You've completely failed to understand the question. The reason the question is being posed to is to determine who is the champion of preference amongst fans of clubs with no obvious and inherent feeling towards the contenders. A fan of a PL relegation struggling outfit (barring abberations) has no historic / traditional reason to want Liverpool, City or Spurs to win but he may prefer one - maybe due to stay of play or likeability. Same goes for the other neutrals. It's a perfectly legitimate point to raise albiet hard to actually guage.

If you have two teams competing for the title - one playing eye catching exciting football and the other mechanical defensive foorball, people who would ordinarily be neutral with respect to the same at the outset may be swayed towards the former and their allure. It's really a basic concept an tweeter interested in throwing shade is throwing shade at.

He's never lost back to back league games either.

    Nailed on draw.

Must this thread be revived after every Liverpool victory? We know they're gonna win the league, so let's just not talk about them from now on.

    The only games Liverpool will most likely drop points are;
    Manutd (a)
    Spurs (h)
    Possibly Chelsea (h)
Every other game they just seem to win. No team out of the top 5 in prem league have taken points off them and can't see that changing.
City will have to win every bloody game to stop there lot. Incredible really.

Will be interesting to see what happens if Liverpool go deep again in the UCL, last season they threw some league games (Stoke at home?) to concentrate on Europe

Everton away will be no cake walk either. United fans are under the impression we always win there, but that's not true it's normally a draw.

Yeah they did throw some games away, but they were not going for the title and they do have a stronger squad from last season.

How does Salah keep getting away with blatant diving? Imagine if all teams constructed their players to go down in the box like with Salah. It would be 5 penalties every game.

That was a clear penalty, actually. He usually goes down very easily, but here it was obvious.

Their unreal defence will give them a very good chance.

First time I was able to watch a full match of the Scouses this season. They won ugly today but nothing really stood out as a point of excellence. Their defence was broken by weakish forwards and their midfield looked full of holes at times. They held off Brighton but compared to their previous high scoring meetings I thought they looked scrappy and even panicky at times. Not convinced they will win the league on performances like that.

I think you actually need to watch it first because you obviously haven't seen it then if you think that was a dive.

It was a clear penalty but Salah didn't need to go down like he'd been hit by a Boeing 747. Neither did Mane when he performed a 360 sideways flip after a shoulder barge.

    Not necessary.

Salah makes sure its given even when it's a penalty. His falls are hilarious. He has turned into a twat.

    Nah it's cool :)

It was a penalty, no doubting that, but Salah's (impressive?) theatrics made damn sure it was being given.

At the start of the season the referee's held a meeting on how they could best boost Liverpool's chances this season. They decided soft penalties would be one of a range of options they could use to help. It's been working well so far and is going according to plan as evidenced by the fact LFC are top of the league.

There is no other possible explanation - anyone saying that most or all of the penalties were justified has an agenda.

Spot on and they knew we weren't ready to challenge for the title last year so better to wait until this season.

His dribbling in the area is devastating, hence he gets brought down.

I've seen accusations of diving based on him stopping his run in front of the ball and what else is the defender supposed to do then.

Do I think he knows there is a good chance of penalties when he runs with it inside the area? Yes. Does that equate to diving? No, because defenders actually keep hacking at him to draw the penalties.

For proper sense of proportion, united have still had more penalties this season than we have had. But yeah, the refs are leading us to the title.

You have to now. When was the last time you saw a ref blow for a foul where the attacker stayed on his feet?

City are still in the League Cup and FA Cup while Liverpool are not.

I’m also willing to bet that City will go further than Liverpool in the Champions League this season.

If anyone is going to throw league games for knockout competitions, it will be City.

First of all its a shame how some teams perform against us and against other top teams. Watching the last 3 liverpool games im full of hope that they cant manage to win the league. They wont have that needed energy to finish first.

No, there no need for his acrobatics really. If it's a foul it's a foul, he shouldn't defy physics with his falls.

Today he was hacked while kicking. Let's say he were able to stay on his feet. Shot still scuffles from the foul though. You think any ref is going to blow the whistle if he recovers and takes another touch?

PS. Am not arguing that players should go down if they feel contact. Am arguing that when fouled, they have to go down to get it.

    As I say, I haven't seen today.

But this strikes me as a pretty good example around which to frame the ''should players go down'' question really.

You might have to reframe what constitutes a penalty offence once VAR gets rolling because atm, everything is a penalty in the technical sense.

Very good point regarding VAR. Technically if you grab and hold another players arm in the box for a second when a corner comes in that's technically a foul and a pen. But there would be pens at almost every corner

They had one fit central defender, making Fabinho make in central defence. For most Brighton chances, he was at fault. They are normally far better than they were today and even today, they had chances to score three or four.
