I came into this thread expecting him to be slated and was quite surprised at the posts. I thought he was pretty poor today.

What the hell are you talking about? His one-two was the only productive thing he did all day.

I hope cleverly is back soon. Fletcher empty shirt again, since his return our free flowing attacking football has stopped.

You are only as strong as your weakest link.

Though Fletch was one of our top three performers today...got through a lot of work...passing 26/26 in first half...running off the ball superb...

But we all see what we want to see...

I'm not particularly a Fletcher fan, but he was more effective than most today. Not sure why Fletcher deserves stick for his effort, it was a tough day all round for everyone and nobody exactly had their best game.

There are 2 halves in a game of football mate. Fletcher looked tired near the end imo, but we don't have alot of options at the moment with our injuries.

He wasn't great, but his job has always been more defensive.

We needed Young and one of the forwards to contribute more, Nani and Anderson didn't get a lot of help.

And he was one of our worst in the second half. He kept playing the long ball for no reason. Just kept giving the ball away as a result.

His forward passing in the second half was woeful, and he looked very slack and tired on the ball which slowed our play down. Thought he should have went off instead of Young.

Was decent today but he really tries too many Hollywood balls.

With Cleverley you don't get that.

Thought he did well today but his passing accuracy leaves a lot to be desired.

How about you look at the time of the comment dipshit before you go jumping down people's throats? In the first half his passing was good and he did contribute in getting the ball wide and keeping us going.

Also, maybe you should look at the comments in the thread with respect to the player that they are actually about instead of holding him to whatever ridiculous standard you seem to measuring his first half performance against.

Give it a rest mate, yes we get it! You don't like Fletcher! If you think him being on the pitch today stopped our free flowing football, then you clearly know nothing about football.

It was a poor team performance and we were probably lucky to get a point, so don't try to pin it all on Fletcher. With the problems we have got in defence, this game was always going to be tough.

Good point today from a poor performance, we should be happy enough with that the way it went imo.

No worse than a 6/10 performance, "empty shirt" comments are absurd.

He was pretty average, so was Anderson. I was hoping Giggs was coming on for one of them, we needed something different in the middle. Oh well.

He wasn't great today to be fair and i'm still waiting to see the real Fletch, the one of 2 seasons ago who was always in the thick of things. Today he simply wasn't from both a postional sense and a tempo sense, he lacked the quality we've seen from him 2 seasons ago. lets hope this is just an issue of fitness as it has continued for longer than even I expected. Lets hope at some time this season we see the real fletch.

I tell you what when I see a team selection and get the general pattern of play wrong come back to me.

Fletcher's knock for nani's goal was good but we were involved in a big hustle and bustle game and fletcher was no where near the action, which is supposed to be his game.

If it's just a case of needing games, why was he not involved against Leeds? It's nothing to do with fitness, he is shit.

Those who don't like Fletch will find fault...

For those who do...they looks at other things...

He was fine today in overall team terms....his positional play was very good if you actually watched what he was trying to do...he only played two long balls that went astray so hardly 'all the time' and these were both in last ten minutes when we were trying to press...

His passing was 26/26 in first half so not sure what else you would expect in terms of results?

His running off the ball and towards others with the ball making himself available was very effective while his tracking back, particularly noticeable on Pennant (where was Evra) helped the defence out.

Easy to make scapegoats of one player when there are ten others on the pitch too.

We tried to beat Stoke at their own game today, and Fletch has to take some of the blame for that.

Even at his best he's not great on the ball, so when he's not playing all that well it accentuates that and it can make it hard for his partner (no matter who it is) to take control of the midfield. Throw in Ando having an off-night and Rooney not being there, and it resulted in us not having any quality possession or interplay (Nani excluded).

I thought he was fine today. Quiet in the 1st half, but became more influential as the game wore on.

Whoever said he's shit is a fecking mongoloid.

I know he was energetic and tried to offer an option, but overall I thought he was average. He and Ando are a horrible partnership.

Agree, him and Ando just don't seem to play well together.. and also I don't think he's hit gear yet. And another thing, he still isn't back to the Fletch of old who was crunch tackling anything that moved a couple of years ago. Seems to be a bit ginger with his tackling still.

Ando and Clev seem to work well because Clev seems to make himself available for a return from Ando, always.

It's not that you got the general pattern of play wrong, your analysis is wrong because it is so affected by your dislike for Fletcher.

The fact is they all played poorly today, defence, midfield and the strikers. Only Nani and De Gea can walk off that field thinking they did ok.

But to single out Fletcher for exclusive blame for that result, simply proves not only do you have an agenda against him, but your opinions on matches are biased, unobjective and tarnished as a result of it.

I am not his biggest fan either, nor Carrick's for that matter, but i don't take every opportunity to try and blame every poor performance on them alone.

Pity his passing wasn't a bit more 'ginger'!

The passing was far from 'ginger', too many wasted long balls :( But Anderson was guilty of them too..

Too many wasted long balls....you mean the two of the them?

His passing success rate was 89%...all his lost balls were in attacking half...hardly poor by any standards.

People see what they want to see.

    what was that?

I thought he had a very good game. Got through a colossal amount of work in holding them back. He'll be back to his best at this rate. Agonized between him and Jones for 3rd MOM.

I think the way we were supporting each other isn't there at the minute. Early season we were interchanging through the middle in tighter spaces and we looked good at it - as well as the threat from outwide, but now we've gone backwards because there's a distance again and we only really look threatening from outwide.
