A lot of people (myself included) thought there were a lot of silly criticisms of Guardiola (e.g. a mannequin could've won the treble with Barca) prior to coming to the PL. In his first few months his team was playing some unbelievable football and steaming through teams. Since then they've looked devoid of ideas, inspiration and quality in a lot of areas on a lot of occasions. Plus Guardiola looks on the verge of a mental breakdown...

What's everyone's take on him at this stage?

He is overcomplicating things. I am really surprised by some of the things he does.

Used to like him. Really dislike him now. Not sure if it's just city bias or because he's acted a twat on more than a few occasions.

It's a bit silly to open such a thread three matches into the season.

Trying to force Jesus and Aguero into the same side is the result of squad mismanagement, added to his bizarre use of KDB.
There's a severe lack of goals from midfield imo

Always thought he's been drastically overrated. Very limited manager that requires very expensive players to succeeed. Surely most managers will get results with having the best players? Certainly not a genius of any description.

He's been useless so far and worse than the previous manager. Not impressed at all.

I voted for one of the best managers in the world with flaws like everybody else, but his behavior was so abhorrent in the 2nd half. He should have been removed from the touchline. Absolutely ridiculous that he wasn't.

Of course he can be criticised. He has his flaws like every top manager. He's in the top group but by and large this season will make or break him in England and its fair to say his City team struggle at breaking down the 3 x 11 mans walls they have faced so far.

Should of had a red today in fairness and a little bit of his attitude is why I felt the team and crowd descended into shit at the end.

Agreed. Hope we don't feck up against Leicester later otherwise this will make us look even more silly.

Yes. And if this thread was created during the summer break I wouldn't have made that point. But at this moment it seems like a knee jerk reaction to their slow start.

He's a twat to be honest. A smart twat who goes to the best teams with either the best players or with lots of money so that he looks like he's a genius.

I dislike him for his antics and his teams antics. Great manager, with the caveat of taking control of two of the best teams in the world at the time and a bottomless money pit.

Half a billion spent and he still needs a dodgy ref to get a result against one of the weakest teams in the league.

It may be but I think it's an opinion which many expressed last season and feel little has changed after many millions spent this summer. I don't think any different about him now than I did previously fwiw.

No idea. Nothing has changed after just 3 matches. He seems to have weird ideas which don't seem to work like he thinks it would. Is a bit neurotic. Mostly laugh at his interviews. Lower on the hate radar compared to Klopp.

I agree. He's signed a lot of good players but there doesn't really seem to be a cohesive formation or tactic he has implemented. There's a lot of sticking players in certain positions, which, half the time, feels like for the sake of it.

Very good manager but was only so successful because of the players he had. No chance to dominate as he did without having xavi, iniesta or messi. To play his 'ideal' syle of football you pretty much need world class players everywhere and when he doesnt, you can see the team struggles like City do at times.

He may have been a legend for Barca and/ or Bayern, but at City he's yet to prove himself.

If he doesn't deliver this season he deserves every bit of criticism that comes his way. He's cracking up.

I just wish he wouldn't act like a gigantic cnut on the sideline.

Outside of that, it's difficult to hold against him that he's had exceptional talent to work with; hardly his fault. And if I'm being honest, I wanted him at United and was very disappointed he went to City, can't be too hard on him without being a hypocrite. I certainly don't remember a large brigade calling him a fraud when it was possible he was coming to United.

Ultimately I hope he crashes and burns at City, obviously, but I still rate him as a manager I suppose, but he deserves all the critiscism coming his way.

Pep's stubborn refusal to change is hurting City, much to my delight.

Pep is obviously a very good coach, the football he prefers is not suited to every player and league though. It's quite clear that English football lends itself to teams that have pace and power. You can argue about whether that makes it old-fashioned, backwards or whatever. Facts are facts though and Pep just won't accept them.

Pep in another league, where possession and technique matter more, would do better. However, Pep in this league has gone full Van Gaal. He's more interested in his philosophy being proven right than winning games the easiest way.

His problem is failing to adapt, his Football hasn't changed in 8/9 years but everyone else's has. Teams know how to beat him or at least make it as hard as possible, he has no other method of playing because he is tactically poor.

Well, most of you guys are noticing it since he is in PL. But he was a bit of a tw*t already in Spain, with his false humility being the worst part. The things he did today on the touchline...If Mourinho did half of those things he would have been sent off already. Possibly even Klopp would have been sent off, and we all know how much the fourth officials enjoy Klopp's 'passion.'

This is the first time where Guardiola is a manager at a club that doesn't necessarily got a monopoly on the league, and it shows, since sometimes it looks like he is loosing it in the after-game interviews.

I was hoping he would come here at some point when he was at Barca, if I am being honest. Obviously this wont happen now, and looking at how he had slightly less success at Bayern Bayern uber alles. Then how he joined a mega rich club with money, no option approach to players, and finished 3rd, and is struggling (early season I know) to make them a free flowing, scoring team, shows his limitations. Did you know since he has become a manager, in the same length of time as Mourinho he has spent more?

He's a smug twat. Don't think he's done any better than Pelligrini despite spending a lot of money.

First time he's having to build a side & compete against teams & he's struggled to impose his tactics. Still early in the season, but I have not been impressed by city so far

Waiting until all of the facts have come to light and making clear, reasoned, objective assessments of the facts is a pretty boring approach to discussing something silly like football. If you want to take that approach then there are more useful subjects to direct your energy towards. Thankfully in football it's an atypical approach and most of us will discuss what we feel, when we feel it.
