You said there have been no 'rumbles'. There has been speculation from various websites / journos / papers about Real bidding for Kane all season. Or do you define 'rumbles' as something else?

I'd define as Perez or something more substation as a quote or head turning. Apparently Madrid are after Pogba too this summer, do you believe that?

I've no idea. I also haven't seen that reported anywhere.

I can see Kane staying for another season with the aim of playing in the new stadium and winning the league (if they aren't in the CL, then they can focus solely on the league). It would also make sense to wait until Ronaldo leaves Madrid, as signing while he's there would be a mistake I think.

What doesn't make sense is being under paid for a large part of your career - even if he gets 200K with his next contract, its not enough as salaries are on the verge of escalating once more.

Harsh, you could have at least chosen a pic where Rooney is facing the camera.

Neither do I, because he has a tendency to blow hot and cold. Looks great a lot of the time, looks shite at other times. Kane, I could see Real being genuinely interested in, as he's one of the stand out strikers in world football. I don't see him going this season at all, mind you. I could see it happening eventually, definitely.

I would actually sell Pogba if Madrid are after him ,for 300M plus Bale and Kovacic.

Oh don't get me wrong, I think he leave at some point unless we regularly start winning things. I just don't think it will be for another season or two.

That part of waiting a season is what I do not see clearly.
I don´t mean to belittle Tottenham but despite growing as a team they are still far from winning a premier or reaching a Champions final.
It is not something that will change in a season.
In the event that an offer arrives (we'll see, now Marca talks about Lewandowski, maybe we do not have the money) it would not make much sense for Kane to answer "save your super offer of 200 million and come for me next year".
Say no to the possibility of aspiring to everything every year, to be one of the leaders of Madrid, promotion for individual trophies, etc, requires a lot of cold blood and confidence in his possibilities and those of the team.

I have no idea how legitimate this is but 200mill and they'd sell him

Edit : that's as of now ie summer regardless of any factor he isn't even in this climate worth it albeit near but they'd sell for that it would be lunacy not too

He is from London and might not want to leave.

Trophies mean nothing compared to the money. If they offer him £400k or £500k a week he has to say yes.

I think at that point United and maybe City match the offer. Spurs will have to sell at some point to whoever he wants to play for. It’s what always happens eventually.

Listen to the man himself, he clearly wants to stay at the club and try to bring some success. Look at the statement he made only a few days ago about Tottenham.

It's a bit long winded but a good read.

We are no further away than United are - and yet plenty of United fans think Kane should be at United. It's pure double-standards.

As for Real Madrid, they have no chance of ever winning the Prem title ;)

Well guys, I see that you are very optimistic, although you were also before signing Bale, even Levy kept the play until the last days of August.
About the interview ... he seems committed, but did they ask him clearly for Madrid and said no ?.
In any case, if you had to lose someone this summer? Who would you rather lose, Kane or Pochettino?
That is a possibility. Actually there have not been many British players in la liga, and they have not always adapted well, but if Madrid, which is a club "friend" have to pay 200, I do not want to imagine the level of rebellion that would have to assume Kane to be sold to United or City.

It is cute how still so many people think £200Mil is going to be enough to get him. Using Neymar as some sort of measuring stick is absurd, because Barcelona would have never sold him for £200Mil it was only due to a release clause. In a open market Neymar, would easily cost £300Mil+, because he is the next heir to Messi and Ronaldo. Kane does not have a release clause and would cost £250Mil+(€283Mil+) something Real Madrid simply can't afford and that is just the price for Real Madrid, the fee for an EPL club would be closer to £300Mil.

Kane, partly because we'd get a shed-load of money and partly because having a great manager is more important than having a great player.

But the point is moot, because if Kane were sold this summer I'm pretty sure Pochettino would resign ... so we'd end up losing both.

Why would they ask about Madrid when there has been no firm interest? Also it wasn't an interview it was a statement Harry wrote himself. During the press conference this week Poch as asked about the Madrid job and he said no. Can I ask why we "have" to lose someone this summer? If we lost either one this summer we would lose both.

it is clear that there is no formal offer, but circumstances invite to think that there will be.
We are 4th, our forward is a disaster and the coach is being questioned. It is almost obvious that Florentino will want the most fashionable forward and a new coach.
Pochettino was asked by Kane, and said "If he asks to leave like Bale and Modric, we'll see what happens". And when asked about Madrid he answered
"Football will bring me to where football wants me to be".

Then you'll be wasting your time this summer.

Kane's situation and status at Spurs is very different than was the case for either Bale or Modric, so if RM think they'll sign Kane just because they signed the other two, then they'll be badly misreading the runes.

Nor do I see Pochettino abandoning Spurs for the Real Madrid circus this summer.

I'd say if he was to go anywhere it would be Madrid but it will not be this summer. He isn't Modric or Bale, he is at the club he loves and I wish there were more players like him. If at some point he wants to leave il wish him well, but he has said to many things to make me think he wants out this summer.

2 of the biggest clubs in England wanted a striker last summer, Kane was the perfect fit for both, and there was not one sniff of bid. Hat tells me his agent has told any clubs that he simply isn't intrested at the moment. If he was intrested there would have been much more noise from Jose and Conte.

As for Pochittino, he will not have an immediate impact at Madrid, he has little to know experience managing superstars, and doesn't suffer fools... See Adebayor, Capoue etc. I honest think he would get chewed up in his first season with you. Your problem isn't the manager it's certain players and cliques of players.

