Well that's one way for us to play the big dogs.

The problem is it's either taken seriously, which would make it good but the players will be knackered, or it's not taken seriously and it's pointless and just a money spinner.

"had combined revenues of more than $4 billion in 2017, and they command a massive global fan base" , it must be awkward for Manchester City being there then...

    Divide and conquer indeed.

FIFA edging closer to realising their masterplan (the formation of The League of Extraordinary Football Clubs). Liverpool are not invited to this party.

This is FIFA’s way of getting their cut of the preseason money spinners clubs do now in Asia and USA.

Unless you qualify by winning your domestic league no team should accept; and even if they do no one will take these trophy’s seriously.

Absolute tosh. if this was legit then city would certainly not in there. They can't even fill their stadium let alone command a global fecking fan base :houllier:

Ridiculous idea. Hope it never happens, and if it does, that it fails miserably.

Any trophy that deems City and PSG biggest clubs in the world just because they've been bought out as playthings, can keep them. I'd rather Liverpool players didn't kill themselves in meaningless tournaments like these. We have enough squad issues thanks.

Not a surprise that United, Bayern, Real and Barcelona are the forefront of any greed. It's also hilarious to see that City have turned exactly like us after years of churning out bollocks like the only real club of Manchester and so on.

Infantino is ruining the sport with all his stupid ideas - this, 48 team World Cup, VAR, the proposed sin bins.

Yeah. If it’s about financially big clubs then it makes sense. They should do the equivalent of the champions league for this new competition for the top clubs that Break FFP the most.

I think it would be a good pre-season friendlies alternative as there is as much chance of players getting injured in those games too. It would add completion and fitness rather than spanking cannon fodder.

All I want is what basketball in the US do once a year. A world class 11v11. How great would it be if we get to see Ronaldo and Messi in the same team. Alas it's a fantasy that will probably happen in 5 more years when the 2 best players this decade are gone and it'll be a huge waste and an incredible missed opportunity for the world to see.

Man City, a club that cannot sell out any home game yet have a club valuation just below Barcelona. Go figure.

When it was first reported a few weeks ago the articles were saying that FIFA wanted to hold it every 4 years so presumably a summer tournament?

Not sure why people are so against this if it would be held only every four years. I’d love a bigger and more prestigious official club world cup, and holding it only every four years would probably increase its prestige.

We better tell them to feck off.

What would even be a point of having a club world cup every 4 years. Putting even more strain on the players is ridiculousy stupid. The next few years just seem like a scheduling nightmare anyway, with that daft winter world cup on the way.

I think United, Barca, Juve, Madrid, Bayern don't want City and PSG in this. Chelsea or Arsenal, Milan, Dortmund, Atletico Madrid, Lyon all should be joined in this but not City and PSG.

I don't like them, but Liverpool is bigger than PSG and City combined, by quite a margin. So is Arsenal. Bigger than Bayern and Juventus as well. Both of them. In terms of fanbase. Arguably prestige as well in Liverpool's case.

    Why Chelsea & not City/PSG?

Neither Liverpool or Arsenal is bigger than Bayern.

Much bigger. German teams are nothing outside the continent. Even Bayern. You can like a German team, you can't love it.

Chelsea is relevant, they're more like Spurs before Roman bought Chelsea. City and PSG are just owned by the oil states giving them greater financial power, Chelsea's revenue is more legit than City and PSG's fake sponsorship deals.

Would happily drop out of the League Cup for this (in theory). If it took off, the best players would only want to play at those clubs.

Exactly this. Anything that cements a pre-determined group of clubs into a high revenue tournament is complete bullshit.

Infantino not only looks like Ernst Stavro Blofeld but he also appears to be acting like him in his quest for FIFA world supremacy
