True, but even then no-one beats father time. For him to be keeping this up, it must be an obsession that could be borderline a mental illness or perhaps he's just that blessed genetically.

I'm not trying to somehow diminish what Ronaldo does this season (he's still quite clearly one of the world's very best players), but you do know that his main opponent for capocannoniere is 35 years old, right? :)

Quagliarella, with 16 goals, is having one of the best season in his whole career, if he does end up top scorer, all credits to him too.

Zapata, with 15 goals, is 27
Piatek, with 14 goals, is 23

Other players like Milik (12 goals) is 24, Immobile (11 goals) is 28, Icardi (9 goals) is 25, Mandzukic (8 goals) is 32, Dzeko (4 goals) is 32

Higuain, who has just scored 2 goals for Chelsea last match, has 6 goals in Serie A and is 31

Dybala, who is 25 and considered as world class talent, only has 2 goals

And still, an unremarkable player competing to become a top scorer in a top league at 35.

Luca Toni, another, well, average player in an all-time sense, became Serie A top scorer aged 38.

Ronaldo has so many impressive records and achievements, this one is hardly among them.

Yeh I get what you mean, but my point being not many players in mid-30 gets top scorer in top league, which is still the truth. Toni getting top scorer back in 2015 is indeed a remarkable achievement. He only got it twice in his career, although he wasn't considered as one of best player in his time, he is still a WC winner and a European Golden Shoe winner.

Happy birthday to the GOAT !

The greatest footballer to grace the pitch and an honor he came thru Sporting's famed youth academy. I hope to see at least 4 more years of you because football will not be the same when you and your rival retire.

Pff, have you been paying attention to the crap situation where we are? Lets see how he does at Juve before we talk about this. It will be strange for him to come back at that age but who knows? ;)

Ronaldo in full flight is a beautiful thing. Like watching art. We definitely got the best version of him, in an aesthetic sense.

Back in YouTube's early years (2006ish) there was this famous Ronaldo compilation with millions of views if I recall correctly. Fecking 2006. 13 years later the guy is still an elite player. Unreal longevity.

Ronaldo is doing amazing this season especially for his age. Top 5 of all time arguably.

However he is playing in the most dominant Serie A team in the leagues history. They have won 7 titles in a row, which is unprecedented in Serie A history.

Also the league is pretty weak outside of Juve. Serie A is behind the PL, LL and Bundesliga in that regard. What he is doing is no different to what he was doing at Real. Less so infact.

He's playing completely different than he did in Madrid. And Serie A is clearly better than the Bundesliga, the league is the strongest its been since Juve started dominating.

He's been unbelievable tonight. Should have had 3/4 assists, scored, had a goal ruled out for offside and did everything right every time the ball came to him. And Juve aren't Madrid, they don't dominate or score nearly as much. He's scored or assisted 48% of Juve's all goals this season. At 34, in a new league, while changing his role to play further from goal than he has in years.

Really doesn’t matter what he does in serie A, his season will be judged on the CL

He's 34 though. Higuan at 31 seemed done last season as a top level goalscorer for them. I don't think there's any need for arguably in terms of him being at least top 5 all time when you consider his stats, what he's won with club and country and his amazing longevity.

I could be wrong but i think he mixed his celebration with Dybala's style covering the face with the hand. Good gesture, Dybala had some problems there this week.

Absolutely. His legacy has already been cemented, whatever he does from here is simply a bonus.

Maybe a message to Allegri... Dybala has been getting criticism but he's actually been playing very well btw, just changed his role to play deeper behind Ronaldo and Mandzukic this season so he isn't scoring as much.

So do we think the media will be calling him a failure of a transfer if Juve fail to win the Champions League or will they at least give him a couple of goes at it?

Who knows? I wouldn’t put it past his detractors. One thing is for sure though, and that is that you can never «budget» on winning the CL - far too many variables.

He probably wouldn't win another Ballon D'or again if Juve fail to win the CL. But being the team top goalscorer and top assist while winning the league, he wouldn't be considered a failure either.

Yeah, will be hard this season with the injuries and the nightmare draw vs Atletico but who knows.. hopefully things go their way.

That Juve vs Atletico tie will be a bloodbath, both teams playing the rest of their season on it.

    It really isn’t.

Yeah he is doing great I can’t take that away from him. Beast of a player. But Juve would be expected to beat every team week in week out in the league anyway. Ron was bought for the CL and that is where he will be judged with them. They would win the league with or without him anyway.

Not based on this season. He's been integral to them staying unbeaten and won so many points.
