We talked early in the season about the blitz that we have in the final 10-15 minutes of games. But, it's also noticeable that we may struggle for long stretches of matches, but once we score, we tend to score another goal in the space of few minutes. Here are few examples:

    West Ham: 87, 90
    Swansea: 80, 82, 84
    Everton: 83, 89, 92
    CSKA (away): 18, 26
    Watford: 19, 25, 32
    Arsenal: 4, 11
    CSKA (Home): 64, 66

So, the blitz is not just in the closing stages of games when the opposition is tired, but tend to happen early in or in the middle of games too. We appear to do a good job in using these moments (after scoring the first) to put the deflated opposition away. It will be interesting to see if we can do that against the big teams, starting this weekend.

It may be dry for us, but when it rains... it pours!

Will be very great weekend if we can win against city by doing that, even better at 89' and 90'+1' :D

    I would take that :D

But, I prefer to have an early lead against them... and have them chase the game! I want to see City feeling hopeless. It’s time to taste their own medicine!

If we struggle for 89 minutes of each match for the rest of the season then score a winner in the 90th minute I’ll be a happy fan, it’s not like we’re not playing well (when Pogba is playing) and simply a case of not taking chances at times.

    Yes, I do.
90'+6' would be even better. Give 'em a taste of their own medicine, the spawny bastards.

    You wicked one. :D

    I love that.

Make them suffer all game and while they are thinking of one of those 'Raheem Time' goals, we nail them with a second one.

What would I give to listen to Pep saying, 'United didn't come to play football. Only we came to play. The team that came to play lost the game.'

The thread title means misfortunes or difficult situations tend to follow each other in quick succession.

    Thread title changed.

I thought someone had a family member die or some big disaster or something FFS.

Please make the title a bit more relevant and less heart in mouth.

OK, I'm sorry people. Why you keep talking about the title? (and it has been changed already).

I remember a conversation I had with a mate of mine who is a lifelong Chelsea supporter, and he mentioned something along those lines about Mourinho's teams.
He told me that Mourinho would set up to contain the opponents, but then blitz them for 20 minutes, get their goals, then revert to containing.
As the opponent pushed further and further forward to get back into the game, Mourinho's team would hit them with swift counter attacks, and nick another goal.

This is very much a Mourinho trait. He’s said many times in his career that he likes his teams to ‘kill’ when they are in a period of strength in a match.

Chelsea did it often, particularly in his first spell, and then he’d simply lock it up and throw away the key for the rest of the game.

Can’t recall either. Obviously overall dominance was typically far greater with Real so I imagine goals flowed throughout their games.
