God I miss this man.
not much of a reaction from the team mates??
If that happened now, everyone in this forum would be calling our team softies for not backing a team mate
I miss him too. Has he given any interviews recently?
Did the guy get a red card for that?
I know he went off, but not sure if it was a sub or what?
The man's presence is so powerful. There'll never be another Fergie.
I remember that game, Cole scored a hattrick.
This is beautiful, brings a tear to my eye.
Boswell was a dirty cnut
He was absolutely right too, it was a fecking disgrace. Trying to injure an opponent, no attempt to win the ball and not trying to prevent an attack, while he is 0-3 down at home with minutes left on the clock.
I know most have heard this story already but just in case somebody hasn't. Steve Bruce talking about a fight after a European night in Turkey;
I had heard it but you don't need any excuse to post such gems. Warmed my heart that trip down memory lane
Yeah - heard about that episode. But still gives me goose bumps. Thanks for sharing. What a leader we had. Miss him still but he earned his time in the sun.
This game was in 1993, Fergie had been there nearly 8 years, bit of an odd thing to say.
Remember that game well. Disgusting from Bosvelt. Coward.
Sandor Puhl was the referee, one of the best at the time, who didn't send Bosvelt off. They didn't let him referee another match in Europe that season after that. I don't even know if he had much of a career after that.
What a guy. Full on Deirdre specs too. I find it weird seeing him now, almost like he was a blurry myth. Strange to think he was basically an old bloke there too, but there was so much more to come. Unbelievably driven.
Legendary scenes from Ferguson - I actually remember watching that as a kid
That was a young side. If that was 2 years late or even 3 years prior there would have been hell on.
Imagine if Ince, Keane, Hughes, Cantona and Bruce were on the pitch?
That was a shocking tackle, I'm pretty sure Fergie said that was the only time he ever said something to an opposing player in that situation. It was well warranted in that case.
Fecking hell, was probably too young to remember that but that's an absolute shocker! He 100% meant that, went to break his leg the nasty bastard.
Can't believe Pally and the others didn't go running after him, and the ref didn't even send him off what an absolute joke.
Was Irwin badly injured after that? looks like an ACL breaker that.
Didnt that guy join City afterwards?
Brillaint. I almost shed a tear watching this.
I love him. Greatest manager of all time.
@1:43 - Some say this was the birth of the Phil Nev stepover.
Struggling a wee bit to understand what the other manager is saying but can understand Sir Alex no problem. I'm Glaswegian and live 10 minutes away from Govan after all
For anyone who is struggling to understand whats being said here is a translation...
SAF: "F**king disgrace!"
Feyenoord Manager Is saying something about another three fouls im guessing Utd had committed
SAF: "Doesn't mean to say that its f**cking right!"
Feyenoord Manager: "Beckham over here, Beckham over there!" ( talking about the fouls I'm guessing )
SAF: "F**king Diddy." (A diddy is another way of calling someone a tit around here)
We Glaswegians love to swear.
Love that one.
Kevin Keegan signed him for City 5 years later
As soon as I saw the thread title I knew it must have been the Paul Bosvelt challenge on Irwin. If I remember correctly, it was very similar to Keane’s assault on Haaland.
It looks like Butt is giving their manager a thousand yard stare...
I miss him. Beautiful man. Will never be another.
If I remember didnt Henning Berg get a elbow in the jaw as well? I remember they we went 3-0 up and they thought "feck these cnuts."
What confuses me is Kiddo's trying to write the sub and number out for the board to go up and the referee is telling him to sit down.
"I'm doing the fecking thing, man!"
I honestly can't think of a sporting figure I love more.
Keane wasn't playing.
Watched that game in a mate's house. He wasn't there so I waited for him. His gf sat there emotionless, as I whooped & cheered through the game.
Don't remember the tackle though. Irwin was a great player.
Textbook use of the English (Scottish) language. Then the stare afterwards. That would give me nightmares.
Yes, that was his punishment.
surprised Fergie didn't put someone on to kill the whole of their side!
