players. So naturally I want them to experience the very best of what the competition has to offer, if it is possible. We already had a learning experience against Madrid in the Super Cup final, and no doubt that was valuable for the team.

I also think we will be much better next time. We are not as far off Europe's elite as people may think. Real Madrid are the exception, but then who else is really close to them at this time? Certainly not Barca.

Personally I would think that Real Madrid, Napoli and Leipzig would be the hardest group we could get.

I'd prefer not to draw any of the following teams: Real/Spartak -- Napoli/Besiktas -- CSKA/Karabakh

The worst case scenario would be a group with 3 very strong teams and one whipping boys. That way you can get 10 points and still fail to qualify.

Real, United, Napoli, Maribor/Celtic would not be good.

Especially as I think Celtic would raise their game against us.

We might've used up our "please don't draw them" luck in the Europa last season.

Bring them on, I feel like a big tie again anyway.

As a Liverpool fan, IF we get through I'd want 3 biggish teams. Seem to perform much better against the best (as seen by last seasons results against the top 5) than the lesser teams (losing to Hull, Palace, Bournemouth etc). Either that or some tasty ulterior motive fixtures.

Bayern, Sevilla for revenge and Celtic to spank Brenton would be my ideal group.

Edit. Wtf are Karabakh? Only just noticed them. Almost like they're making up a random PES team every season now. I bet United get them :D

I'd like to see how we fare against Bayern Munich. Firstly, to know our level (we did well against Real) and secondly because Ancelotti's Bayern are slightly gung-ho. Mourinho will fancy getting a result against them.

Easy teams from pot 3 and 4 please.

Totally with you on that one. That's what we are here for. Though that's hard to believe after reading some of the really mentally weak posts in this thread.

I fancy Spartak or CSKA for obvious reasons. Both have new decent stadiums too.

As long as we avoid madrid we have a shot at top spot. Ideally avoid roma/napoli to ensure we get top 2 without much fuss.
    Dream group or me:
    • Juve
    • United
    • Olympiacos
    • Celtic
Get 1 big game which will be tight to test ourselves against, then 2 lesser teams with big atmospheres and decent history where we should get full points from.

You want at least one big name in your group, otherwise the group stages just becomes a chore. Juve would be my choice.

Moscow or Donetsk would be ok but then it involves travelling to Eastern Europe in midweek. Monaco aren't as strong as last season but they might still have enough. Benfica is probably the best to come up against. Juve, Madrid and Bayern would be too strong and we'd be aiming for 2nd.

    I don't want Celtic.

We seem to always get either them or Rangers whenever there is a chance. It's boring now. It would be their cup final too.

If we get a top team from pot 1 I'd want Juventus. Been ages since we played them and it's just a classic fixture.
