8M not enough for Andy Johnson? Are they fecking joking? He is a decent enough player, but if Ruud is worth 10M with 2 years on his contract.....fecking ridiculous. No wonder Fergie is looking abroad.

Their marketing value is also normally higher. "Johnson" will sell more jerseys than "Obbokadobbaaa""

    Sad, but true.

He earns you more penalties than any other English strikers. For that, he's easily worth 10mil. 8mil's a bargain.

Although i might agree that you can pay a premium for English/British players, your logic in regard to Ruud is, with all due respect to you, well it don't stand up IMO.

    Look at the two examples.....

Andy Johnson # Mid 20s if that, highest goalscorer [English] in the top flight the season before last. And a Chairman at his club who doesn't like to be taken for a ride by established Premiership types, with a far too high opinion of themselves, so willll squeeze every last copper out of them, and then only if he has no other choice than to sell the player.

Ruud # Heading towards the wrong side of 30 and fast, breakdown in relations with the Manager and the club looking to get rid, and wages of £3.5-4 million a year.

It's not as insane as it first appears with all that considered.

And it isn't just English or British players, but the domestic market in general.

It is a fair point. However for more or less the same price you can choose:

    a) One of the best natural goal scorers in the league who would have probably come top if he had not been dropped for last quarter of the season. One of the highest scorers ever in the Champions league. A great marketing potential.
    b) A slap headed diving twat who has only ever proved himself at Palace.

Proving yourself at Palace is a bloody hard job. They were doing shite in the league, yet Johnson was scoring loads of goals. You have a retarded view of him.
