Well he’s wrong because Spurs won at Old Trafford in the league (and Derby was in the EFL Cup).

Cardiff is their next game and they are fighting for survival. Not an easy game by any means.

Stranger things have happened. We were 8 points ahead of City with 5 games to play and didn't win the title.

Dortmund were more attacking than the current Liverpool team. You look at their matches v City and Madrid (even in the match where they lost 2-0 but missed a lot of chances to score) to get an idea, their ability on the counter I feel was better than the current Liverpool team.

That Lloris cock-up in the last minute at Anfield is looking more criminal by the day. City would have clear daylight at the top of the table had that game ended a draw (even more so considering their superior goal difference).

    What a fecking mess.

He is saying Manchester derby at home (ManUtd vs ManCity) plus top 4 on the line, so Manutd shouldn't be easy for City.

1 game lost was vs Spurs.

Ah yes, meant Huddersfield and Newcastle. Cardiff might actually be the most challenging of the games.

And Derby shouldn't count as a defeat for the purposes of such statistical discussions: it was a 2-2 draw.

Unlikely. Unless Pep packs it in over the summer City will get 95-100 points again and Liverpool ain’t going to get the breaks they’ve had this year again.

A lot depends on if they can hold on to Van Dijk and Salah too.

There’d be some poetic justice in Cardiff getting something off of Liverpool with some hilariously bad refereeing decisions.

Think the other guy meant Manchester derby, not Derby county. He was hyping up the game, derby game, home game and top 4 on line. Only game lost was against Spurs.

Do you seriously believe that Klopp's Dortmund, without any tactical or other changes whatsoever, would amass 95 pts in the EPL season 18/19? I strongly disagree if your answer is positive. They were good, not that good though (even if we factor in the luck Liverpool have had so far).

If we do beat City and hand Liverpool the title, they'd better fecking well appreciate it for the next 20 years. No more moaning like old women about anything that goes in our favour in the future.

If it were any other side who would benefit, I'd be rabid about wanting us to thwart City winning the league. Instead, I found myself relieved when they scored their 3rd yesterday.

That the way my own club has been run these past 10 years has led us to a situation where all we can do is influence the outcome for others makes my piss boil.

If Liverpool win it then (cough spit wheeze) they will definitely deserve it. I questioned whether they could ever get the balance between attack and defence to the point where they wouldn't have those hilarious collapses where they let teams back in from a winning position. They've clearly done that this season and been absolutely ruthless up front. Fewer chances but clinical finishing. Even the luck, as infuriating as it is, comes from them not giving their opponents any relief and playing the game to the end, just like the great United sides always did.

Anyway, that's all the praise you are getting from me you bin dipping shit cnuts. If you do win it then I hope it's a lone title in a sea of feck all for the next 30 years.

Liverpool dropping points and still winning the league would require City to drop points twice. They can’t afford anything other than 100% and that still won’t be enough imo.

But he said nothing of the sort. He said that Dortmund side was more attacking than the current Liverpool - that is, they played a different style.

Could you realistically picture Pool having 95 pts before this season started? I couldn't.

First off Liverpool have no amassed that amount, second I say again that I was referring to a one-on-one match between Dortmund and Liverpool. It's no point arguing about the EPL because the BL (even during the period from 2010-14 when it was performing very well) will always be looked down on and any achievement not rated, so I'm not going to go there.

When it comes to purely a match between Liverpool and Dortmund, I still think Dortmund could, and would, beat them.

With the number of games they have, along with playing Spurs twice and United within a week... I can see at least one draw happening there. Then it's a case of City holding their nerve in the final three matches. Would be squeaky bum time indeed. You'd fancy City to win it if they come out of Spurs/United with 6 points, maybe even 4 points, but it'll be so tight. Like I said, I don't think either team will quite manage 100% from their remaining Premier League games and I wouldn't count Liverpool out if they get 10 points from four games.

That Barca team was the most awe inspiring period of football I have ever seen. And I've seen a lot now. Unfortunately. Comparing us for even 10 minutes yesterday to that team made me cringe a little.

    Sensible man.

