You can't look at Mbappe now and say it is normal that he gets 40m before tax. When PSG loaned him with obligation to buy, the following contract will have been already agreed. At that point, Mbappe just had 1 season at Monaco and no world cup exploits. His status was the same as Ousmane Dembele, who looked like an equally promising talent at Dortmund. Dembele went to Barca for 105m € plus 40m € in very easily achievable add-ons (5m € for every 25 games until he has 100 games at Barca is just one of those).

Der Spiegel revealed that Dembele earns 12m before tax at Barcelona (up to 20m depending on add-ons). They are not doing guess work like all the other media outlets, they are part of Football Leaks and actually have a look into the contracts / copy of contracts of the stuff they reveal.

So you have two talents with the same quality, same nationality, same age, same status, both going from selling clubs to super clubs and one is supposed to earn 12m before tax and the other one gets 40m before tax? It is simply not plausible.

It is. Borne of the assumption that every country talks about wage after tax just because we italians do.

Some of those have been revealed by football leaks, too, they really should not be making this mistake

    I read it as 20 not 40

EDIT: Right I see what you mean now, yes must be an error

Although Mbappes status was above Dembeles the champions league exploits etc.

You may be right on Mbappe being more famous because of the CL. Yet he was a bigger risk because he was less proven. He only had half a season as a starter in a high flying side. Plenty of players can look good for half a year in an attacking machine. Dembele already had 2 starting seasons at that point, one at midtable side Rennes and one at a struggling Dortmund side (after they lost 3 key players in the summer they only finished 3rd behind Leipzig).

So Mbappe had the better platform to shine, but I genuinely think the talent they showed was of similar quality. Mbappe had better decision making and Dembele had better dribbling/playmaking ability, that was the only difference. Many had tipped those two to be the next Messi/Ronaldo to rule the footballing landscape in the future.

The last season was very bad for Dembele. Having problems settling in at Barca after a long injury was not the worst, the problem was he was not a key part of his countries second world cup win. Mbappe will forever be a legend for France, yet Dembele still has everything to prove.

The early signs of his form at Barca are very good though, he may still become an All Time Great.

Christ! Ronaldo's wage is out of order compared to his teammates. Sooner or later everyone is gonna ask for a payrise.

Well, you are kidding, but i don't think it's a good thing for the dressing room to have one player so above the others.

you could say the same for Messi who Barca bend over backwards for....or any other star player of a team...

Besides, I'm pretty sure Ronaldo's teammates are mostly in awe of him especially Dybala.

You are right, but the difference is that Messi has been at Barca since he was born so everyone knows he is a Barca legend, while Ronaldo has just arrived and immediately got paid in that way. I don't think Juventus needed him though, as they were already very strong.

Two good games this weekend: Napoli-Fiorentina and Juventus-Sassuolo. Napoli have to respond after the heavy defeat against Sampdoria, but it's not gonna be easy against a very in-form side. Should be easier for Juventus, instead. Yeah, Sassuolo are second, but just because they haven't faced tough opponents so far.

Sassuolo are frisky and very well coached, but they don't have a good history at the J-Stadium...probably a relatively easy juve win, with sassuolo getting plaudits for playing "well"

Gervinho is so good despite his complete disinterest in any kind of pressing or defending. If he stays fit Parma will easily stay up

Spaletti was fecking stupid to left out Icardi for Balde. And he's not found his best 11 yet rotating every game like he is Don or somewhat. And their midfield is all about brawn with no brain. Regret wasting my time watching them this time.

Three inter FBs started this game and the only good one played on the other team. You can't make this shit up

Also, this ref should never be allowed anywhere near another professional game again :houllier:

Inter in crisis…. Tottenham will have fun of us…. too bad there's no chance that Spalletti (that unfortunately he renewed just a few weeks ago) will be sacked with Suning, unless he'll lose 5 consecutive games from now……

ps. parking the bus all game and scoring one goal with one clear chance is not domination really.

What Inter need the most and teams that not name Juve in Serie-A is point or result. They can care about style and domination after on par with Juve on results. Napoli proved style counts nothing when they fall every season.

Spurs aren't in much better shape atm

Spalletti should stop playing Dalbert though. Bad enough with D'Ambrosio, but he least he's a decent defender. I wouldn't be any worse than Dalbert ffs

Birsa just scored a wonderful long range goal. Roma still leading 2-1 though.

Roma look so incredibly lethargic. They lack any kind of winner mentality and could really use someone like Conte as manager.

Monchi has done a really crap job building that squad, understandable why their fans seem to dislike him. Confused at why anyone would want him anywhere near here, he seems more suited to average sides where his bring a zillion in sell a zillion policy may work better.

Dybala should be on the bench, one of the most overrated players around. Costa, Mandzukic, CRonaldo front three.
