There is no way we won't go for him in the summer if other clubs do so. He'd be a marketing dream for us in our key market and he's one of the bright talents in Europe as well, so it's a no brainer. I do wonder if it would be wise to keep hold of Mhkitaryan, maybe use him as bait if needed.

You'd think that any club with American owners (and the means to do so) would find the proposition of signing him fairly irresistible.

If we get Sanchez then this isn't happening. No way he comes here to try and get a first team spot for the next few years. He'll want a team that can almost assure that.

Yeah, I can see Glazers willing to pay a lot (break our transfer record at least) for him if they or whoever the football guys in charge of transfers think he's going to be great soon. Having an American soccer star would send our marketing team into a frenzy.

This is what im afraid of as well. However, i think he might stay at Dortmund for another year or 2 yet, and he would probably be wise to. Although its nice to think we would match anyone else's ambition to sign him. He could play on either wing as well, there would surely be room for him here when you think we might be a few players less in the summer and beyond too.

Sanchez and Pulisic can play in the same set up.

I don’t think the Alexis transfer would have much bearing, given their relative ages and roles within the team. Not to mention we were surely in for a top forward anyway regardless of Pulisic.

If anything, it’d be the form of Lingard and Martial impressing enough that the cost wouldn’t be worth it at the time.

And what about Rashford, Mata, Martial and Lingard? Where do they fit in?

Martial would play and the rest you mention would be on the bench.

So stunting Rashford's development is something that people actually want to happen??
Is that something that would make people happy??

Not for me it isn't, I would far rather have Rashford playing that sign Pullisc if that was the choice.

Same goes for Lingard, he is playing unbelievably well, and it seems people are just happy to see him not do so to accommodate some shiny new signing, a terribly poor attitude to have, we should want to see our younger players playing for us, not wishing they didn't, and for someone else to come in and to take their place in the team!

I would rather have Sanchez and Pulisic starting over Lingard and Rashford. Rashford is good a talent but I'm not convinced he's gonna be a permanent fixture for us in the long run. I hope he proves me wrong. Lingard has done very well but someone like Sanchez would quite clearly be a upgrade playing behind Lukaku.

There is just so much that I fundamentally disagree with, you would rather two players come in and see two of our most promising youth trained talents suddenly not play, or even as often as they currently are??

We should want the younger players to play, especially if they are as good as Lingard and Rashford.

We are known for our youth development, and having that stat about having one in the side going back to the 30's, that is something that we should be proud of, and want to see continue for as long as possible.

What is it about Lingard's 11 goals, and I think 7 assists this season, that makes you not want to see him play as often as he has this season?

What is it about Rashford that you don't think is good enough, or not worth trying to develop further?

I would far rather see these two in the side, then the two signings that you put forward, as they are what separates us from the other random clubs out there, our core belief in young players, and giving them opportunities to grow and develop.

Homegrown talent is all well and good, of course it is a staple of our club and long may it continue but lets not kid ourselves here, we want to be competing with top clubs, that means having top players and top talents, even if we have to sign them. Sanchez is a level above both Lingard and Rashford without question and Pulisic, if he continues his pattern, has the potential to be one of the worlds best for sure.

Now, of course, i'm ecstatic to be seeing our home grown talent doing so well, Lingard in particular, he's in the form of his life at the moment and doing great for us, but he's 25 and we've seen seasons upon seasons of average play and ability from him before this, he needs to be in this form a hell of a lot more consistently before he's considered a top player for us in my opinion.

In regards to Rashford I think the cracks have shown a little bit, with people complaining about selfish behaviour, poor finishing and maybe even attitude, who knows, but something seems a little... off, especially in recent weeks, however he has scored 9 this seasons so far and of course he's still young with great potential, you can say he needs to play upfront or he's not a winger, but is he a better player or does he have more potential than Martial? Not for me and is he going to displace Lukaku upfront anytime soon? Unfortunately I don't see that happening either, I personally don't think he should be setting up in LW on a permanent basis because I think we can do better in the LW position, he's a tough one to call because he has the ability in abundance, but I do believe he suffers from a little overhyping.

I want to see us compete with best teams in Europe and actually try and win the UCL. With Sanchez replacing Lingard and Pulisic playing RW, I believe we would be stronger as a team and it would be a upgrade on both Rashford and Lingard. Rashford no doubt has potential but he still needs to work on certain facets of his game and I don't think he'll ever be a winger.

