I realise this is a fairly silly exercise but thought it might be a bit of fun and positivity for the future after England's elimination tonight. Many players in our 2018 squad should be better in 2022 (arguably 14 out of 23 of them). This WC experience should do them wonders. However, we also have won international trophies at many age ranges recently and I'd expect many of these starlets to eventually take over. The battle for places could be enormous over the next 4 years and I expect the most churn between WC squads in many, many years. So, for the benefit of bumping in 4 years and having a laugh at how inevitably far off we are, let's predict the 2022 England squad and head coach (should we qualify!). Head coach - Eddie Howe (I think Southgate will get poached by a big Premier League side in a year or two) Goalkeepers - Jordan Pickford, Angus Gunn, Ellery Balcombe Defenders - Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dujon Sterling, Jake Vokins, Jay Dasilva, Harry Maguire, John Stones, Eric Dier, Trevor Chalobah Midfielders - Phil Foden, Ryan Sessegnon, Jadon Sancho, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Dele Alli, Mason Mount, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Angel Gomes, Lewis Cook Attackers - Marcus Rashford, Harry Kane, Mason Greenwood Crazy predictions from me, I expect. Let's see who gets the most right in 4 years time.
