Another go on the merry go around could be on the cards according to Jeremy Wilson.

Another one of the 6-8 managers that always seems guaranteed a PL job.

Nah, doesn't fit with their youth policy. Doesn't Hughes not promote? I can't think of him bringing through many?

Seems like a ridiculously hasty decision. Why not wait a couple of weeks until one or two more alternatives show up? Alan Pardew will be available soon.

Mark Hughes is the manager responsible for Liverpool's biggest loss in 50 years - beat them 6-1 in Gerrard's send off game

I think for now they are looking for someone who can save them from relegation. Some journalist reported that Southampton are looking for someone with PL experience and after few hours Hughes is leading candidate for the job.

Alternatively, could even be his chance to start promoting youth and improving his style of management. Maybe their board would put that expectations to Hughes.

Think he'll keep them up tbh, he's an ok bottom of the table manager with lots of ok players. I'd bring him in to the end of the season and then bin him.

Delighted the man responsible for our incoming relegation will be able to walk into another big job within months. It’s no wonder the bottom half of the PL is the mess it is with all the dreadful decisions these clubs make.

There are very few industries like it.
Perform shite, get sacked and find another job within months.

Yeah, Hiughes took Stoke to 19th place and got sacked, Southampton who are just 1 point above Stoke are hiring him.

Looks like they don't have many options and don't want to risk hiring foreign manager with just 8 more games to play.

Being a British manager is the easiest job in the world it seems.

Manage a team in relegation battle, get all the money possible, get sacked due to being close to relegation, manage a new team in relegation battle, rinse, repeat. Great job.

Right on, sign him until the end of season to stay up. Then look for a young and upcoming manager, please. No more recycle manager, its getting boring.

Seems like a poor fit for a club looking for instant impact with just 8 games left. It could be Pardew part II.

Long term it's uninspiring as well, Hughes has had enough chances.

    he's a terrible manager

don't see why clubs think managers who fail elsewhere will suddenly do well for them.

I would’ve thought Marco Silva would be up their street.

Hughes, whilst he’s someone capable of ensuring a club stays afloat and he can have a decent impact in the first few months, he’s certainly not a stand out candidate for any job in the Premier League.

If he takes them down and Stoke go down, will that be a double relegation?

I hope they appoint Tuchel, who is mentioned again as the saviour for every club in the world. Then when he fails, we can move on to someone else.

Hughes is getting too much stick. Stoke fizzled out quite badly but he's done more than a capable job at this level of club. He's a decent coach, albeit not exactly inspiring.

He did a great job at Blackburn, good season at Fulham, really good job at Stoke. He wasn’t great at a City but he isn’t a terrible manager. He’s one of the better British managers.

He's a decent midtable manager for the short to mid term. Just let him buy the strikers he wants and they should be good for the time being.

I like Saints, don't want to start wishing for them to go down. So please, stay clear of Hughes.