As far as bringing young players through I believe we have some fantastic youngsters at the club in our u-18 team and they will prolong our record of bringing young players through to the first team in the near future. Showing blind faith in certain youngsters isn't a very good idea or else we will fall further behind.

    3 forward positions requires 6 forwards;

    Lukaku
    Sanchez
    Martial
    Pulisic
    Lingard
    Rashford.

Mkhi is likely off in the next 2 weeks and that would leave Mata as a 7th squad forward as extra cover for if we use the 4-2-3-1.

America's first potential world class player who was a boyhood United fan and has the look and play style to be hugely marketable, I can't believe we wont go for him.

Sanchez as the 10, with Pulisic and Martial either side.

I'd rather we stear clear of the 4-2-3-1 and let Pogba shine properly in a 4-3-3, not stuck sitting deep to accomodate a #10/SS.

I'm a big fan of Pulisic but if we have Sanchez on board and Mourinho wants to play a 3 man midfield then it's best to get someone who will help us get the most out of Pogba's ability.

In that case I hope Pulisic stays at Dortmund for a couple of years.

The thing is we'll need competition and cover and rotation in that front 3, Sanchez has also played an awful lot of football so it would be wise to not have him ran into the ground the way we are with Matic. I think if Sanchez does happen then we'll no longer be going for one of the marquee forwards this summer but a versatile young attacker like Pulisic would be ideal, he can play RW and LW equally well, and this would also mean we could give Martial some games at striker as well.

That list of 6 is brilliant and something i'd love to see come summertime, I think it would suit the team quite well in any formation, be it 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1 or 3-5-2, with virtually every player in that list bar Lukaku being quite interchangeable and dynamic in their positions, loads of young attacking flair and explosiveness. Love to see this happen, i just hope Lingard kicks on from his great play as of late and that Rashford develops more.

You don't buy a player who'll cost 70m-80m Euros as a rotation player. Pulisic is a young player who needs regular starts to realize his immense potential. With Sanchez in he won't be getting the appearances he needs. Jose pretty much runs plays his top players every game. Under Jose his starts would be more sporadic than at any other club.

Whoever we buy to add to the attack in the summer will surely be young and expensive regardless, and bar Lukaku we have rotated the forwards a lot this season.

It would give us the kind of depth you need these days, and a lot of versatility to boot, look at City with Bernardo and either Aguero or Jesus on the bench, players like Di Maria and Draxler unable to be automatic starters at PSG, young talents like Asensio and Ceballos to come off the bench for Real Madrid, we need to be matching up with these clubs.

Why are people convinced he is off?

Dortmund are going to demand a Dembele fee as they don’t need to sell. Considering his marketability he’d probably go for more.

Are Liverpool really going to spend £130m because that is what Dortmund are going to ask for. Especially as they already have Mane and Salah.

Yeah they spent big on Keita and Van Dijk but that was because they knew Coutinho would be off.

Look at City trying to sign Sanchez right now.

There's no problem signing lots of good attackers.

Besides: Rashford & Martial are ultimately Centre forwards. Mata doesn't suit our system. Lingard is a huge question mark in terms of what his true level is.

You think Jose will rotate Sanchez? He'll fall in the category Lukaku, Pogba and Matic, players who play most of time when fit.

I guess who we buy will also depend on the formation Jose wants to play predominantly. If he wants to use Pogba in his best position, like he has in the last two games, then we'll need to add a midfielder or two to the squad to make it happen. We would also need a player with better attacking ability and crosses on him than Valencia on the right as Sanchez will most likely operate in a free role starting from the right. Also, as Jose is not a fan of Martial and Rashford for the striker position, we definitely will add a back-up striker to Lukaku.

If he plans to continue with the 4231 he has used so far, then we may need a better number 10. Pulisic can play there, but my personal preference would be one of Fekir or Lemar. Players who can easily be deployed at 10 or coming in from the flanks.

Didn’t know that he was a United fan! Damn it!! I am hoping that Klopp can somehow encourage him to join us. But we all can agree that he is a serious prospect and while, he wont be cheap, he would be a great addition to any team. Can see him going in the summer rather than January.

Watching him vs Hertha at the moment, looks the most dangerous player in the Dortmund side. Would love to sign this guy.
