Futbol Miami is a shit name, they should have went with something catchier and perhaps sea animal related. Something like Miami Dolphins or Miami Marlins perhaps.

Futbol? Seriously? Miami FC just sounds simpler and better.

Reckon Cristiano will play for this side eventually.

Sounds proper daft doesn't it. Can only assume he's pandering to the large Latino community over there.

In one of those articles it mentions it hasn't been named yet, so maybe it'll be changed. I prefer it to the other soccer names though.

There already is a team called Miami FC, Paulo Maldini owns it, so that team name is already taken.

Should have just called them, The Miami Beckhams. Their crest has been designed by the Leeds creative team. it's an image of a crocodile eating a poor person with the Latin for, 'Always Hungry' underneath..

I could see them going for a highly inspired name like other MLS franchises did:
    Associazione Calcio Miami
    Benfica Miami
    Ajax Miami
    Miami Saint-Germain
    Besiktas Miami
    Atletico Miami
    Miami City FC
    Steaua Miami
    Juventus Miami
    Bayern Miami

It's not worse than New England Revolution, San Jose Earthquaks, Columbus Crew, Montreal Impact...I'm not bothered to list every name.

Futbol Miami will not be the name of the team. The name and colors will be announced in a month or so. They're going to consult the fans heavily on the name, colors, etc. (likely not using the same company that Leeds used).

I went to the event today, sporting my 94-96 shirt. Really happy for Beckham. It hasn't been easy navigating the ridiculous Banana Republic politics of Miami. I have trouble getting into MLS, but I'm happy to adopt them as a distant second club.

There's already a Miami United FC, which is in the third tier of leagues here. I remember hearing a rumor at one point thay Beckham was talking to them about buying the name. But the culture here is obviously Hispanic, with a lot more followers of La Liga (and to a lesser extent Serie A) than the PL. As much as I'd like to see it be MUFC, if they are going to borrow a European name, it's probably going to be something like Athletico Miami or Inter Miami, both of which I've seen thrown out by supporters groups.

Are they gonna play in the baseball stadium? Whenever I watch NYCFC it hurts my eyes to just watch them play in that abomination of a field.

No, this team is set to start play March 2020 in a proper football stadium probably 20/25k seater in a location TBD.

People are missing how massive this business deal was for Becks. He got the deal in his contract and now teams are being charged a $200 million franchise fee to start new teams. In a decade its gone from about 20 million to 200 million. Im not saying it's going to be worth 2 billion in another decade but its possible for it to hit a billion in his lifetime...

Yeah it’s massive but will he be able to fill the stands? Should have gone to another city. People in Miami won’t care if they don’t start winning right away.

He's some business man Beckham. The way he's built his brand is amazing really. Everything he touches seems to turn to gold...... And yet the annoying feckker is still likeable

Oh come on, it's obvious Beckham is educating the States about Football = soccer, hence Futbol! Just to avoid resemblance with NFL.

As much as I hate to say it, City will govern massively from having their own feeder team that they bought(Girona in Spain). We need to get with the selfie times unfortunately, we already got Milly Rockin and Agent P, why not use "Futbol Miami" as a feeder club of South American talents?

If it's not in the works already I doubt Woodward's techniques of finding economic talent..

Silly name, a bit like Real Salt Lake where they've chosen a footbally-sounding word regardless of how out of place it looks for a US team (though at least Beckham's makes more sense than Royal Salt Lake and there's a lot of Spanish spoken in Miami).

However having never cared either way about the MLS maybe I'll now be kind of pleased if Beck's team does well.
