On Talk sport Mike Parry is hosting a talk show on Dalglish's return and he is arguing that it's a big mistake. He alluded to the delusional nature of LFC fan's blinkeredness, saying that they were acting like they were on some ganja-liked drug which makes them believe he is the answer to all their problems

I think that's a likely scenario and I am not sure if it's a good thing or not. My heart says 'feck yeah, he belongs here' but my head is still trying to argue that there might be better managers for us out there in the summer.

The whole "former great coming back to save the day" thing rarely works.. It ends in ignominy more often than it ends in triumph. I've never wanted Cantona or Keane or anyone like that to be United manager for that reason, the only way is down so to speak...No one wants a Keegan or Shearer scenario. If he took a permanent position I could only see him harming his legacy.

I also don't think he'd take it. He doesn't really seem to want to be a manager. With his track record he could be quite a coveted one and rarely out of work, but he seems quite happy to pick and choose and dip his toe in when he wants. I don't think he's particularly fond of it really. And fair play, It seems far more hassle than it's worth to be a manager.

can we leave the Shearer, Keane etc. comparisons to the wayside. It seems largely overlook that these players are all shit managers.

Dalglish has won more league titles than Wenger, is one of five managers to at all have won the premiership and one of only 7 to ever have won the double in England.

He could be out of management for 30 years without watching a game of football and still be vastly more clued up than the 'former greats' who have failed to make a mark in management in latter years.

Listening to him speak, it makes me wonder how Hodgson ever managed to be so goddamn awful when speaking to the press and fans. Kenny is brilliant.

I totally disagree with the article though. If there is one thing that is a given, it is that he will motivate these players. That is his forté as a manager. He instills confidence in his teams. And as for the present team, they may be millionaires, but regardles sof how much they've slept in class they will all know that the man in the dressing room is a living legend, has won everything as a player, won everything he could win as a manager, played with the best and then managed them. The only players I can think of who could be too big for their boots against a manager are Gerrard, Torres and Carragher (the latter moreso due to his long stint as a senior local player moreso than being ace these days) and stevie and carra wouldn't fecking dare blink if Kenny told them not to and it's wellknown that Torres idolises Dalglish himself.

That is how you talk about your players. Not that souldraining stuff Roy fed us.

The main concern for me remains the evolvement of the game, how much he has kept up to speed while he was out and how well his methods translate today.

you're right, its only the headline saying that he will be the new number 2

at nowhere does the statement say anything other than he is going to work with the backroom. Its a good appointment, by all accounts he's a good coach

Why would Torres idolise Dog Leash? Surely he quit playing football well before Torres was involved as a player at any level, plus I doubt living in Madrid as a child he wouldn't have local heroes to worship.

he's a liverpool fan, has been at the club for years now, met him, probably seen all vids as well, knows what he stands for.

I'm amazed you struggle with the idea of it.

Torres idolises Dalglish now? Was he even born when Dalglish was in his pomp? I'm calling shenanigans on this. No way did some young Spanish lad grow up idolising a retired Scottish footballer.

    Yup.

Huge difference between admiring and idolizing B9. Someone you idolize is your hero, someone whose footsteps you'd be honored to walk in, someone who has greatly influenced (usually) your childhood and inspired you every step of the way. Admiration is a much much lesser emotion. Torres admires a shit load of people I'm guessing.

Then we should probably worry about King Kenny. I fear he is going to be doing a lot of struggling this season.
