Bale should put his feet up in Madrid and keep taking their money.

To be honest if he's available I could see woodward trying to make it happen regardless of the managers wishes. He's wanted Bale for years.

He'd be another Sanchez, but even more expensive

No chance. I’d be livid if we signed him.

Don´t see us making these kind of signings under Ole.
He has stated that the type of signings need to change.

    No. we have enough crocks.
Don't want an ageing crock who would get only worse. Real is getting rid because he is not worth the salary they are paying him.

Usually I'd agree with you but I think the Sanchez fiasco has folks thinking differently these days.

Great player, definitely world class on his day. But injuries + wages are a hugeeee stumbling block. If we can sign him for 30-40m and he would take a huge pay cut, plus we would have to ensure there are playing clauses on the transfer fee + wages.

Forget about Bale. If we were one player away from CL glory I'd give Bale some thought, but the squad needs 3-4 players to compete for the PL trophy.

A shame we didn't sign him when the chance presented itself many years ago, but what's done is done.

Yeah, let's sign someone who's on 600k, chose another club over us, twice, is perma cricket and as is now looking for a last contract to see out his playing career.

I wouldn't sign him for free.

Silly to say this without knowing a player’s character or motivation.

Some of your criteria would have ruled out United signings who went on to have great careers at the club.

The only bit in my post that requires knowledge of his motivation is the bit about why he'd leave. It's not much of a leap, if at all, to say what I did given he very publicly stated his desire to stay at Madrid when linked to us in the past.

    I'd take him.

He would be our second best outfield player instantly.

I think the time to sign him has passed. We need to sign players who are on the cusp of being world class like Sancho/Felix and maybe sign a experienced CB like Koulibaly..

You would really think after the Sanchez debacle that people wouldn’t still say things like that.

I would love to see him go back home to Spurs:nervous: @SquishyMcSquish how do Spurs fans feel about the potential of something like that?

I feel his confidence would go up as well as taking Spurs up another level. That season he had at Spurs was incredible.

100% - I'd have happily taken him a couple of years ago. But now, I think it's be an absolute disaster.

It would be the most Woodward thing ever to be chasing Gareth fecking Bale all summer while our rivals snap up the likes of Neves, Sancho and Koulibaly.

30m and 200k pw max... Or pay as you play. It would equate to 400k per appearance if you assume 25 games ish.

No no no no no no aaaaand no.

Avoid these kinds of signings. Players who are in their later years and want one last big pay day, feck right off with that.

His pace was one of his strongest assets and that'll be declining soon, if it hasn't already; he's always injured, he's rejected us before, and he'd want extortionate wages.

It would be a really stupid signing. The Bale that left Tottenham would be an amazing signing but he's finished now.

Problem is his wages, and it's simply too big a stumbling block. There's no way we would pay near what he's on at the moment and it's naive as hell to imagine he will take a massive pay cut to come here.

On that basis it's a non starter unfortunately. I loved him at Spurs and do believe that he would still be brilliant for us (if he stayed fit) but it simply won't happen.

I heard he's a bit of a prick in real life. Wouldn't want him anywhere near our squad. Overrated, too injury prone and a bit of a diva. We want the Sancho's and De Jong's please.

I think both DDG & Pogba are off in the summer if we don't have CL. Have a horrible feeling that Real will stitch us up & get us to do a player swap. Pogba & DDG for Courtois & Bale. When you also consider how crap we are in our transfer dealings i wouldn't put it past Real to get a few million of Woody too.
