Home team gets to play on their home jersey. That means, if that teams jersey is red, we may not be able to wear red jersey. We have to choose our second jersey (blue) for the match.

They knocked Madrid out of the Copa Del Rey. Celta will be facing Barca in the finals.

Edit: Celta lost to Alaves so it's Alaves that play the finals of Copa Del Rey.

The most important thing right now is to hope that both Rashford and Herrera can keep their form, then there's still a pretty good chance. Would also be a bonus to see Ibrahimovic and Rojo to get back, but not that likely.

Couldn't care less if they've beat Barca or Madrid or whoever. If we can't beat teams like Celta Vigo over 2 legs we don't deserve to be anywhere near the Champions League next season.

I agree with you but there is definitely a difference facing Lyon first and then Ajax in the final. Just makes it easier imo.

Yeah I really don't they'd be back in time, so most definitely Rash has got to keep his scoring form. Martial needs to get going, this whole season its been stop and start, so can't even really rely on him that much. But all round we should have more than enough to see them off.

It goes both way, if they play like they did against Genk they will have very little chance.

Do agree with you, it's a tough draw, but as it should be at this stage of the competition. We can't expect to have a free ride to the trophy.

We need to score a few in Vigo as they're definitely scoring at OT. I fancy one of Aspas and Guidetti to grab a goal in one of the two ties. I'm confident we'll win but then again, I was extremely confident for Anderlecht too.

So all we have to do for CL next season is beat Celta Vigo and one of Lyon / Ajax.

That's really an excellent position to be in. I still think we can finish in the top 4 but this route is much easier, we should be resting players before each EL game.

Pione Sisto (scored in both QF legs) is a former FM wonderkid. Actually their attack looks pretty dangerous.

That 100% home record at home in the Europa League has really held us back.

It was practically full strength teams in both legs, though we had a couple of injuries, the main one being Vidic out for the season.

1st leg: De Gea, Rafael, Smalling, Evans, Evra, Giggs, Park, Jones, Young, Rooney, Hernandez

2nd leg: De Gea, Rafael, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra, Giggs, Park, Carrick, Cleverley, Young, Rooney

Apart from Nani, and maybe Welbeck, that was arguably the strongest teams we could field in both games. We lost to them because they were better. Their tactics gazumped us, and their pressing was insane.

Yes. But your point could've been applied to any of the teams in the draw. People are reacting as though we've been drawn against a Juve/Bayern/Real/Barca type team.

Rather face Celta over two legs they are very handy who frequently give the Spainish big boys a tough task.

I don't rate Celta's goalkeeper at all. He's a bit of a disaster waiting to happen, which is why I assume they've been trying to use Blanco (but keeps getting injured in training).

Aspas is the main danger man for Celta, shut him down and we should be ok. Our defensive injuries might be an issue, I think it's a good thing we avoided Ajax tbh, as I think they'd cause havoc to a team struggling with defensive stability.

Going to be a tough one because they'll raise their game. Should still be coming out with a pass to the final though. We're not exactly making things easy for ourselves still

Ajax-Lyon first leg will be played May 3th at 18.45 instead of on May 4th, due to death remembrance in Amsterdam that day.

In my opinion the toughest draw..

However, considering where we were a few years ago it is sad that we now sh** our pants due to a draw against Celta - how times change..

Our first leg midfield is something he will never pick for a premier league game. I went to this game to Old Trafford and was terribly disappointed with myself for choosing this game (Holiday, time, journey, money everything seemed wasted to see a weakened lineup) before kick off when the team is read out. I remember thinking that he is taking this competition very easy as he does with league cup games or initial rounds of fa cup games. Second leg in away he played a proper team relatively but found inadequate.

Mourinho will not do that mistake.

Thats basically all I am saying.

We have to play well to win, and it will be a challenge, but this club has been built on challenges.

Tbf its only Celta Vigo. I assume they are gonna go all in and try to make the best out of both games but its still only Celta Vigo.
If he don't manage to get past them in the semis, whats exactly the point in playing in the CL next year ?

They are average at best and they pretty much get beat up by every top or decent side in La Liga. They are currently in 10o if Im not mistaken

Someone please remind me, if we win Europa and finish fourth do we help PL 5th team make the CL and thus potentially help Liverpool?

    No.

Only the top 4 would make it into the champions league in that case.

The only way England would have had 5 teams is if we win Europa and Leicester had won the champions league.

No, 5th place never qualifies for the CL regardless of what other teams have won.

Not true, the top 4 qualify and England would have 5 places if we win the Europa and don't finish top 4.

Please can we keep the discussion here to the draw and confine the chat about our semi-final to the thread in the MUFC forum? Thanks.