Genuinely thought Kane to be 1 season wonder, shoot on sight is his game. He has improved all facets thus far (can/should still) and for all intensive purposes is a world beater and simply a goal machine! If madrid don't sign him this summer we should bid the following summer (2020, offer Lukaku in exchange if he doesn't become as good if not better) as Spurs won't win anything and he would have seen the stadium through and then he will say he listened to 'the little boy inside him' :keano:

So Daniel Levy will laugh at this offer just like he was laughing on the beach at a £105m offer for Bale.

They have something in common - in both cases Glaston categorically excluded any possibility of Levy accepting any transfer offer for the player.

Tottenham would be mad to turn down £250m for Kane. Everyone has their price. Do you think Barcelona would have turned down £800m for Messi? It's silly to say that someone will definitely not move to another club when history has shown us that all kinds of strange moves happen. Kane moving to Real Madrid for a world record fee would not even be mildly strange.

He probably won't leave Tottenham this year but it's silly to be so bullish about it.

Im not being bullish, I just don't see any way Kane will be leaving this summer. As soon as Bale said he wanted to go I knew he would be gone, I have always said that if Bale haven't of pushed for his move to Madrid Levy wouldn't have sold him. As long as Kane keeps talking the way he is I'm not worried as soon as his quotes change il start contemplating it.

Fwiw I think you are right. Kane won't be moving this summer. However you need to give him a massive pay rise which matches his ability and stature as one of the leading strikers in the world. Also you need to be winning big trophies. I can maybe see the first one happening but don't think you will succeed in winning the PL/CL next season either. Then it remains to be seen if Kane still wants to stay and help Spurs out or get a move to a club which is always in the running for all major honours.

That's what I believe in a nutshell, he will get his contract and then we need to win something. It will be up to Kane when he moves, £200M is a lot of money but his goal scoring ability is simply priceless to a club like ours.

The discussion is incredibly tedious - some people are extremely delusional (as usual), speaking like they know Kane personally, almost giving the impression that Spurs are different from every club in the league. They really aren't.
The history of modern football shows us the same thing over and over. Great players at lesser clubs leave for bigger clubs, it's inevitable. Many clubs in the world have a reputation Spurs can only dream about, a reputation it would take decades to match. Bigger clubs pay double the wages aka. rewarding the player what he is worth in the market. Once the big, first offer comes in - and trust me, it will - Kane would have to ask himself if he can wait any longer by a) not winning anything at Spurs whilst b) getting paid less than what he would get somewhere else. The clock is certainly ticking...

In a few months, he will see his former mate Kyle Walker lift his first trophy. Mates can change very quickly.

Who is saying he won't move at some point? I don't think you will find a Spurs fan that will say he's going to spend the rest of his career at the club no matter how much we would want it. I base my opinions on what the guy says, he says things that not many other footballers would say, I'm not saying I know him. I think he should get a lot more credit than he's getting for his loyalty.

I think it suits your belief more than Harry will be sold this summer, basically why should "a club like Tottenham" have arguably the best out and out striker in the world. I don't see why you have to call another set of fans dilusional, I simply go by what our chairman and the player himself says. Of course your welcome to your opinion, if he is still at Tottenham next year come back and tell me I'm dilusional.

Out of interest - by the end of Kane's career how will he be viewed in comparison to Rooney's career?

Will he be looked upon in history as being higher up in the all time British stakes?

Kane will score more goals and may succeed at a World Cup someday, which makes me think maybe...then again Rooney won 5PL/1CL and was a great all round player

    what do you all think?

Hard to tell as Kane is only 24 and could well play into his 30s, baring injury. I think he will easily break Shearer's record. Rooney had the ability to be on the same level as Ronaldo and Messi IMHO just didn't have the work ethic, that's how highly I rated him. I also think Fergie used him as a bit of a carthorse shoehorning him in where he could.

I think his private live and stories in the media overshadow a bit how worldclass a player he was.

Kane is an awesome player and does deserve to play for a big team but i think Spurs will not let go of him very easily unless Poche leaves and when that issue is solved, he will maybe leave. Real need a striker of his caliber and so do United.

Of course, let's be honest it's feasible. Isn't it, although Levy will be like £200 Miill and Lukaku

In 2020/2021 would anyone do this deal? If theoretically Lukaku stagnates and Kane continues (No Brainer right)

Wayne Rooney Stats for United in PL:

    Minutes: 31,705
    Goals: 183
    Assists: 108
    Goal every 173mins

Harry Kane Stats for Tottenham in PL:
    Apps: 138
    Minutes: 11,128
    Goals: 100
    Assists: 16
    Goal every 111mins
    Goal or Assist every 96mins

    Stats taken from Transfermarkt

Kanes no doubt a better goal scorer as proven by the fact he's scored 20+ goals 4 seasons in a row in the PL. Rooneys only managed 20+ goals in the PL twice in his entire career. But when you take into account assists then Kane and Rooney isn't too far apart. Kane should already be viewed as one of the best strikers to ever grace the PL given his stats, only 2 other players have managed 20+ goals 4 seasons in a row. That's how rare it is. I think Rooney will be remembered as a player who had the potential to be truly one of the best in his generation across Europe but ultimately didn't quite reach that. We'll see if Kane can do it.
