Personally I think Bale would flourish at a club where he is the big star instead of playing second fiddle to (in this case) Ronaldo. I'd love to see Bale back in England and especially United and think he would indeed make United a contender.

I actually think United are already an outsider for winning the CL. Ofcourse they're not as strong as Madrid, but hell, Greece won the 2004 euros too...

"They're probably a little bit short at the moment. You've got Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku, if he fulfils his potential, Marcus Rashford, David de Gea, a world-class player, and then if you add somebody like Gareth Bale to the mix, that's when you talk about United having Champions League expectations.

"Obviously, Mourinho has won the trophy before so we're going to be there or thereabouts, but whether we've got the players to go the whole way, I don't know."

If he can get back his form he could.

Right now Bale is stale and if he came to United he would fail.

Playing for the most dominant side in Europe Bale has scored 4 goals in his last 26 CL appearances.

I really don't think Bale is all it would take to make us CL contenders. Not with our FBs. Besides, he's something of a crock.

I agree he's been stale at Real, but at the 2016 euro's he was brilliant for Wales. I think it's because at Wales he's the big star and the team is build around that. This gives him the confidence he needs to elevate his game. I think he's just wasting away at Madrid, because he's not the main man there.

I think we'd be contenders in that we'd really be good enough for the knockouts (potentially...obviously he'd have to turn it on). To properly be contenders to win the thing we need to sort out our defence. I don't want him any more though really. There are better players up for grabs that are in/coming into their peaks..not well on the way out of it

Bale is a seriously underrated footballer in all honesty. He would be a mega star here and would transform us overnight. Shades of "RVP is too injury prone" going on.

Just that Robin had an injury free season and the best of his career before coming to us. Bale is the exact opposite currently.

I think Giggs should focus more on his career and find himself a job as a manager instead of giving us some advices, he failed here as an assistant under two managers. That way he can use his wisdom much more effectively.

Could have also said Griezmann, but he isnt Welsh i guess. Plus Bale rejected us once or twice, should have talked to his buddy.

RVP was much better at the time than Bale is right now.

I hope we steer clear. Let's buy players on the up rather than those on the wane.

Griezemann is easily the better player. If there's any choice between them, there really shouldn't be any.

I can't understand what he's still doing there. Suppose no one can afford him.

I'd love to have him at Liverpool and think he would do very well for you too

Younger, better, not injury prone, seems more eager to play for us than Bale, good vibes with Pogba already. Maybe even cheaper and probably lower wages, depending on what Bale would ask and Real Madrid.

The more I hear Giggs talking, the more happy I am that he isn't our manager.

About Bale, this ship has hopefully sailed for good. A payer that was massively overrated from English media (even when he was great, he wasn't that great), who has a lot of injury problems and who has been bang average for more than a year now. But sure, he is the solution to our problems.

Bale can feck himself. I know exactly what will happen, he'll hang on at Madrid for another couple of years and then only show the slightest interest in us when they have chewed him up and spat him out. A move to United would have been absolutely perfect for him this summer, with him likely to become increasingly sidelined at Madrid, so as far as I'm concerned (which means bugger all obvs) he can stay there and then come begging in a couple of years before finally ending up taking a big step down from Madrid and ending up at Spurs, Chelsea or Arsenal.

This made me smile :) at what? De Gea, for example, is miles better than him when both are on form... which Bale hasn't been for years. I suppose Rooney's just off form too.

If he's struggling in la liga he has no chance in England... Especially for the ££ and salary he would cost. Also comes from Giggs who said R. Sanches would be a star.

Doesn't matter when he don't want to leave Real and has squashed any rumors of going to United.
The Bale-talk is a dead horse that's been beaten by a stick and then driven over by a truck a million times.

As a Disney princess would say: let it go.

I swear when people make comments like this, all they have in their mind is Bale's performance for Tottenham against Inter Milan - 7 years ago!

People still seem to be starry-eyed about him. Despite his injuries. Despite his form. Despite all the evidence pointing to a player whose may well be on the wane. Already.

Bale is on the wane. Half of his ability comes from his physical attributes mainly his speed and this is not what it was so he is not half as effective as a result.

Aye. Giggsy, bless him, United legend though he is, is barely a step up from Garth Crooks and Robbie Savage in terms of spouting inane football sound bites. Punditry will be his future as I think he lacks the IQ to be a successful manager for any football club with ambitions to be at the top.

 De Gea is better than on form Bale let alone off form Bale.
You'd think off form Bale is like off form Messi still scoring a goal a game and winning matches. He's not. He's struggling and getting booed by his fans. Please stop thinking of the big name and focus on actual peformances.

After failing to land Griezmann and Perisic, he became desperate for a winger.
