Didn't fancy anything tonight so managed to keep it in my pants (my wallet that is). Tomorrow is slightly more tempting with the two Spanish sides at home against weaker European opposition, could be worth a double. Athletic are free scoring and Loko have a poor away record. Valencia proved that they are light years ahead of Stoke last week and with Stoke having to abandon their natural game and chase a goal I can see them getting done on the break. Utd without Rooney and in the comfort zone worries me a little so at the odds quoted I'll be staying clear.

    Valencia/Athletic double is 11/10

Not sure about tomorrow yet, I always seem to get burned on the Euro League.

Don't like betting on United either, only the odd bet on Rooney to score 2/3 when he is in good form and some miscellanous stuff occasionally. Can't find anything worth it tomorrow in the United game, already made a fair deal on the first tie, no need to toy around with lady luck too much.

Valencia to win, possibly even by two. Also fancy Twente to win by 2. Steaua are against high scoring Twente (58 goals in 21 league games). Last time they didn't score at home was in 2009 against Fenerbahce, since then they have scored in 12 European home games and in 8 of them at least 2. Steaua will need to attack and that'll leave plenty of room for Twente to attack.

Fancy Atl Madrid at home but it's somewhat hard to predict since they have Barcelona at the weekend and got a 3-1, but on the other hand Lazio are in a pretty dire situation where the manager apparently quit this weekend but the board wouldn't accept it till after this game. Lastly Bilbao at home is pretty decent as well despite short odds, they are in form and beat Malaga 3-0 at home this weekend despite resting some of their star players from what I gather.

Going to wait till I hear the starting teams from the 19:00 games before I put in any bets.

Another cert is Schalke, I'll eat my hat if they fail to win.

Decided to go for a coupon with the early games, Valencia, Twente and Bilbao all to win by 2 or more.

The game I was most nervous about was the Stoke, but they lined up with only 4 substitutes and without several of their key players so I'd say Valencia are strong favorites. Twente and Bilbao both lined up very strongly as well.

Might do one when the lineups for the late games are announced, grab United to win (staying clear of handicap here), Atl Madrid (depending on how they line up, I fear they may line up without some of their key players and rest them for Barcelona at the weekend since they've got a 3-1 in the bag). Schalke looks good but I've no idea how they've been playing recently so need to look that up before even making any conclusions.

    :)

What a cracking club Athletic are, their fans were absolutely terrific the whole game and Bielsa had them very well drilled.

City -3 goals......Aguero, Dzeko and Balotelli have to be up for it big time with Tevez ready to return and proven in this stage of the season. Got it at 14/5 from WilliamHill.

Imagine Newcastle would do well against a Wolves side in disarray too

Agreed, similarly Fiorentina look decent odds to beat Lazio who have a managerial crisis of their own. Have some small bets on Fiorentina, Newcastle, Juve, Arsenal, Swansea and Sunderland and on Welbeck and Gylfi Sigurðsson as scorers tomorrow.

Got small amounts on Newc, Chelsea, West Ham. Got a significant sum on City. Don't fancy touching Serie A tonight as no idea which way that one's going to go.

Got Newcastle to win by 2, City by 3 and Birmingham & West Ham. Nothing else I feel safe betting on today.

I don't see Newcastle/Wolves being as straight forward as people seem to think, although Wolves are missing Fletcher which is big for them.

Unfortunately City will smash Blackburn later.

I've got bits and bobs on Crewe, Ipswich, Preston, and Southampton.

    City/Liverpool/Chelsea ~£9 returns ~£21

    City/Liverpool/Chelsea/Sunderland/Birmingham/Charlton £2 returns £21.76

Also, just seen an old bet I placed a while ago United/West Ham/Charlton/Crawley to win their respective leagues. £2 returns nearly £160!

So far, so bad...0/3  it will hopefully serve a purpose to show everyone than I know nothing and that people can make money backing the opposite of what I say. Good call for caution on Wolves Utd Heap, I'm just glad I never bet more than comparatively pittance.

Does anyone know how or where you can make bets on fixtures in the future? For example, I want to have a look at United's next seven or eight games, but I've never seen a bookmaker's offer more than a week in advance?

Try emailing them/ringing them up/going in a bookies and asking directly. They should be able to quote you a price I would have thought.

Although I tried to email to get a quote for something in January and they never replied, so maybe email isn't the best of those three options.

At half time on Sunday I laid £75 to cover my loss (we looked ropey at best). Sadly this reduced my profit by around a third, oh me of little faith!

Really? There aren't any websites that do long-term bets?

I've not really got a problem with going and asking for a price, but I don't know how they'd work it out. Would they figure out an estimate price on the spot or use some system to get a more accurate price?

Or are you as clued up as me?

If you get a quote from anywhere they'll make sure it has a huge margin to cover the uncertainty, I doubt it'd be worth it. Though you should be able to find a decent bookie to offer you prices on our our next few games if you're interested.

In the old days the bookie would quote a price off the top of his head - these days the chains aren't interested in one-offs they want volume business.

Took a bit of a hit on us tonight. Won't put anything on us in Europe again this season, poor odds and too unpredictable.

I had a bit on Inter at half time at 2/1. I was following the stats in the Italian games tonight, what a crazy game in Naples!

Can't blame you, Stuttgart have been in excellent form lately and they were at home to last place Kaiserslautern.

They battered them too, 22 shots to 7 and 63% possession.

liking a sunday treble of Schalke, AC Milan and Montpellier (although betfair wont let me see the odds on Sunday Ligue 1 games for multiples :houllier:)
