Anderson didn't look anything like a central midfielder too, but we've obviously decided if we play him there long enough he might just become one. Going great so far.

I bet SAF wouldn't give into his guaranteed time on the pitch demands and I expect Chelsea offered better £'s per week, despite all offers being acceptable.

I don't think we need to read anything more into it than that.

As SAF has often said, no player is bigger than the club. Players get injured, tired, emotional (Tevez, Balotelli ) and one player is simply not worth breaking your own rules for.

For me, Modric is a far better option, tried and tested in the EPL, he is more the type of player we need and he is not a media whore.

I am happy City didn't get him.

    Value in the market.

Seriously speaking though. I'm not gonna hate on Hazard. It was clear as day that his agent was trying to get City, Chelsea or United to outbid one another on the financial package. City and ourselves held our ground Chelsea choose to splash the cash. Good luck to them. Hazard's a very good player and could be a great player but £6m in agents' fees? I suppose if money is no object...one thing is for sure I should've become a top class football agent. That game is recession proof!

Aye. I gave up on him yonks ago. His best attribute is his strength... Which seems odd for a new Ronaldinho from...where? Sao Paulo? Yep...odd.

Hazard on £100,000 5 year deal according to the Guardian. Not sure what we offered, but I guess it was less in total value and / or length

I like Anderson. Not as a footballer particularly, but I like him.

Why is everyone so sure that Chelsea got him simply because they outbid us? I genuinely believe that he saw the three clubs as fairly equal in terms of the money on offer and the chances to win trophies. That being the case, Chelsea were probably his best destination in terms of playing time. City are absolutely stacked with amazing attackers, and we're not exactly short in that position, either. It's Chelsea who have the gap there that he'd be looking to fill, and I suspect they played on that. Also, with the rebuilding job they'll be doing this summer, Roman might well have played the "we'll build the whole team around you" card, which is something that neither ourselves or City could do.

Wtf?!?! Has anyone any idea of how much money that is?! Go to www.thesalarycalculator.co.uk and see how many million pounds per year you have to be paid to get £100,000 per week after tax.

Nah, they do all sorts of funny tax business with image rights and stuff. Top players aren't on PAYE.

Top band is 50% I think but Chelsea will have all sorts of tax avoidance schemes going on. I would guess at 150k a week.

Money played a part, but please don't use it as an excuse for him picking Chelsea over us.

We won diddly-squat, they're European Champions and won the FA Cup.

Doesn't he have a young family too? London seems a much nicer city to raise his kids.

Can we change the thread to Eden Hazard Signs for the 6th Best Team in England? It would make us all feel better, I think.

You've not lived there, have you? London may offer more for the young single man, but can't see any advantages for the family...

It could be seen as that, considering he's joining a team with no manager. But Hazard has no affiliation to Manchester United.

One positive. It's encouraging to see that players are at least starting to turn down City due to fears over playing time.

Also that FFP is biting them somewhat that they wouldn't reportedly go over a certain wage. Unfortunately Chelsea's income is much greater than City, so they can still push the boat out.

Short sighted as in basing his decision on the winning of 2 cup competitions.

In addition, it's been widely reported that Chelsea were offering approximately double what City and ourselves were offering.
