how should we approach the game? Try to score as many as possible to close the gap on gd?
The GD side of things is an irrelevance now. It's a gap of 8 and they have Wolves next - if it comes down to that, it's game over for us.
I think a big win is important from a confidence point of view more than anything to be honest.
I don't see how it'd be beneficial to be stumbling into the derby game. A couple of quality wins before City would set us up nicely.
An absolute must win.
Agree with Feed Me, those players have been utterly useless recently.
I'll add there's absolutely no chance of any of them having a positive impact in an easy win for us tomorrow - none at all.
Just need to go out and do a job on em, they will come and park the bus , nice early goal and we will win 3 or 4 nil.
Just a win will do and a win against Everton. We have no influence on what they do until we play them of course. A 5 point gap going to Wastelands will mean all the pressure is on them.. Squeaky bum time.
had some credit over from the national and put a tenner on us to win 5-0 at 75-1 so no pressure lads
We'll go 1-0 up early, then again settle and win 2-0 or so. This season we rarely run over our opponents at home score wise (bar Arsenal).
I'll take any kind of win. A win in fashion would be great though
Old Trafford should be LOUD tomorrow!
Good luck mate.Be a nice touch
We could really do with lifting this doom and gloom City have created with their massive win today, alas there's more chance of tomorrow being 1-0 to United than 4 or 5
End of the day though any kind of win PLEASE
will keane to curl one in for 50 yards and be hailed as the new king of old trafford.
Sean's team to beat Aston Villa
Bench: Amos, Smalling, Fabio, Giggs, Nani, Welbeck, Chicharito
Not in the squad: Berbatov, Park, Jones, Fryers, Pogba, W.Keane
Out: Vidic, Fletcher, Anderson, Owen, Lindegaard
Some words to the team-selection
I know 4-5-1 against Aston Villa at Old Trafford looks defensively-minded but i don't think Welbeck or Chicharito deserve to be in the starting XI after their last performances and it looks like Berbatov has no role anymore in Fergie's eyes.
The right-back position was a tough contest between Rafael and Smalling but i give the place to Rafael, but Smalling is a good option too because he could be a big factor for the set-pieces (Aston Villa have conceded 18 goals after set-pieces this season) in that game.
Nani or Cleverley was the last major decision for me and the place in the starting XI goes to Cleverley because i want to see finally the midfield trio Scholes-Cleverley-Carrick and Nani is maybe not 100% ready for a full game.
Player to watch: Ashley Young
Young's set-pieces could be a major factor for us because Aston Villa have conceded so much goals after set-pieces this season and he plays against his former team-mates.
Pretty sure Nani will start and Young won´t
To start Clev would be stupid, Nani should play if fit. Should also play 2 up front, and rafael has been excellent.
Rooney Berbatov will start imo. Fergie said Berba will be involved in the next few games and he's good at scoring at OT vs the lower teams and plus Welbeck and Hernandez have been useless off late.
Expecting a good response from the lack luster performance in midweek. 3-0
Starting to get a bit nervous now. I think we will win it but it will be a tight game.
We should try to win the game for a start!
We'll win 2-1
I dont think Berba will start and I dont think we will see him in a United shirt again
I hope so, can't get these people putting Young ahead of Nani.
With Rooney, Nani & Valencia we will be formidable...
hope the poor display in midweek will stir the players up again..we need a positive performance and result today.
I agree with the starting today bit but I feel that he will get a final appearance after the title is decided.
Fergie may give him a goodbye appearance in the Swansea match!
I'd start Young over Nani today purely because he is 100% match fit and Nani isn't.
I'd look to bring Nani on in the 60-70th minute to really terrorise them.
I'm watching this game at my mates. The last 5 games I watched at his were:
Manchester United 8 - 2 Arsenal
Manchester United 3 - 0 Tottenham
Manchester United 3 - 0 Chelsea
Arsenal 1 - 2 Manchester United
Tottenham 1 - 3 Manchester United
If we lose/draw it will be your fault...
- Head-to-head total: 90-38-49
-.Head-to-head @Old Trafford: 57-17-12
- Manchester United's current form: LWWWWL
..Aston Villa's current form: DWLLDD
- Manchester United have lost just 1 of their last 30 meetings against Aston Villa (24 wins and 5 draws), but this Aston Villa win was at Old Trafford just 2 1/2 years.
- Aston Villa have won only 1 of their past 26 league visits to Old Trafford, a 1-0 win on 12/12/2009.
- Aston Villa have taken points off Manchester United in each of the last 3 seasons.
- If the Red Devils score against Aston Villa then they'll break the Premier League record for netting in consecutive home matches......they have scored in each of
-.their last 46 league home games, the last visiting Premier League club to keep a clean sheet at Old Trafford was Aston Villa in their 1-0 win on 12/12/2009.
- Manchester United lost 1-0 to Wigan in midweek but they've not failed to score in consecutive league games since May-August 2007.
- Aston Villa have lost just 4 away league games this term (Only Manchester United have a better record with 2 defeats on the road), but they've won just 3 times
-.and have also 9 draws on their travels.

And you're wasting that on Villa at home?
I am not so sure , there is a reason why he has not played or even been on the bench , something that has not come out.
a fan of both but welbeck or hernandez should not start today.
Don't think Giggs should be starting to be honest.
Think if Berba is involved then this might give us an insight into SAF thinking about whether to by a striker next season. If he involves Berba and then offloads him at then end of the season imo he will buy a replacement as i would conclude SAF doesn't think Hernandez and Wellbeck options are enough.
awful during the week but what we lacked was composure. scholes and giggs bring out the best in eachother, that middle 3 dominated in the cup at anfield. get out and dominate from the start should be the idea today
Giggs shouldn't start any game between here and the end of the season. 15 minutes cameos please.
We've said this before with Giggs though. He just goes through extremes in form.
It's too risky at this time of the season to persist with such an inconsistent player.
I say we should sell him, he's too old now...
This is Giggsy we're talking about here, you do realise that don't you?
hopefully not but ive had that thought as well Paul.
Agreed. He seems to be playing very well as an impact player this year. Once the opposition is tired his flair passes and play seems to come off.
Separate names with a comma.
