Did you visit the Villa forums. Maybe they might be saying that
Henry has all his badges and is on the coaching staff of one of the best national sides in the world.
More than qualified enough for 2nd tier side to give him a job.
Thierry’s gonna smash it, delighted for him.
The point of my tongue in cheek comment was to trash the notion that a necessary qualification to manage the first team of a football club, is that you go down into the lower clubs and work your way up against insurmountable odds.
What about the rest of the world? I'll stop being a WUM now
I know, I was just being sarcastic.
Is this a joke? April fools come early/late?
What next: Lionel Messi and Christiano Ronaldo decide to quit playing and manage Villarreal?
Dean Smith with JT as ASS(t)
It's very strange seeing all these players I grew up watching stepping out into management. It'll be interesting to see how Henry does when things aren't going so well, he strikes me as one of those who won't take kindly to Championship players being unable to match his own skill and focus on the pitch. Then again he might be great, good luck to him.
Henry isn't the manager mate.
Seems likely going to Monaco. Wherever, not Villa.
This is extremely bizarre.
Terry has been a captain and in a leadership role since he was a youngster. I cannot imagine him being assistant to Henry? I mean yes Henry was the superior player but just doesn't add up.
Oh shit, I've been playing werewolf for too long. Is Moyes still our manager?
Dean Smith is highly regarded by Brentford fans, who reckoned it was only a matter of time till he was snapped up by a bigger club. Villa doesn’t seem a wise move: big expectations not matched by the current infrastructure, which has only been familiar with decline.
I hope he does well, in spite of John Terry. Would be great to see them back in the top flight.
He's not. Dean Smith will be their manager. Henry will take on Monaco job most probably.
Probably turn out to be a better appointment than Henry.
Im so confused with the headline then
Weird how they persisted with JT as Assistant...that just reeks of trouble, he doesn't come across as somebody willing to play second fiddle at all.
Did David O’Donnel report Henry as manager?
The thread title needs editing yeah.
Villa fan growing up, his Dad was a steward at Villa Park - hard to turn down in that respect. Then add in the £££ factor, you need to remember he didn't have a top flight footballing career and the money on offer from Villa probably means he is more or less set for life. He will also back himself to be able to do the job obviously. As you say though is it a wise move - will they put up with the runs of poor form that have been present in each of his seasons at Brentford and also at Walsall I believe.
He was in many ways the perfect head coach for Brentford, whether or not that translates into the perfect manager for Villa is the big unknown.
Henry to Terry: "John, get me a cappuccino, one sugar".
Terry to Henry. "Why are you in Birmingham when you should be in Monaco?"
Terry to Henry Hoover: "Talk about caretaker manager right?"
Henry Hoover to Terry: "Feck off and kill yourself"
The best forward and one of the best defenders in the Premier League. Clash of styles? Or heads?
Thon and Jierry?
So, is Henry going to Aston Villa or to Monaco?
He’s not going to Villa. Monaco is heavily rumoured but not official yet.
My head has almost fallen clean off reading this
I wonder how a man that organised a guard of honour for himself would fare as an assistant.
Fantastic appointment by the new owners. The new structure at the club looks promising going forward.
I feel that failing to gain promotion this season will hit them extremely hard like it has done the other big clubs that have failed to make it up.
It’s going to take one hell of an effort to get them up, but I’m far more optimistic with Bruce gone.
Damn this thread is confusing. Time for a title change?
Yeah, I think it’s a great appointment, along with the new Director of Football.
The Henry-Terry dream team sounds exciting, but it’s a huge risk. Dean Smith as the main man is a much more sensible decision.
If Aston Villa get promoted to the PL, will Terry not have to be assistant manager when they play Chelsea

Can't believe he turned down Villa for this.

I always liked him but also knew he was a cagey fecker. Which he is of course. Never trust a guy that smiles all the time.
