Newest trailer and world reveal of Toy Story coincides with the new release of Toy Story 4 in 2019. All new plot-line, I'd imagine too.

Does anyone believe they'll make it in 2018?
I'm putting my eggs in 2019 and taking 2018 as a bonus.

There's probably a Kingdom Hearts 2.98537 release or something planned that'll push it back another few years.

Kingdom Hearts 2.96 Dream Coded Final Remix HD
The early worlds, according to Tetsuya Nomura, is currently at 90% complete while the worlds encounted in the middle of the game are around 60% complete. Tetsuya Nomura did not confirm what percentage the end phase is currently in, but it is "something he's always wanted to do and put into Kingdom Hearts, ever since the days of working on Final Fantasy." He added: "It is bound to surprise everyone."

I've been trying to work out if this is a joke or not. Wouldn't surprise me!

Been listening to some of the music from Kingdom Hearts 2 in particular recently, and I think this theme has been burnt into my entire being for the rest of eternity after all the attempts it took to beat Lingering Will:

That move where he semi-paralyses you and then starts shuffling up your commands, all the time while damaging you... seriously.

Never played any of these. What sort of game is it? I'm guessing JRPG style turn based combat?

‘What if we mixed lots of Disney nostalgia and films with the convoluted Final Fantasy plots and characters?’ Result is Kingdom Hearts.

Game is at its sparklingly best when the Disney charm is in full flow - running around in Agrabah, or fighting tournaments with Herc in Olympus. Not so much when it pads out the origins of Kingdom Hearts, or alternate characters in alternate universes.

    Yeah it looks good.

Should I play the first two before this? I've heard the story is a bit of a mess.

I hear this a lot too, and a lot of people saying nostalgia is a big part in having fun with the game, which makes me a bit reluctant to buy this as I haven't played the previous games

You should at the very least watch a youtube video or two about the story so you're somewhat clued in.

Yeah well that's what I did with The Witcher 3 (although I did play 2 years ago) and it was fine, mainly because they did a great job of making it accessible to newcomers. From what I'm reading this doesn't seem quite the same.

Plus the 2.5 remix seems to still be fun to play according to people so maybe I should just play it anyway.

Honestly, you could probably get away with playing 2.5, but I'd also go through 1.5 if I were you. Just wanted to give you the "minimum-effort" trip option. :)

Playing this after God of War is painful, graphics and gameplay so far are 5 years behind. Hope to be surprised, but the first world Olympus is horrendous.

On the normal ps4 the game must be running at 25 fps maximum

Just finished Olympus, loved the visuals, and the ending of the chapter was solid, then I got to play ad Riku for a bit which was very fun, happy so far with bow the game is going even though felt the start was weak with how Maleficient left Sora to "deal with him later"

Maleficent helped Sora before, so it's not out of in-game character for her to see him as of potential use later on. Mind I'm hunting lucky emblems in the 2nd world so I don't know if there is anything later. But it certainly doesn't seem all that weird.

Watch a story recap then decide because unlike FF its all connected, even the side games.

Knowing the story isn't a problem. I'm talking about gameplay, worth it if I enjoyed Final Fantasy or they're different ?

Just a few notes now when I've finally put it away. I doubt i'll spend the extra 10-ish hours to get the platinum.
Finished it with the secret ending in about 40 hours with every chest and lucky emblem found.
Overall I'd say it's been fun. If I were to rate it I'd have given it 6 or 7 out of 10. There is just so much missing to make the game compelling. Having now seen the whole story presented I'd argue that people who want to understand the story as it goes (and not just after a lot of the end-game events have happened) will want to play at least: Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2, birth by sleep & chains of memories.
The surprising positive for me is that I didn't mind gummi ships this time around. It was okay.

I've got some giant annoyances with the game:
    1. There is almost nothing Final Fantasy in this game. For a game-series that was meant to be a mix between Final Fantasy & Disney this was all Disney.
Sure, there is moogles still, and you walk on top of a cactuar, and there are 3 inactive toys on display for Ifrit, Odin & Bahamut.
    That is it!

    2. The worlds are bigger, you can walk up surfaces you wouldn't have been able to in the past. There are 6 Disney worlds.
You never revisit them to see changes in their worlds. You never need to track back because you needed x ability to reach an item or lucky emblem.

    3. They string you along very early about something that they just intend to show in the secret ending so you keep somewhat interested for the future games. It is hinted at in the first 2 worlds and after that they drop it completely until the secret ending, waste of screen-time in the middle of the game.
Where usually you explored worlds the way the story goes this time makes going to new worlds seem like a chore as there is nothing in the story that makes you go there, it's only because you need to learn the power of waking & "Sora needs to get strong again". There is no incentive beyond that. Sure the worlds are fun enough to go through once just to see them, but that's it. Doesn't give much replayability from my initial point of view.

    4. New keyblades are almost pointless bar the absolute end-game ones.
Kingdom key has a good moveset and as long as you upgrade it it'll do the damage both for magic and normal attacks up until you get the good stuff, it also probably has the best moveset up until you get
Wheels of fortune from Pirates of the Caribbean
which is one of the last two disney worlds you are in. Beyond that there is 2 more great keyblades that you can get, but both of the last ones are much more effort-demanding to get, and once you get them there is really just the final boss & the one secret boss they put into this game to take down with it. Again, not worth the effort as opposed to all the superbosses we had the option of challenging in KH1&2. Magic is also rendered almost useless with the exception for cure spells and the odd magic-kill.

I'm being negative, but I'm really just mentioning the things I found bad, there are tons of stuff I found to be as I expect a Kingdom Hearts game to be & the gummi ship part that I thought was surprisingly well done.

Combat is fun. The storyline is beyond atrocious. Cut scenes everywhere. Soundtrack isn’t near as good as KH2.

All in all, it’s pretty much a mess.
