I'm impressed with the additions that have been made after the update. The wiki, the blog, the podcast. It's made the site even better so a big thanks to Niall and others who've contributed.

I'll give this a listen at some point. It's a bit of a shame it hasn't been built from the ground up by existing regular Caf posters, but it's arguably an even stronger platform to start from and get it going successfully this way, and hopefully it'll eventually incorporate much more of the views and input of folk who actually post on here

I agree that it needs a Caf member in it, as someone said, its just a United podcast with a RedCafe title

I think a half hour is too short for a podcast. I always felt that the Football Fancast United podcasts were rushed. I don't remember how many times I heard these guys, but maybe I'm just thinking of their predecessors (as there have been at least 3 different sets of hosts for the United show on there in the last 15 months).

I think an hour podcast, with a guest or two on for 10-15 minutes would be great. Maybe the guests are posters, but maybe sometimes you can get someone recognizable outside the cafe (or even a groundskeeper or pub owner or someone who's been around a while with some good United stories). Discuss the games, but also give listeners another reason to tune in, as there are many places to hear/read/watch discussion of United games.

Just my opinion. Regardless, I'll look forward to watching it develop.

Excellent idea this. Was browsing iTunes podcast yesterday and was surprised at the lack of any MUFC podcasts while other clubs seemed to have loads.

I reckon the integration with the website happen naturally and shouldn't be rushed. Too many in-jokes would put off new listeners/caftards.

Nice job. I hope we can have one every week, with regular posters as guests. Podcast topics could be tailored to the contributors' interests/areas of expertise. For example, Mr MUJAC knows a lot about history and youth players, others might be knowledgeable about future ground expansion, others still about finance and the debt, tactics, individual players, topical cafe threads, etc. I don't just want to hear about last week's games.

My only negative in this one was hearing the equivocation about whether Ronaldo was our best player over the last 3 seasons - of course he was, and has the awards to prove it. It is hardly "arguable", as one of the contributors said.

I also agree that the podcast could be longer.

Subscribed it last night and listened for five minutes.

Niall, it would add more spice if Plech or some one gives a running commentary on threads created on this board.

Just finished listening to it. I like it.

Could do with a decent theme tune and some stings (TD is already on it, no doubt) and maybe a couple more regular features but all in all a very good effort. Look forward to listening to it throughout the season.

A lot of the additional features of the site pass me by but this is a brilliant idea.....

My suggestion would be for the discussion to relate to the most popular threads on the cafe in a give week, I guess it will evolve into something like that.... but great work lads!

Welcome lads. Im sure the Caffites will accept you as they get to know you. Hopefully over the season your podcast will develop some Caf humour/opinions etc.

Im looking forward to the Legends section, i think by Dov?

I'd like to hear his opinions sometime on the following legends:

    Schmeichel, Hughes, Whiteside, Ralph Milne

Not sure if people who ask for feedback really want it or not, but here goes...

This is a nice addition to the site, and the three presenters are all very personable, all seem like really nice lads. They're also fairly articulate, none of the constant umming and erring you tend to get on these things.

The downside is, I'm not totally sure why I'd want to keep tuning in, because, without meaning to be rude, it isn't really funny or really insightful, either of which would be fine and both together great.

There's a few smiles - the Scholes-like bloke sounds quietly sardonic - and a generally pleasant atmosphere, but it's not what you'd call funny - it's not trying to be. And you don't get anything from it on the level of analysis that you don't get from chatting to your mates down the boozer, it's more or less the same conversation only with less liberal use of the word 'cnut'. "I've seen a few youtube videos but that's it... I only know him off football manager.... he doesn't look great, but you know, Sir Alex knows what he's doing..."

Things like the centre midfield conversation are ones we've all had literally about a thousand times before. "We need a playmaker... Carrick and Fletch are excellent but not amazing... Anderson? Bags of potential, but needs to step up..."

To be fair, it has this in common with most media football discussion, even on major networks. It may be that there's just nothing much to say about football that we haven't all said before.

Maybe this will change with the reserve reports and stuff like that. Anyway, it's a good idea and very professionally done.

I enjoyed it, i dont think anyone can be too overly critical at this early stage.

Over time i think it'll be great, especially the legends bit, one thing i would suggest is maybe looking at ways to making it sound a little more professional (ie. better mics for recording, music, etc).

Nonetheless its a great addition to the site :)

'The other one' does have a name mate. I am guessing all this animosity I am getting is because I am from the south

Are there not any other southerners on RedCafe or something?!

Seriously though, I am happy to take criticism, aslong as it is constructive ;)

There's a fair few southerners around mate. Vast majority seem to be Irish though.
