And that’s how United fans see him
He looks like fecking Jason Lee, now.
It does look like a pineapple.
As soon as he stepped on the pitch the first thing I thought was Jason lee. It won’t be long before the “he’s got a pineapple on his head” chants start.
Not a fan of the (pineapple)man-bun to be honest. What happened to his cornrows? Looked 10x better
Does it really matter?
Beckham has had worse haircuts and they certainly didn’t do him any harm.
His new hair has some ... character, I guess we can say. I think he needed it because, and I don't know about you guys, but he has never been one who stood out as overly flamboyant, to put it that way.
Not sure it's been said and you also need to be of a certain age but it's got a bit of the Jason Lee's about it.
So for those who don't know Jason Lee was a forward for Nottingham Forest. He had a few misses and back then there weren't many programs about football. Frank Skinner and David Baddiel had a show called "Fantasy Football league". In the show they looked at the lighter side of football (way before soccer AM - I believe). Anyway they used to sign a song about Lee "He's got a pineapple on his head". Pretty sure away and even his own supporters stated singing it and it really impacted his form. I think they even wrote an apology and asked fans to stop (of course they didn't).
Anyone else remember that?
No one is saying it will do him any harm. We're just saying it's a shit hair do
Chris Smallings hair nearly has as many pages as Rojo and Darmians performance thread 6 months deep into the season. Sign it up!
I'm Chris Smalling and I'm Phil Jones.
Worse? No way!
He goes vegan and then all of a sudden he comes out with that mad hair cut. Next thing you know he'll be off on a gap year to Thailand.
It doesn't grab me at all, unlike him.
I always thought that was a weird hangup. Just cut your hair you fool and end it.
Its not like he has a deformity that he has to live with. We've all had shit haircuts!
Yes, doing yoga and sipping green tea.
Baddiel's blackface dates it if nothing else
I like the hair style. But I'm used to seeing that kind of hair everyday. Clearly most of you arent
Do you work on a fruit and veg stall?
You lot would have really struggled in the 70s with the hair footballers used to have. Amazing how some people's minds are blown by any hair style that isn't that chavvy short back and sides look that every male of a certain age seems to have nowadays.
Do you not remember the blond cornrows?
Well its better than the do-rag, at least
Ah, you’re right
No, I don't need to work at a veg stall to be able to see a black man with braided hair put in a pony tail. Didn't know that was a thing
Ah you think I’m being serious!
Apologies . I actually should have read that differently than I initially did
I’m only dicking around, it’s all good
I thought he looked better with that September time cut, but I guess he doesn't think so - which is fair enough.
I certainly hope you look nothing like Dirk Kuyt with your 35 yo man-bun. For the sake of humanity.
Yes, the black man should have just conformed and got a haircut that's more in line with white people's ideas of afro hairstyles. If he really wanted to keep it long he should have gotten a "hilarious" afro instead.
Who is Jason Lee?
It was an atrocious haircut no matter who he was.
There's no need to turn this into a race issue and there was more than white people that were laughing at him.
It would be cool if he had that old afro, you have that and everything you do looks funky! If I could grow it I would.
Btw, His hair isn't much different from Wan Bissaka is it, a popular style nowadays, no?
It is a race issue, a low key one, but still a race issue.
It's a shit haircut issue.
But it's not, nobody would look good with that hair whatever race they are. Stop making it into something it's not.
