I wanna see the guy that puts Lovren & Lukaku in their team over the alternatives.

& surely Buffon is just a bit of a complimentary nod moreso than anything else?

Giroud is better if we had to use a target man - target men are generally a rubbish way of playing football anyway. Kane is the only stand out target man in football and he doesn't even play like one.

The guy is now rambling about target men trying to change the subject. You’re derailing the thread.

Why is Hazard listed as a midfielder here?

he plays in a 433 and mostly as part of the 3 in front for club and country. I don't see why Hazard will be a midfielder and Mane, Neymar Salah Dybala are listed differently

Matic is deserved, he's right up there in his position, a top 5 CDM in the world. Yerri Mina and Arturo Vidal are the 2 big surprises for me. Mina is self explanatory and Vidal from what I've heard has declined quite a bit and apparently missed like nearly half of last season.

Honestly I would have had maybe Vertonghen and Fernandinho in the team instead of Mina and Vidal.

Is there anyone who was robbed of a nomination? (ie: definitely deserved be nominated but didn't get nominated)

Well it is at least understandable considering he was part of a team that got to the UCL final and a Croatia side which made the world cup final.

Benzema, Mane, Lukaku and Mandzukic ahead of Aguero and Firminio... case to be made for Lukaku after his WC and a pretty good season but the other 3 are a joke.
Lovren... both Liverpool centre backs in there, zero from the 3 teams who conceded less goals in the same league as them last season (though VvD is there on merit imho)

4 United players, 3 City players, 3 Liverpool and 3 Spurs...
It's like last seasons Premier League never happened...

Seems like 90% of the reasoning for inclusion was the world cup.

I agree with Firmino or Aguero being in there ahead of Mane. I think Benzema has it locked down cos of winning the UCL though and Mandzukic for the world cup + a pretty good season with Juve. I actually think Fernandinho is the city player most deserving to be here who missed out.

Yup I think domestic leagues were probably the last consideration after WC and CL (though again Aguero was probably Argentina's only semi-competent performer after Messi at the WC), despite being dropped. Benzema scored was it 5 league goals last season... you shouldn't get a pass for that because of trophies imho.

How the feck did Matic get in there!!

    mine

    DDG

    Walker
    Ramos
    Varane
    Marcelo

    KDB
    Modric
    Pogba

    Mbappe
    Ronaldo
    Salah

Mbappe & Pogba's World Cup performances played a big part. Varane gets in regardless.

I can't think of many better right backs last season.

What my world XI would be:

    ------------De Gea

    Carvajal Varane Godin Marcelo

    -------------Kante
    ---De Bruyne-----Modric

    -------------Messi
    Salah-------------------Ronaldo

    NOTES:

    -Messi as a false 9.
-No team would ever beat that team haha (based off of last season).
-Can anyone really argue with any of the selections in this team I picked?

Isnt he off to Bayern soon? Really wish we would get him, surely a no brainer with Valencia there.
