Not really. We have history, they have the better team and more money. I doubt he cares about history, he can make one at City in the next few years.

Did anyone actually hear him say he will play in blue. Sounds a strange thing to say.

He'll play every week with us. At City they have Silva, Nasri etc.

And we're not bloody Liverpool here. It's not like we're going to slip down the table and fall out of the CL completely. We will still compete every season for the league and play in the CL.

City may win the league this season, but next season we'll be back. Plus we have the best manager.

My initial thought when reading it was it means City and Chelsea are both interested. Certainly both of them can afford to pay him more than we can.

Good players are just as likely to get success at United as they are at City, and we're not taking each clubs prestige and historical standing into account in this context. Hence, money is the deciding factor.

Well it says he was talking to Canal+ so if true you'd think it would be on their website somewhere. Originally the quote was on twitter without the last bit added about him playing in blue and as good as ESPN is, remember they were one of the sites involved in putting the fake Kagawa quote in one of their articles.

And that Tom Williams person has said that that bit about him playing in blue is rubbish:

Tom Williams is part of the French Press Association and specialises in French football. Hazard saying he likes both colours is true but him saying that he is definitely playing in blue is bollocks.

Well thats good news Damien. I wouldn't have thought he would be so direct with his "hints" about his future. Even though I know we probably don't stand much of a chance getting him because we can't match certain team's salary packages, its still nice to have a little hope on the outside chance we sign a great talent like Hazard. Oh dear, Its getting to that time of the year again that when you read a piece of news about a players favorite color and your heart either drops or pumps with excitment.

Let's face it...we're not going to get a player that city wants. We have to go for more realistic players. Forget hazard now it's not going to happen...unless we're bought by a money bags sheik with more money than sense.

Unfortunately we're not in a position where we can even believe "quotes" anymore with the amount of bullshit that's invented on Twitter only to be regurgitated by lazy journalists.

However, you lot really shouldn't get your hopes up re Hazard. If City are interested he'll go to them.

There was an alleged quote on twitter from Kagawa this weekend, where he said that he was joining us, the CAF dubunked that quote within an hour. The quote was then picked up and used in stories in several major UK newspapers!

    Shocking really.

Mate Ive got to pull you up on this (and others that keep writing about how City are better) Manchester City do not have a better team. We are level on points FFS. We have been blighted my injuries all season, much more so than any other team in the Prem, yet we are still joint top.

We haven't been complacent or bottled it or not spent enough. We had a man sent off against City, we played for a draw last time out which nearly paid off given the scoreline. We have been without our preferred back line all season. We lost our CM and had to bring back Scholes. To put it bluntly we have not had our starting 11 for the majority of the season, and yet...........

We have accumulated more points than most of the winners in the Prems history already and yet its going down to the last game of the season against a team that have spent an unprecedented amount of money on the worlds best players.

So when it comes down to a player that is not already a superstar (with all their commercial rights and endorsements already in the bag) then it makes perfect sense to look at Manchester United to build their career, rather than be a possible bench warmer at City.

If Manchester City win the Prem this year, so what, it will be a very long time before they can come close to matching us in every department, whether it be records, cups, development or financial clout. Yes financial clout. There I said it. Every year the debt comes down, how long before there is no debt, do you think Manchester City will be able to build a global brand like ours in that time, if ever?

You can pump a huge amount of money into a club but at the end of the day it is finite. Chelsea will never be a powerhouse in the Premiership on terms with Manchester United in my lifetime or my childrens because they do not have the history that has created lifelong fans across the globe and a stadium that balances the books. Manchester City can win the league this year and good luck to them but make no mistake they are light years away from being the powerhouse that is Manchester United.

Apologies if you think this rant is against you, its not, sometimes it needs to be pointed out that it is not the club that is complacent, its us.

tell that to every player that has signed for ciddy - tell fergie, who has just admitted they have our targets marked.

When/If the debt is paid off, the Glazers aren't going to gift us Messi or the current flavour of the month - they'll be using the profit from United to expand or prop up their empire elsewhere - they are not United fans and don't give a feck what we win or don't win. We are a means to generate more wealth for them and them only.

