For that reason alone I hope they have a mass brawl after the final whistle just like in '84 when Maradona thought he was the karate kid. We can only hope..

They're still playing their football and they've not been overawed in spite of it. Lesser teams have crumbled in front of Barcelona after going 1-0 down so quickly but they regained their composure pretty fast and unlike usual the entire game isn't being played in Barcelona's opponents' half. They can't defend set pieces (how many Spanish sides can?) but they're doing everything else right.

Barca look much better, seems a more natural formation to their movement.

It's amazing how easily Bilbao tore us to pieces over 2 legs but they have looked shot of confidence when they played the Europa final, and now tonight they can't seem to get the ball out their own half.

They've basically had two weeks to rest and prepare and it shows.

That was the best I've seen them play in years though. Whether that's our fault or theirs is the only question for me.

Yep, I haven't seen a team dominate us since Barcelona but each other time i've watched Athletic, they haven't been anywhere near as good.

I take back what I said earlier they clearly have now stopped playing their game and are resorting to long balls. Arguably they are just suffering from having a smaller, less talented and more inexperienced squad than their opponents. The pressing that was so evident against us has vanished in the last 10 minutes much as we faded in Rome and at Wembley last year? This is very different to what we saw earlier in the year. There is a massive gulf between the Bilbao lines they're not operating as a unit. Dunno what's happened to them. Sad that such a promising season is ending like this...

Lovely football. That touch from Iniesta in the centre circle before was delicious.

Messi trying to chip the goalie from about 8 yards out when a sidefoot would have been fine.

Hmm interesting that the commentators are unanimous in thinking that Pique's shirt pull justified a penalty. I remember Ashley Young going down after something similar and he didn't get quite the same level of understanding. Funny how people see things so differently depending on who it is, eh?

Its sad to see Athletic resorting to bully boy tactics. I retain their 2-2 with Barca during the league season was one of the games of the year. This on the other hand...well Barca are more than worth their lead right now.