Shame your lot couldn't hurt their chances in the last meeting. The wins against Spurs and Chelsea could define this years title race.

Liverpool will win all of them. They're not dropping points at home and the away games are piss easy.

Yeah, it's frustrating. We came so close as well, played good football and deserved at least a point .. but Liverpool this season seem to have that annoying cliche title winning team habit of winning games they don't really deserve to.

Btw, how the hell do you have a situation where Liverpool and City play their UCL matches on the same date and time, but City play Spurs on a Saturday 4:30pm kickoff while Liverpool get a nice full day rest and play at 8pm the next day? The EPL really need to grips with how to manage fixtures given their teams European matches, what harm would they have had to move the City v Spurs EPL match to Sunday?

Usually, I'd agree but the fact that City play the same opposition that they play in the Champions League makes the extra day rest for Liverpool null and void. It's not like City will be playing a team that have had an extra rest day to them.

I'm no so sure. We beat Dortmund over 2 legs back in 2016. They were vastly superior to us back then and we had enough to beat them. We have improved a ton and I think we'd have the upper hand in a match against them now.

It’s actually even worse: they kick-off at 12.30pm on Saturday.

Liverpool would beat that Dortmund side 100%. This is one of the best Liverpool sides ever in my opinion.

Ah, I was looking at livescore, which was showing me the the times in my country (Pakistan), which is 4 hours ahead.

I'm referring to Klopp's Dortmund from 2010-2013, won two BL's and reached the UCL final.

I think we give too much credit to Pep's Barca. I think, barca was good pressing side but not the best ever. Simply because all the other teams were ill prepared to tackle high press as it was a new tactics. Now the ability of midfielders is judged by how resitant they are to the press. Trio of Henderson, Ross Barkley and Dier are more press resitant than trio of peak Gerrard, Scholes and Lampard.

In my opinion, Barca was best side of last 15 years.(Because i didnt get the chance to watch teams before that.) But their pressing ability is over glorified. These days even second division teams press as good as Barca. (Swansea against City, in one of the cup competitions.)

Also by guardiola's own admission, his team had 6 second rule. They use to try get the ball as soon as possible but if not successful they would drop in more traditional shape. Whereas now top pressing sides like City, Liverpool and Spurs. Tend to press much longer, not pressing just the ball carrier but cover this passing options or block the passing lanes (Liverpool front three is very good in this aspect). Forcing the player with the ball to either attempt difficult pass or attempt dribble.

Now winning the ball is just first phase, second phase was to reach in goal scoring position before opposition can transition into defensuve shape. Pep popularised Pressing and possesion, Klopp popularised Press and try to reach to goal as quick with as few passes as possible aka Counter-Press.

Or the Pickford last second howler to not only keep the ball in play, but caress it right to Mane's head.

Or Mahrez's last minute penalty miss.

8 point swing in those absolute fluke of matches. Depressing.

Come on, mate. Worst liverpool team of Klopp with joke of a defense beat Dortmund which was on what i believe was 25 match unbeaten streak in Europa League already. His team has improved tremendously since then. Only survivor of that era in playing eleven is Henderson i guess. They basically have new new defense, attack and half of the midfield.

yes because the grind out wins. in the games they aren't playing particularly well they remind me of chelsea under mourinho... still winning. they still have players who can turn a game... a boring nothing much happening game into a win.

liverpool, when they aren't playing wel, can rely on the defence to get the point or win

I know people think Benítez will roll over for Liverpool but Newcastle away is not “piss easy”. They’ve won 6 out of their last 7 at home, including beating City, and beat United, Arsenal and Chelsea at St. James’ last season.

Liverpool should win there but it’s hardly the walkover people are suggesting.

Newcastle have nothing to play for now. Their season is practically done. Even in interviews after their last game their players were saying 'that should be enough to stay in the League'. Rafa won't even have to bend over for them, the players will do it for him.

You're right about this . It will be a song. Up until now I would say who ever comes in second if both teams win out shouldn't be considered as spitting the bit . However, if one of these two teams drop points going forward and the other doesn't take advantage and win it, you could say they blew it big time.
