We've reached the stage where the clubs playing in Europe join the draw. It's a very heavily seeded draw at this stage. For the clubs that draw the big two, it's like winning the lottery.

The games are over two legs - played on/around 30th November with the returns on/around the 20th December.

One exception. Real Madrid will play the away leg on the 26th October and the home game on the 30th November. That's so they can play in the Club World Cup.

Remember the fun last year when Real Madrid got thrown out of the Copa for fielding Cher a player suspended (for Copa matches) after his loan in the previous season?

Well tonight Eibar nearly did the same but corrected the team sheet after Radio Cope pointed out the problem

Incidentally the player suspended, Galvez, was carrying forward a suspension from 2014 - he's been playing in Germany since then, hence no Copa matches.

Enzo Zidane with his first ever senior shot and scores, not too shabby!

Mariano would be a good loan deal for one of the smaller clubs in La Liga.

Atletico may get eliminated here if they concede 11.

Hercules doing a good impression of themselves atm.
1-0 Rafinha after a confused action.
    Rakitic's penalty. 2-0.
Rafinha 3-0. Great strike. Barca without any problem.
Arda with the 4th. Can see it finishing 6/7-0.
Paco with the 5th. I guess it is his first goal for Barca.
    Hattrick for Turan. 7-0 FT.

    The other results:

    La Coruna-Betis 3-1
    Osasuna-Granada 2-0
    Valencia-Leganes 2-1

Draw for the next round. A couple of crackers in there. The QF will contain a Liga2 club which means one of Alcorcon/Cordoba is going to be very happy and the other one very disappointed after getting this far:

I'll have to watch a half each of Real vs Sevilla and Bilbao vs Barca. On both nights. No way I'll be able to make a decision between them.

First legs will be between the 3rd and 5th, return legs the following week. I'd expect them to schedule them so that the games don't clash.

Why do they have two legs? This from a desperate Bilbao fan?

RM will play Sevilla 3 times over 10 days ;)

Barcelona are notoriously flat coming back from a break so the 4th in Basque country will be a great opportunity for Athletic to dictate the tie before the return leg at Camp Nou on the 11th

Some otherwise intriguing matchups though, best round of 16 in many years IMHO

Real Sociedad and Villareal meet again? They always draw each other in the cup.

I think that there was always 2 legs except a couple of years in the past.
Some people want to change it to play only 1 game. It could be more atractive although in my opinion is an unfair system.
Tebas also said that a final four like in basket could be implemented next year (although la liga doesn't have competence)

I like the fact that 2 teams from Segunda Division will play each other. It means one of them are surely going through.

Real Madrid with no Ramos, Lucas V, Bale or Kovacic. Sevilla won't get any better opportunity than this, to break real's streak. With all due respect to Kovacic and Bale, but it is a bigger relief that 'noventa-y-ramos' is missing a game, as well as Lucas (considering the correlation of the games Lucas has started and Real Madrid's unbeaten record).

Haha thanks! I was very dissappointed on Sevilla and Sampaoli after that game, since we met nothing that resembled the first team of Real Madrid, and I believe it was Modric's first game in the pre-season, similar for Benzema. Yet Sevilla were the side that seemed extremly tired by the end of the 90 minutes, as well as during the extra time. I honestly believe that Sevilla showed too much respect, and our tactics were too naive. Had slow defenders pushing the line almost to the midfield, and N'Zonzi dropping too low. Real Madrid's fast pace players had a party. And Real had ridiculous amount of opportunities in the second half and during extra time. I actually would have seen it as Sevilla getting away with robbery if we would have made it to penalties...

Sampaoli plays a very expensive style, tbh. I understand why you looked so tired. Besides, that sending off just at the start of ET decided the game.
I think i have already told you i was in Seville when the game was played. Watched it a pub. Fantastic experience.

@Santi_Mesut_Alexis_87 That is true, you did:) I had forgot about the sending off ! However, I believe that Sevilla players had more games in their legs, when most of the real madrid players barely had started their pre season campaign, so I assumed that we should have coped better. But naturally, playing with one player less in the extra time changes the energy level and momentum, especially since Ramos killed the spirit the minute before extra time.

Fecking hell, Valencia getting absolutely torn apart at home by Celta Vigo. 0-3 and it's the 19th minute.

That club is going through some horrifically dark days.

Lol they are going to relegate Valencia at this point. Hope they can turn it around like Villareal did, but that one was much more unfortunate due to injuries, Valencia is just a mess in every way.
