    An embarrassingly bad Argentina

A Nigeria team who’s performances couldn’t match up to their home kit

Iceland, the smallest nation ever to qualify

    An average Denmark side

Russia, The worst ranked side coming into the tournament

England, everybodys favourite team to get excited about but who were ultimately bang average.

France is their first test, so has there ever been an easier path to a final at club or international level?

Not sure, but in terms paths to semis it would have been England for sure. Am I doing this right?

Easiest run in an international tournament since a team faced Hungary, Iceland, Austria, Croatia, Poland and Wales on the road to the final.

Argentina is high up the ranking with GOAT at their disposal.

Nigeria always a tough nut for everyone and have been of the most exciting teams this tournament.

It means nothing that Iceland teams is made up of part-timers they beat England last euros and topped their qualification group, finishing above Croatia.

Denmark is filled with high quality players just look at the likes of Eriksen.

Russia is never an easy opponent just ask Germany.

While, England have been Champions elect.

How’s that an easy run is beyond me.

Is that the best excuse you can find for them beating an embarrassingly bad Argentina only by three goals?

The funniest bit is that a large number of people on here were putting them to finish below Argentina and Nigeria in their group

Germany 2002 is the only easier draw I remember. Us in 2016 was probably just as easy in the Euros though

Hindsight is always 20-20, but Iceland topped Croatia's qualifications group ahead of Ukraine and Turkey. Knocked England out 2 years ago. Argentina was always one of the candidates to win the World Cup (albeit outside chance). Nigeria topped what was considered the group of death in Africa alongside Zambia, Algeria and Cameroon. Croatia won all three matches.

Then, with Denmark they underperformed and just barely got thru.
Russia was no joke (especially after knocking out Spain, and playing at home)
England is overrated, but Croatia put in a great performance, for what was essentially their third consecutive match in extra time. Also worth noting that these have all been comebacks.

As an aside, this team has plenty of pedigree. Modric and Rakitic have 5 CL amongst them, and Mandzukic is also a big game player. He's played in 2 CL finals with Bayern (winning one) and 2 CL finals with Juve, he's not going to get overcome by emotions in a WC final. Perisic can blow hot and cold. The rest of the team is not on par talent-wise but they play with a lot of grit and heart.

    Who cares, it's accurate.

Arrogant Croatia singing about football coming 1,191 miles from home too, and smashing up a poundland after beating the brave England lions. feck them.

Not sure what the format was like but I’m thinking anything where it began with a group stage, and then 4 knockout games

Italy 2006 too. OK they got the home nation Germany in the semi final but look back at that Germany squad and you're thinking 'I don't even remember that guy' about a few of them.

They have had 1 or 2 easier fixtures. They have done well, can’t take anything away from them.

You say this about Croatia.....what about England? England didn’t face any big team asides the group game against Belgium & England lost the game. You can only beat what’s put in front of you.

Croatia deserves to be in the final. Enough of the salty tears.

There is actually some merit in what he says, especially if England are as bad as many suggest. Its certainly a very favourable run. Not as easy as Germany 02 though.

Who gives a shit. If they win the World Cup nobody will care. For a country with a population smaller than London it's a fantastic achievement any way you cut it.
