Wow, that's terrible. Is there any indication of what happened?

I shall forever remember him as a very good FM signing.

Jesus that's a huge shock. He's played for Italy a few times hasn't he? Also been linked to premier league clubs.

R.I.P. I assume all Seria A will be cancelled today?

Fiorentina were playing in Udine today so seems like he's died at the team hotel. What a horrific morning that is for the team and room mate if they share rooms in Italy.

I can't imagine that. Being away with 20+ of your colleagues, waking up in the morning and being told your captain just randomly passed away in the night. It defies all belief.

    my word, RIP.

What could possibly happen to a perfectly fit man to cause him to die in his sleep at 31?

thoughts go out to his family.

Likely to be some sort of underlying heart condition. Sadly been too many of those cases over the past few years - Dani Jarque comes to mind in similar circumstances.

    Terrible news. RIP.

I think it freaks us all out to know that an athlete, whom we assume is in peak physical condition, can just die like that in his sleep.

Things like this really do put into perspective how fragile life is.

And they will have to travel back to Florence in the coach without him. Tragic stuff made even worse by the circumstances.

What David Moyes previously said about Davide Astori
    Good insight, this:

    Tancredi Palmeri‏Verified account @tancredipalmeri

4 years ago I spotted Moyes in the stands for Cagliari-Juventus, he came to scout Davide Astori. On night I met him on flight to Milan, so I asked: "Did you see? So are you going to Manchester United?" He replied: "Eh let's wait, you can never know in life" ... This is so unfair

What did Moyes say? Think he met Astori on the flight not Moyes.

That is what I thought. Just ignore the M.E.N. it still makes it sad.
