Anyone else looking forward to this? 10 part series starts April 13th:-
Yay, more reboots.
Captain Flint in this shit? I'm in.
The amount of content Netflix are pumping out is bonkers.
Whenever I think of Lost in Space I think of Matt LeBlanc.
Trailer looks good.
Stop with the gender swap bullshit.
I used to watch reruns of the original Lost in Space tv series on a Sunday lunch time back in the early ‘90’s. A couple of hours of that and Land of the giants before a nice roast dinner
It’s out now, just put the first episode on.
Watching for Flint but 20 mins in I find myself browsing the caf...
edit: ok so it's a bit pathetic and cheesy, as I was expecting to be fair but has enough mystery about it to tease that there might be an interesting story on the way, highly doubt it but I'll give it a chance.
I’m about 5 episodes into this, it’s ok but not great, I’ll probably finish it. It feels like another “no one ever catches a break ever” sort of show, including:
they land on a planet that must be billions of years old months before it’s about to be destroyed
What’s the point in rebooting everything if you don’t make it any different?
I’ve never understood this logic. We already have the other version, just as we already have a male Ghostbusters, a white Jonny Storm, etc etc. I’ve never had any issue with changing fiction. How many adaptations of Romeo & Juliet are set in Verona these days?
"Oh the pain, the pain!"
I don’t agree with reboots at all mate. Most of them are shit. For every The Thing and The Fly you have 20 absolute turds.
Gender swapping iconic roles just for the sake of it is something that annoys me immensely.
Take the Robocop reboot from a few years ago, why gender swap Murphy’s partner Anne Lewis and make her a man? Pointless.
The rumours keep circulating about a female James Bond. Again, why? Can’t hollywood just create a female spy franchise from scratch? Oh yeah, they already did that with Atomic Blonde and it was ace.
Any how, I’ll give Lost in Space a chance. At least the actress they’ve got to play Dr Smith is very talented. Hopefully she can pull off the Weasley, wimpish role as well the original actor did.
What! I didn't hear this. Thats just so off-putting for me. Dr Smith is an around 50 year old man. Always has been and always will be, it will feel so wrong. Why Netflix? WHY?!?!?!
Fyi, he's my favourite character from the original series, of which we have the complete set at my house.
The original dr Smith was my favourite too mate. Turning him into a woman was a stupid decision imo.
Watched the first couple of episodes of this last night. No memory of the original, so not bothered by gender swapping and whatever other changes they have made.
Fairly average, pitched at a family audience. Looks great, very much along the lines of their Star Trek reboot in terms of visuals though much cleaner/brighter. Some of the writing is pretty poor, one scene where they had water freezing from the depths up stood out as particularly groan inducing. The Robinson family are not particularly engaging, adding a bit of conflict between the Mother and Father to spice it up was a little heavy handed, Maureen, the Mother did not come across particularly well, though whoever made the casting decision for Penny as her daughter did a hell of a job, could easily buy them being real life family based on how alike they look. Dr Smith comes across as a cartoon villain.
Got pretty annoying how everything that could go wrong, would go wrong, and it'd happen about 6 times every episode.
It was ok, Smith was a bit annoying but got better later in the Season. Thought the kids were decent and Flint is a boss.
I've watched 3 so far, it's not shit, but it's not great either...
Roll eyes moment of the whole TV season. No guns allowed in my house (ship)! Twatette, look where you are!
Yeah, especially when them fuel snakes were guzzling all the fecking unleaded...
I'm liking it. It's family fun and adventure. Getting a bit tired with all these dark and broody series.
Man. If it wasn't for gender swap bullshit we wouldn't get Parker posey!
I didn't even make it through the first episode. I found it hard to understand how it could be so freezing that the water turned to ice instantly, but the family didn't seen to be particularly cold at all. I know they wore spacesuits, but they had their masks off and looked comfy enough. Oh, and those attempts at being funny were cringy as feck.
who plays the creepy old guy who hung out with the boy and the robot?
Jonathan Harris mate. That’s the original (and best) dr Smith.
thanks but no I mean in this Netflix version
nvm I found out its Parkey Posey
It feels a lot like The 100 to me.
I like it for all the new planet adaptation troubles and the struggle of humans just not being on earth aspects.
It's corny as feck but watchable and quite easily engrossing. Just like The 100 I wasn't sure if the first series was shit and I just like space or it was actually good and that turned out to be great IMO so I'm looking forward to season 2.
No worries. When you said creepy old guy i thought you were talking about the original
7 eps in, I will finish it but its shi
It’s like the crap you get on at teatime on a Saturday
They should have gone darker with a horror feel to it. I don’t get any sense of urgency or panic. Nor do I care about most characters
Best character is Penny by a mile
Oh and Parker Posey is a shit knacker actor
Dr. Smith seems stupid in this show (3 episodes in thou).
Is Penny the middle child? If so, agreed as well.
Yep, they’ve dropped the ball with the character.
I quit midway through the third episode.