How do you know this, have we not spent millions in the transfer market buying young players with potential? The Kagawa thread has forumites arguing whether United should spend 7 mill on him, yet we spent 17 million on Jones. Using your argument then the Glazers (who don't give a feck about United) would be so inept as to underfund their investment so they lose money. Get a grip son, there empire as you call it, is Manchester United.

unless you can remember the glorious Maurice Setters or Alec Dawson, you look a bit silly calling me son.

The Glazers are far from inept, but innocents such as you really need to understand they didn't choose Jones and it really has little relevance to their investment. The Kagawa thread is for people who believe in journalists and even if he comes, a squabble in the muppet's thread has little to do with reality eirther. Do try harder.

Yes they did choose Jones and the rest. Our season is not defined by City being better, our season is defined by how good we are to be able to compete when we are relying on our squad. To take City to the wire without our first 11 is an achievement in itself and shows how strong we are as a team. I don't buy into you saying they are a better team and if that makes me an innocent then I'd rather be that than someone who rights us off as you do.

Well said but would a 21 year old belgian think so in-depth? I doubt it, he'll most likely have made his opinion on which team is better based on watching the derby live at Eithad, which will only be enforced if they win the league. This and the financial gains can easily make him think City are the better option.

Again it's pointless to understand the reason why x or y player will choose other clubs than us and then insult the player, it's really childish. If he signs then best of luck to him and if he doesn't, c'est la vie.
If Hazard's decision is purely based on money and nothing else, surely he could fetch more by playing in the Arabic gulf or for a russian club.
There is just not one single reason that'll make him possibly go to City

I'm sorry mate, as optimistic as you are you have to concede that, this season, Manchester City have been better than us. They have beaten us easily twice in the league (putting 6 past us at OT and not a shot on target at the Etihad is easily in my book) and when we did beat them, they gave us a very good game with only 10 men.
I've accepted that we have been second best to them this season and we just need to get on with it.
All lot of the other stuff you have put I would agree with, but let's not kid ourselves about been level on points is as good as. Head to head they have been a lot better.

As with all lengthy debates on here the truth is in the middle. It's possible Hazard will see City as a club that's on the up and able to offer him money AND trophies he might not get anywhere else. It's also possible he might find an offer to join a club as prestigious and succesful as Manchester United impossible to turn down. In fact, there's every chance he's as indecisive as everyone on here about which is the best option.

Whatever, anyone who states with absolute certainty that one scenario or other is the definitive reality hasn't thought it through properly IMO.

We're at the stage where journalists will go with a Twitter 'story' even though they know it's incorrect or plain made-up, just to have some content. Obviously the hacking scandal hasn't caused these people to reflect on their professionalism or ethics at all.

How can another team be a lot better when we are on the same points?

You highlight the quote where I state that we have been blighted by injuries yet ignore it completely.

The games against City where thus..

Played with 10 men but didnt try to stop the rot. Tactical error. Hammered.

Played for a draw and left out our best winger. Tactical error. Narrow loss.

This has absolutely nothing to do with how good city are and I will defend my statement to the full that we have been unlucky this season not to have walked the title due to injuries. FFS we lost on a set piece at the Etihad without our best defense, If we had stayed 0-0 we would all be creaming ourselves at how incredible United are against the financial muscle of the Sheike.

It's not just about money. It's about money and trophies of significance. He will only get the money part in any arab deal. Most of these young foreign players are bandwagon jumpers imo. Given the choice between a team who look like they are about to start a period of dominance due to financial superiority, compared to one whose period of dominace is under threat from that same financial muscle. Then the choice is likely to be where the money is im afraid.

We saw exactly the same at Chelsea. They had no history, no previous for being winning titles, yet what they did have was plenty of money and the potential to buy the best players about. That was enough to convince the likes of Essien, Robben, Cech, Mikel etc to choose Chelsea ahead of us. It has since enabled them to attract other big stars such as Torres and Mata, despite a fairly barren period.

Success may not be guaranteed at Chelsea, City or Utd, but huge wages are guaranteed more at their clubs than at ours.

I think almost any footballer would go to City if they come in and say "whatever United is offering we'll increase that by 50%/100%."

Unfortunately for us they have the financial power to do exactly that.

Not sure you ever saw him play

Hazard is the type of game-changer groomed in French Ligue 1 to bless the PL with their talent. He's a notch above the Drogba who moved to Chelsea. He's in the Cantona / Henry kind of bracket
