The ref can be convinced of something and be wrong.
Atkinson: "Linesman was it over!?"
Linesman: "Didn't see it, too many bodies."
Atkinson: "It looked over."
Linesman: "You got to give it then."
Atkinson: "Beepidy beep."
I've heard these ridiculous arguments before and they make me want to start smacking people
I can't believe we're still having the "picture at an angle with skewed perspective looks like it's over the line" discussion. Did some of you actually go to school?
A referee doesn't have to be 100% sure to give a decision. Otherwise they'd spend the whole game not blowing the whistle execpt for throw ins and goal kicks etc.
I'd say they'd use a more of a "balance of probabilities" type test like in a civil court.
